    Pete is my favorite beat maker/Producer in Hip-Hop. Thanks for sharing this. BTW, the 12-inch remix of "Take You There" is my favorite beat of his. The way he flipped that "Nautilus" jawn using that bassline was insane. Much respect!

      That “Take You There Remix” is so slept on. My favorite PR flip of Nautilus is “It’s Like That” with the Lox. Classic joint which he originally used on the last episode of the Arsenio Hall Show.

    wish there was an interview of him which he goes in details about his sounds, not that deep just to the extend so I could hear the thoughts of master himself. he is my teacher and coach I learned my style and everything I know from his songs, having a vocal guide would be more than anything as there is no video out there like that

    • @Darie2006
      @Darie2006 8 месяцев назад

      All of his music os not black american samples …. And he said alot of the Jamaican sound influenced how he created his songs… ie deep grooving bass lines, very crispy tigh drums and very dreamy effects…. You definitely never listened to dub, ska, and reggae of the 70s…. James Brown is his idol but his sound is based off what was played in his household y his father…. I dont think he said anything wrong you just want to interpret it how you want to interpret it

    I have been listening to Pete since my homeboy passed me the promo cassette for Mecca and the Soul Brother back in 1990. I still rock an instrumental playlist of his to this day. I think one of his most slept on beats is "For Petes Sake". That beat alone, contains at least 3 loops that he could have easily used for separate songs and this doesn't include the ill break change up. The way this dude layers, blends and fades them in and out like a Classical Orchestra conductor and back then in 91 is still other worldly. And I swear it was his beats that contained bass-lines that were waaay thicker and deeper than everyone before him.

      it's annoying, but it's not knuckles it seems to be his beads necklace rubbing against his mic on the neck hole when he's moving
      the person who fixed his mic isn't very professional
      plus post production engineers aren't either, i believe with AI tools this artifact could have been removed or made much quieter
