"The Dukes" cartoon intro w/Bo, Luke, Daisy

- "The Dukes" cartoon ran for just 20 episodes during Saturday mornings in 1983. Fortunately the DVD set is available on Amazon: amzn.to/3eUM2xn. Production for the animated series was planned before the strike of John Schneider and Tom Wopat. Rather than delay the series, Warner Bros. went ahead with the project, using the substitute characters of "Coy and Vance" and the voices of Byron Cherry and Christopher Mayer. This put "Coy and Vance" in the cartoon for the first 13 episodes.
CBS tried to keep the animated show going when Schneider and Wopat settled with Warner Bros, approving a second season of "The Dukes." With Bo and Luke back in the driver's seat of the General Lee, and all the live-action cast doing the character voice work, this show SHOULD have ran longer than it did. Alas, "The Dukes" cartoon only lasted 7 more episodes after Bo and Luke came on board, getting canceled halfway through the 2nd season due to lackluster ratings.
Animated by the legendary Hanna-Barbera studio, "The Dukes" cartoon had everything it needed for success. But it may have been doomed from the start due to a questionable premise that took the Dukes OUT of Hazzard, along with Boss Hogg, Rosco and Flash, to race around the world. Perhaps it was intended to lightly introduce kids to other places and cultures, but it pretty much relied on stereotypes to do this. On the plus, James Best and Sorrell Booke did an excellent job voicing their animated characters. Out of everybody on the project, it's clear they had the most fun with it.
Note, if you do buy the DVD set using the Amazon link at the top of this description, I will get an itty bitty teeny tiny inky-dinky commission. (And you will have my sincere gratitude!) Thank you for watching, and please Subscribe for more Dukes of Hazzard content. See you next time! Приколы
I remember watching this as a kid with my bowl of cereal and my dukes of Hazzard tv tray
Wow did not know this existed and I lived for Saturday morning cartoons.
back in the 70's and 80's hit TV shows had Cartoon spin-offs or Continuations, Laverne & Shirley, Star Trek, Dukes of Hazzard, Gilligan's Island & The Brady Bunch. Hanna Barbara, Filmation and DiC made a lot of money doing the cartoon shows
Only reason I would get up super early on Saturdays was for the cartoons .. I was a ToysRus kid cause I didn't want to grow up ... 😆..
Kids now a days don't have a clue on how much fun that was ..
Same, I did not that existed.
Hanna-Barbara was really reaching with that idea.🤣
@@bandittweintraub Even Pac man pitfall super mario.bros had. A cartoon spin off Dukes of hazzard had its piece of the pie
@@bandittweintraub Hanna Barbara and Sunbow made some of those cartoons
I just now found out this existed. I grew up when dukes of hazzard was new. I never saw this before! WTF?
Ohhhh them Dukes!!!!!
The Dukes of Hazzard was probably the only live action show to have an animated spin-off that didn't suck. It kinda makes sense to make it, too. While The Dukes of Hazzard has technically always been a family show, in its earlier seasons, it was more intended for an older audience to watch. The animated series and the toning back of the live-action show expanded its audience to children.
Emergency! had a great animated spin off as did Star Trek. But yah...most of the others were pretty bad. The Partridge Family in the future was beyond awful,
Who remembers the Fonzi cartoon along with Laverne and Shirley?
@@CairnTerrier69 I was just about to comment on Star Trek. Those episodes were surprisingly good. Never saw the Partridge Family but I remember the Beatles cartoons (okay, not really a spinoff) which were pretty hard to watch for more than 5 minutes, LOL.
@@russellj.s.257you mean the one where he and his dog along with Ralph wound up time travelling with some klutzy magic wielder?
Supposedly Hanna Barbera was going to adapt the UK series Doctor Who but the good folks at the BBC didn't want their Time Lord upstaged by some meddlesome, mugging mutt.
I can suspect since the inside of the time machine looks very VERY much like the TARDIS
Likewise the klutzy magic wielder (played by Grease alumna Didi "Frenchie" Conn) predated Sailor Moon's Usagi by 15 years
@@iwasanangryyoungman yup,her name was Cupcake or that's what he called her, been a long time
so _thats_ where old coy and vance went.
Well I'll be a monkey's uncle, I knew about the duke's of hazard for most of my life, but I never knew they had a cartoon.
Neither did I, until a few years back.
They didn’t need a cartoon. wtf!
We'll never again live in a world where a cartoon like this is considered viable or actually produced.
Never say never.
Hank Hill: Howdy
@@TheStormMage King of the Hill wasn't just mindless, goofy fun like this, though.
@Based redpilled Yes - apparently reverse racsim and sexism equals justice. Sheesh.

the actual tv show was like a cartoon
Miss Saturday morning cartoons. Shame it was taken away from us.
It wasn't taken away. Kids weren't watching any more. I think dedicated cartoon channels ended Saturday mornings as we remember them.
Indeed
Maybe they'll return, someday, now that some animated property ownerships now currently rest with the broadcast networks, themselves. For instance, CBS would get programs from Paramount Animation Studios, Nicktoons, Cookie Jar, etc., ABC would primarily get anything associated with Disney, especially from Marvel Films, Lucasfilm Animation, Pixar, etc. and NBC would show anything from Universal Animation, Dreamworks Animation, etc., leaving anything from Cartoon Network Studios, Warner Bros. Animation, Sony Pictures Animation, Nelvana Studios, etc. to have free reign to all three of those networks or first-run syndication, provided that's still going on, but again, it's a big maybe, because until that time comes, we'll have to continue to rely on Cartoon Network, Disney Channel and Nickelodeon for Saturday morning TV animation choices!!!
They will make a gradual return- MeTV forced CBS' hand and it plans to return to SatAM animated programming(MeTV scores astronomical ratings for its Saturday morning theatrical cartoon block to the point that CBS will challenge MeTV's block with animated originals for SatAM with help from both Nickelodeon and Paramount+)- ABC(with programming assistance from both Disney Channel and Disney+) and NBC(with programming assistance from both Peacock and Universal Kids) will eventually follow suit, after allowing their respective deals with Litton to expire. Still, the 1990 CTA needs to be dramatically reformed, because that policy is greatly outdated, especially for the 21st century!!!
Please make more clips Brian, the dukes were awesome back then and still are in my book. I loved watching them brings back a lot of happy memories. These cartoons just keep the dukes flow going, and i still miss Rosco Peeeee Coltrane ( i think that's how he used to say it ) cracked me up every time i heard that ) . I have been watching them on you tube just lately they are still awesome now and im pushing, 60 lmao, keep them coming brian for as ling as you can. thank you.
We gonna have some FUN! 😆
Hoooo! Hoohoo! Hooee!
I used to watch this...awesome. thank you. Thank you. Oh man thank you. Its friday night... I am loving and needing this.
I didn't think anyone else
remembered this show
@brobbus0 - And it's redundant. the live action show was pretty much a cartoon. And the animation in this one sucked!
Wow, I can't believe I haven't seen this in decades.
I remember this from back in da day on Saturday mornings on CBS.
The animated series debuted abruptly in February 5, 1983 during the 1982-83 midseason, when CBS cut The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show from 90 minutes to 60 installed The Dukes in the now-available time shot. The series lasted on CBS until November 6, 1983, when it disappeared from the schedule as quickly as it came on the scene, when it was bumped/replaced in favor of Plastic Man reruns from November 13, 1983 to February 4, 1984 midseason, then Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle reruns took over.
So this is a real thing. Fuck me in my 41 years of life how did I manage to miss the Dukes of Hazzard cartoon. Next thing you'll be telling me there was a fourth season of Airwolf and a reboot of Battlestar Galactica.
Repeat after me: "there was never a fourth season of Airwolf."
I guess i was already past cartoon watching days because i don't remember this one. I was more of a H.R. Puffnstuff and Wheely and the Chopper Bunch fan myself.
Wheely and the chopper bunch. 👍
That was back when u could watch cartoons without pissing somebody off I loved the 80s
If this were produced today, half the nation would shut down from trauma over the sight of the Confederate flag on the cartoon car's rooftop. Very triggering.
Ah... freedom to not care about anyone else but yourself. What a wonderful feeling.
How can u say that that hurts my feelings lmao
Not to mention that I paused it at 00:28 and it looks like two dudes are making out.
Damn the gay agenda!!!
@@PM-rm7nr Those two were always a couple.
Back then, this was just simple Saturday morning fun. Now? People could find 100 things wrong with it. Oh, how I miss those days.
I remember watching that when I was younger.
I don't recall this being aired in the UK where as the Live action series was aired on BBC ONE
The animation style is quite reminiscent of the old Scooby-Doo cartoons. It might be the same cartoonist, I don't know.
I was just thinking the same thing 😅
Credit the good ol' boys at Hanna Barbera
They got the colour of the General Lee right - at least they ditched the Confederate Flag thing on its roof. Could be tough not just to get it right but also for posterity's sake
@@iwasanangryyoungman rewatch the clip. The confederate flag is literally in the first seconds of the video on their roof.
@@classicpontiac37 good old days before "sensitive " people didn't exist
It was produced by the same studio that produced Scooby Doo; Hanna-Barbera.
I have this show on DVD.
I was super curious about this show!
The Dukes cartoon debuted on February 5, 1983 on CBS as a midseason show after they dropped 2 shows Speed Buggy and expanded The Sylvester & Tweety, Daffy, and Speedy Show.
It's great to finally see a nice HD upload of the Dukes intro
Will there be more uploads from the animated series?
I'll post a couple more clips soon as I can. Thanks for watching!
Wow this brings back memories of my childhood.
RUclips should play full episodes
First, there was Coy & Vance, then the second version brings back Bo & Luke, the original Duke Boys.
I barely remember this as a kid don't remember most but thanx to DVDs and online videos I got a chance to see them now just like Gilligan's planet and spaghetti and meatballs.
I didn’t know there was a Cartoon
Looks like I'd better make more clips of it, then!
Seems like everything n the 80s had a cartoon spin off
Uncle jesse always conning bo and luke for mortgage money, they paid the farm off 5 fold thru the years
I can't believe I remember seeing this; I must've been about 5 years old.
More please love them Dukes
This is some ancient nostalgia
I remember this aired at 1130 where I lived but the local station would play their own programing. Usually an after school special or sports
ive never seen the cartoon dukes.. heard of it, but never seen any of it.
YEE YEE!!!
Don't yell at me when I say this: If they ever reboot the series (again), they should make it animated.
Sounds good to me.
@Nicholas Evans We just need some good voice actors. Probably the ones from those video games.
I have the original broadcast with commercials but I haven't transferred yet
I was totes a Dukes fan, I was 12 in '78. Watched lot's of cartoons..
tbh, never saw this show.
Looks like it was pretty hilarious, reminds my of Bob Smigel, TV Fun House!
The Ambiguously Gay Duke Boys ?
Well possum on a gumbush I never knowed they was a Dukes cartoon!
Holly shit This is old school saturday mornings
I forgot about this completely
Oh the nostalgia
Make more clips!!!!!!
Racing around the world would probably cost much more than the value of the farm.
Groovy
THEM DUKES!!!
Never saw this version before now I want to
D'AWWWW THEM DUKES!!!!
That looks like a great cartoon
Oh my.....
¡Ándale! Al sheriff Rosco dándole un fuerte ataque de risa después que a Boss Hogg con el aire del General Lee se quedó en paños menores y el mismo Boss regañandolo a él. ¡Jajajajaja!😂
Clearly, this was before my time.
It’s too bad that Enos, Cooter or Cletus didn’t appeared in the animated series.
0:30 - “Yes, sir, Bo, Luke and Daisy are racing ol’ Boss Hogg clear around the world, and they gonna win the prize money so the Boss can’t foreclose on the farm. Naturally, greedy ol’ Boss wants the farm and the money all for himself so he’s been a cheatin’ and a schemin’ every butt of the way.”

What is the name of the episode
🤔---I never heard of this cartoon ever. It wasn't on my CBS . The show was on Friday nights but not the cartoon...
Basically: Wacky Races, Dukes of Hazzard style, but with more plot
😍😍😍😍😍
WTF DID NOT KNOW THIS EXISTED 😳
not suprised, seem like at some point, every tv show had a cartoon Saturday mornings- -
😂😂😂😂 I don’t remember this cartoon!!!
Cartoons before politics got involved. The memories.
I guess they were trying to keep costs down, by not including Waylon Jennings, Cooter, Enos, and Cletus.
Hey Brian are you related to Sheriff Roscoe? LOL
Ha!
What was wrong with watching the original show?
Not a thing! The cartoon was a bonus. I might do more clips of the animated series if there's enough interest.
Nothing really...several other prime time shows got animated spin offs. “Star Trek”, “Lassie”, “Emergency!”, “Brady Bunch”, “Partridge Family”...the cartoons always aired on the network the original aired on. Pretty much to capitalize on a popular show.
They didn't have the budget to go around the world like a cartoon does. I thought the sensitive episode dealing with rape was the best one in this cartoon series.
If they are racing around the world, wouldn't that cost more money than operating the farm? Think about it. Wouldn't that be more money for Boss Hogg too just race them when he obviously have enough money to simply comfortably financially compensate then instead of going through all the trouble to race that Duke Family across the globe?
Funny as the real show cartoon was cool wish last longer tho. Season wise.
Looks funny but I don't ever remember seeing it.
This was a cartoon show as well!?
You know this show would be shut down before it would be aired . So sad really .
What is the name of the song
Oh oh wee were gonna have some fun
My gyrations has crap for TV also how did I not know about this
i never got to see the cartoons
This show is set in Georgabama. It's not cold. Why his Boss Hog wearing one-piece woolen underwear?
I think it would be fun if we could have a Bandit and the Dukes team up against Sheriff Buford T. Justice and Boss Hogg and Sheriff Enos!

🤠Sombitch!!!
The flag? This won't be up long
all that for a farm?
What really.. I dont remember seeing this cartoon
I understand that they destroyed almost 200 cartoon Chargers for this show. Funny back then. Sad now.
0:56, Boss Hoggs wearing a Klansman hood ?
Boss Hogg was greedy, not evil!!!
0:48 Did they still allow SMOKING in a cartoon at that time? Given Boss Hogg was the BAD GUY but it's still SMOKING
People weren't so sensitive back then lol.
I'm triggered. My lawyers will be in touch.
