Great montage guys! I’m sending this to my son, who you’ve met, who REALLY wanted a Karmann Ghia when he was in high school decades ago. It was fun to see my Beetle in the background. Can’t wait to see your videos of it!!
I have this planned for my '66 Ghia Coupe. Looks so simple compared to wrestling with the Type-4 motor that is currently in it. Thanks for the great video!
Muy bien felicidades por su trabajo de cuantos caballos es el motor eléctrico , voltaje es corriente continua o corriente directa? Saludos para todo su equipo de trabajo
I love, love love your conversion to electric electric!💡⚡⭐👍 The car looks great and sounds good running. The karmann Ghia is my all time favorite car! I hope you will do my future Karmann Ghia the same way.🥰👏
EV West really does have this figured out well for a DIY Kit you can acheive a very nice Professional looking Install ! People have been doing the Electric Conversions to Air Cooled VWs. for a long time and as a fan of Volkswagenens i have seen some really horrible Homemade Conversions that are Hillbillied together because of Trial and Errors i had looked at a Bradley GT someone did and donated to a High School Auto Program it turned out the County would not allow the Students at that time for liability purposes to work on EV cars so i knew the Instructor and he told me. it was going to be Auctioned to high bidder i looked at it for a possible conversion back to Stock but the Car was too hacked up for my liking. i told the Instructor i would have to get the car for free to make it worth my while
YOUR PROJECT IS GENIAL, YOU LIVE IN A VERY DEVELOPED COUNTRY, HERE IN BRAZIL IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO DEVELOP A PROJECT LIKE THIS. HERE THE ELECTRIC CAR IS IN THE FIRST STEPS. CONGRATULATIONS I LIKED THE PROJECT .
Hello, very nice work. Im planning to do the same conversion to a 66 bug, do you have any tips or advice for someone who is doing this for the first time?
Looks amazing! I’m in the middle of a 1970 VW Beetle conversion and I noticed you mention the coolant pump and reservoir are in the “frunk”… but your reservoir seems to be lower than your battery box, right? Can you say more about how you achieved that? I would like to do the same due to space issues but I hear it should be the highest point in the coolant circuit… any advice??? Please please! By the way, I also used your rebuild of the front axle video! Good stuff!! Thank you!
Awesome conversation looking to do the same tipe of conversation to my 64 vw Beetle. If you don't mind me asking what was the top speed you'd get out of the motor and what was the range ?
hey guys, nice car! way before I was born the first ever car my father bought was a Karman Guia, so I have a special relationship with those cars! Is the weight distribution ok?
Question, where do you route your HV wires from the battery boxes to the motor controller? I see you went through the fire wall low down but did you route them through the heater channels or just along them inside the vehicle or outside the vehicle?
Hi I loved how you transformed the car from gas to electric. I want to know how much did you spend on the transformation, not including painting n bodywork. I have a fiber glass 1984 MGTD kit car n would love to do the same.
Gorgeous car curiosity how much does the electric motor weigh compared to the gasoline one in how much extra weight are the batteries compared to what would’ve been a full tank of gas at the time just looking for information but otherwise I absolutely love the car
Hello guys... thats great work, I'm from Brazil I have a VW Fusca(Beetle) 1974 and I intend to put the motor engine and electric batteries, your project was very clean, but here it is not very easy and cheap to get these equipment... if you can give me tips on how to acquire them, thank you!
What was his bill just to this point before the interior, insulation, carpet, weather seals, glass & radio? Are we talking 10K or more like $50K, $75..... What?
So you did this mod on a manual transmission ? Didn’t realize you could do that. So how do you know when to shift ? And couldn’t you burn out the clutch easily or damage the transmission ?
He went with a portable AC unit so he could have it easily removed for extra storage space. In the summer months he puts it in and runs it. You could with a conversion like this go with an electric heat pump for best efficiency, but he wanted to retain some space as the karman-ghia has limited storage space after batteries.
These "montages" give great build details, wetting the viewer's appetite to want one! But they never tell what it costs. So, what was the final bill to transform this ugly toad into a beautiful princess?
Only 125hp? Come on. Upgrade the suspension, brakes, & at least give this awesume body style its do. Make it 325hp. Even 185hp is better. I'm not saying build a monster. Just something more fun taking curves on country paved roads. Fireengine red nedds to be faster than 125hp.
Nope. Let the classic car be classic. Look at the butchery the poor car had to suffer. Any guy with mechanical skills can restore the body and overhaul an engine, while for an electric conversion, it takes more than that. Classic cars are harder and harder to find for a fair price, so why all that? I restored a '71 ghia sedan, and now I started with a '71 convertible , both with Type 4 engines , so I am not crazy either with keeping them very original. I love electric cars, I own a Tesla, and for nothing in the world, I would go back to an ICE but especially for Karmann Ghias, to turn them electrical or even put a big V8 in front, that's gross.
You leave off without giving any real indication of what kind of performance boost, numbers, top speed, acceleration, additional weight... more information please.

Absolutely!!
it's a beautiful thing to have these classic cars restored and electrified, giving them a second lease on life, and having more people enjoy them.
Great built. Love the paint. LOVE the montage - great soundtrack!
This has been the best restomod EV project I have seen so far. Well done guys.
Thanks! Lots of hours in the body but she will be a fantastic driver
I have this planned for my '66 Ghia Coupe. Looks so simple compared to wrestling with the Type-4 motor that is currently in it. Thanks for the great video!
Thanks for the compliment. The motor really is simple compared the air cooled beast. Plus no more oil leaks
Excellent use of Team America. Well played.
Beautiful car. Probably my favorite.
Had one back in ‘64-‘65, lots of fun. Cool little car. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽nice conversion👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Dan--really a good video detailing the quality work you guys do. What a challenge! Great job!
Thank you!! Definitely a challenging one!
Excellent rebuild, great job.
What a beautiful painting. I wish I have this car in my garage.
Muy bien felicidades por su trabajo de cuantos caballos es el motor eléctrico , voltaje es corriente continua o corriente directa? Saludos para todo su equipo de trabajo
Fantastic job - subbed!
Stunning job! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Working on my 69 ghia now! Hope to see you on the road! Great montage
Great work!!!
Thanks
Beautiful job👍👍👍
love your choice of the name, good video
Muy hermoso el carro, pregunto que precio puede tener un carro así?
Gracias
I love, love love your conversion to electric electric!💡⚡⭐👍
The car looks great and sounds good running.
The karmann Ghia is my all time favorite car!
I hope you will do my future Karmann Ghia the same way.🥰👏
Thanks for the great comment! We’d love to build another Karmann Ghia! Send us a DM on Instagram or Facebook and we can walk you through whole thing!
These Karman Ghia cars are cool especially with the frunk in the front
Karmann Electra !! ..love it! I want one...haha!
Great job!!
I see you not only do conversions but also restorations of the vehicles too.
‘Montage’, the stuff of beer commercials ‘round the world
Beautiful

MORE ELECTRIC CONVERSATION PLEASE.. THANKS 🙏🙏
Very cool
Amazing!!
Perfect car!

Beautiful build. What sort of range do you get using the Tesla batteries?
Thank you. So far it been getting great mileage. I bet we can push 150 or so.
nice

very cool. what's the weight comparison in electric vs the stock engine/full fuel?
I have a question for you. I have a 59 Ford Ranch wagon. What does Breaks will work on that. I saw that you took some off of Grenada for your 57.
How is the weight balance with the battery pack in front?
Very nice. Well done Männer. Greetings from Germany
Thank you. Greetings from Texas !!

DISS REPAIR
Approximately how many miles do you get per electric charge?
Great job Diss Repair!
It has been getting 150+ out of this combo. Thanks for asking
how much wiill you charge me to convert 1991 Jag XJS ?
Where can I buy this electric motor?
so why didn't you put the batteries under the floor boards and use a direct drive system with motors on either two or all four wheels?
Love the car, love the project, love the skill...really hate the paint scheme..
Cool build. Looks like the motor is going to eat that clutch though
Bitchen bitchen bitchen! Great job, lads!
Original motor 40hp on a good day , now 125 hp , better have a transmission cooler installed
Could you ball park the cost of the conversion with the work you performed and the parts?
Also, how long does it take to charge at home vs. charging station?
What was his bill just to this point before the interior, insulation, carpet, weather seals, glass & radio? Are we talking 10K or more like $50K, $75..... What?
My main concern with a conversion would be the batteries .... new? used ? How many dollars ??
So you did this mod on a manual transmission ? Didn’t realize you could do that. So how do you know when to shift ? And couldn’t you burn out the clutch easily or damage the transmission ?
It drives pretty conventionally. We do use upgraded clutches . We have a video on how it’s hooked up
I 👀, you moved the frunk to the rear.😄
Those cars have a lot of good useable space and yep the trunk could be the trunk for sure !
I like the boxer engine sound ☹️
Put the Air Cooled Flat 4 back in it!!
As someone from europe, born when Jimmy Carter went POTUS, I have only one word and a meme: Diss.. Where do I swipe..
No air conditioner?

Congratulations on removing every bit of soul out of that classic car. Well done…
Thanks glad you enjoyed it!! Messages like this keep us motivated!
best montage song EVER!!! where is that song from?
How much did this conversion cost? I've toyed with the idea but conversion kits are expensive and the results in terms of power and range seem dismal.
The power is far from dismal. It will beat many many modern cars away from the Lights.
Bet that Gia never pulled that many Gs before.
Wait until we take a EMP
Why does anyone keep the gearbox in an electric car? The electric motor doesn't need gears
These "montages" give great build details, wetting the viewer's appetite to want one! But they never tell what it costs. So, what was the final bill to transform this ugly toad into a beautiful princess?
A beautiful car and you have done an amazing job of restoring it, outstanding job... But putting a motor and a battery in it was sacrilege.. 😓
Wow, must be $$$$ to convert to electric car
Only 125hp? Come on.
Upgrade the suspension, brakes, & at least give this awesume body style its do.
Make it 325hp.
Even 185hp is better.

such heresy =(
Turned a classic into a worthless joke.
A waste.
How to butcher a classic car.
Looks like a rolling bomb to me.
You leave off without giving any real indication of what kind of performance boost, numbers, top speed, acceleration, additional weight... more information please.
All that empty space in the engine bay and the batteries had to go where the back seat should be?
Weight distribution?
Ghias have an enormous area behind the rear seat back
