In nature there is no concept of "useless". Those rotting coconuts become part of the life cycle of the soil and the trees. So too in life, we must find ways to redefine our views and find purpose where it might seem there is none.
glad someone said it! that dead coconut will have eventually made the area more lush with life. just like if a person died would make the ones around them stronger. everything and everyone has a purpose whether you see it or not.
Ok going back to listening to what Rob said, "Tree of life - Tree that supports life. The coconuts not used only purpose are to rot away. Use your life for good, go out there and be productive and positive and yield fruit. But if you just have a negative attitude you will just rot into the ground and be useless. Take everyday and be positive, motivated and grateful." While our bodies will feed the soil, the time we spent on this earth, he is saying make it count. Don't sit around and do nothing or be negative, because then you are not yielding good results for yourself or anyone. What you just said about changing your views to find purpose, is the same thing he is saying. But those who don't serve no other purpose then to rot and feed the land, their time is useless. Their body does the same thing poop does, fertilizes the ground.
I am from the Island too. Growing up and using coconut was just a normal way of life but this video has taught me a different approach in life. Coconut is really a Tree of Life. Thank you DMFD
You are right Rob, this is definitely a tree of life, Here in Kerala, the coconut tree is called as "Kalpa Vriksham" which essentially means all parts of a Coconut tree is useful some way or other, Some uses are The tree - fire, furniture, piling in soggy lands The leaves - fire, roofs and fences, sticks for broom The flower - toddy and neera from flower spike, the flower itself in ayurvedic medicines The coconut - coconut and its milk in curries, oils The husk - coir, geotextiles, fire, cocopeat, mulching and natural scrubber The shell - fire, spoons, crafts and in meat curry to make it delicious and removing extra salt
Hey Rob. In India, coconut trees are the source of life all across the coastal belt, close to the oceans. During our hit Indian summers, coconuts are sold on the streets, and you get to drink the water and eat the flesh inside. The leaves of the coconut tree are also used to build homes or make broom sticks, the husk of the coconut is used in fire stoves and sometimes even as a scrub to clean utensils. The coconut itself is used in cooking, to make oil, etc.

Loving the channel Rob and learning lots about the CNMI. Thanks for all you do. I very much appreciate it.
I never thought about it but now I see that the tree of life is in fact the Coconut Palm. Amazing.
I felt that I'm in a church and you are a priest :) and I think that sort of lifestyle is amazing because you deal with all aspects of life, good and bad in a peaceful manner and you are always positive and creative, better than rotten coconut :) !!
Your words are very inspiring. I watched a video of your brother's yesterday and he said he met a black guy for the first time and he didn't see color he saw a person. You guys parents did an excellent job raising you guys. In this time of uncertainty and hearing words like those coming from someone who doesn't look like me gave me hope. Thank you.
