Really useful video. My Chamberlain garage door opener backup battery just died after 10 years, so based on this video I ordered the Mighty Max ML5-12 12V/5Ah from Amazon for $16.99. The installation was very simple, exactly as explained in this video. I tested the battery driven operation of the garage door after installation and it checked out great. Thanks a lot for this great information.
Thank you soooo much this was just amazingly helpful to watch. I feel confident replacing my chamberlain, garage door battery myself now thanks to your delightful instructions
Thanks, this was an informative video. Quick question, should I unplug the garage motor for safety and does the battery have to charge for a period of time after installation?
@@phjohnso I'm waiting for Amazon to deliver my battery. I'm not an electrician so are you saying that as an electrician it's safe not to unplug the garage door opener?

you don't have to but if you feel safer then do unplug it - you do not have to wait after installing it as it will charge up over time. Thanks!
@@phjohnso YES! per Chamberlain manual!
Will the garage door opener still works if there's electricity (ie plugged in)? Thanks
@@melodysliu absolutely
Chamberlain Manual says to unplug opener b4 change battery. May need to reset clock on wall switch.
thanks for watching
I was surprised that you didn't unplug your garage door opener prior to removing the battery.
I know but I didn’t need to.
