    I like Ave McCree but Pete Rock is a GOD. You can't critique his beats. When he was making beats there was no knowledge base or RUclips to learn from. Also his knowledge and exposure to Jazz records. Man this is something that you should not be doing. Back then he had to make his own drum kits not like the ones everybody downloads now. He's a pioneer. and time stretching wasn't as easy as it is now the MPC wasn't like the MPC we know today. Anybody can buy a MPC today and make beats but they are not doing what Pete Rock did

    I say let'em know about the MPC 2000XL. I bought one at the beginning of the year and left the Maschine. I haven't looked back since. It's a whole different expereicne working on the 2000XL. It really teaches you how to get the most out of what you sample and live with it to come up with something dope. With the new machines we can make tracks very quick however, we are giving up the full substance a sample can carry off of a record. My opinion if you're a sample based beat maker... is that you have to become a good curator of music and this just further helps with that skill. The last thing about the XL is the tone it gives off too. One thing I noticed that is greatly missed these days when we make music, is the texture of music.

      @towerrunner4675 Год назад +2

    Original Compositions vs Samples really depends on who's doing the sampling. ART OF NOISE were doing the Killer Instinct Combo Ultra when rnb groups and live bands were trying to figure out what the heck was that???

    Track 2 was a 10. For those who don’t know. Pete Rock was THE guy who turned beat making from simply DJing behind rapping into actual production. Legend. I like Pete’s modern sound too, let him cook.

    sampling has evolved to making something original and then resampling it. make a chord progression, sample it, chop it and pitch/process. it’s all about context.

    I use to have a 2000 back in the day and it was a great machine,you would spend hours chopping and pitching samples and breaks making things fit and maybe that’s the difference with todays Mpc’s because they are so powerful and quick people don’t spend time properly manipulating the sample with either pitch or chops or whatever , todays auto slice and time stretch is so easy that if if ain’t working we can throw it away and start again but back then we committed so much time to a sample that we would make it work as starting again would mean chucking hours and hours away and also not having the sample fit perfectly was sometimes the magic of the track . Ps Ave definitely get an MPC 2000xl if you can.

    I don't mind samples at all. I love Pete Rock beats, however, I enjoy his older stuff over most of his newer stuff. Most..not all of his beats have become not very interesting. Then he hits you with one or two that let you know he's still the master.

    No disrespect to Pete Rock but in UK Hiphop there have been many, many, many beats exactly like this produced for over 20 years, infact this exact old school sample chop boom bap beats is still the preferred UK Hiphop sound, and I can list to you alot of examples of dope UK Hiphop producers work. Should be noted that UK Grime and Drill have always been separate from UK Hiphop.

      @@RnBGarvey No one as well known as Pete Rock or with the legacy, but I have been hearing beats just as good as this with the exact same old school MPC sample vibe in the UK for decades, they are probably inspired By Pete Rock and other OGs in the game anyway so not really a surprise.
