Hail Hail Robert Gordon! One of the greatest singers ever. R.I.P.
My sister who passed fighting cancer, loved Robert. I took her to see him and southside Johnny. The memory of the joy of that show gave her is always with me. God Bless you Robert.
Condolences! She sounded special. I loved both Robert and SS Johnny. I wish I saw this live, glad I was able to catch Southside Johnny while in college in the 80’s.

"Robbie" (as he was then known) and I and Schwarzenegger's wife all went to the same junior high school, Western. It had another name when Maria Shriver went to it a few years after "Robbie" and me.
Local star Joe Triplett of the Rosslyn Mountain Boys, Hangmen, Reekers, the Flattops, and Claude Jones Band went to that school also. "Robbie" was in Grin, the band of Nils Lofgren, who became guitarist for Neil Young and Springsteen. "Robbie" performed with Springsteen. Socially associated acts included Danny Gatton.
Robbie performed also with Link Wray, whose music was used in the moving pictues Independence Day, Desperado, 12 Monkeys, and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. Local TV station owner and teen dance host Milt Grant got Link's royalties.
Well, hell.....two days ago I was chatting with a guy who tells me he used to manage a guy named Robert Gordon and he was quite sick. So I decided to look him up and what a talent! RIP

@@mungofinalfi4480 Its my understanding Bruce Springsteen wrote it in May 1977 after he attended an Elvis Presley concert in Philadelphia. He originally hoped to sell it to Elvis and have cover it and Springsteen sent the demo take to Presley shortly before his death. Then it went to Robert Gordon to cover for its initial release. It's such a cool song! So many talents.
God I love this version. Still think he does it better than Bruce. He was meant for this song. Holy Chr*st.

Link Wray was legend on his own, but is I got to choose Real Rockin, rockabilly licks, that ‘handmade’ tremolo (not a pedal) etc, I choose C Spedding .. Though, as an artist I love L Wray by far...
