Very nice video. It's good to mention that you have to disengage thick red cable from alternator, it's under voltage be careful if battery is still connected. Another tip, don't switch places of two long screws that hold alternator, it's instant regret
Hi mate i know this video is old but im having to replace the alternator on my 2005 tdci focus, ive removed the alternator bolts but it still doesnt seem to be budging, do i still have to remove the the coupling in order to remove the alternator? TIA
@@asktoby ok thanks ive almost done it i was wondering why i couldnt free it up, i did manage to get 2 of the 3 bolts off the coupler ( theres 3 on mine ) but the 3rd rounded off so gona get some heat on it tomorrow and knock it out
+mellowfellow100 When you lift the car and remove the heat shield you'll see it. It's front-right-bottom in the engine. 4 bolts as shown at 0:31, just use a spanner. It drops down.
It's easy. I'm no mechanic but found my way through. Aux belt you have to use a lever to loosen the spring to get it off. I used a spanner stuffed into a socket I think, you gotta use your inginuity on that bit if you don't have the right tool. But it's not hard, just take notes and photos as you go. Remember how the aux belt was woven around the engine and write it down.
