I love how Lex just lets the music flow over her and take control, a true free spirit :)
Lex would have loved Woodstock in 1969. lol...
@@jenniferjacobs228 only if Brad wasn't w/ her.
Steve Miller Band is the definition of a classic rock band.
Agreed, many of Steve Miller's songs were the soundtrack of the '70s.
Classic/blues rock imo 👍
True, but they had their origins in the hippie (jam band) scene of the late 1960s San Francisco. They played on the same bills with the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, and Santana
pre - Abracadabra.
@@TheSadpunk0 a bill does not define a genre. Jefferson Airplane is psychedelic rock and Santana is Latin-infused rock. Another example would be my first concert: Hatebreed, Arch Enemy with Slayer headlining at the Mesa Amphitheater. Hatebreed is hardcore, Arch Enemy is melodic death metal, and Slayer is thrash
It's more like a Bonnie and Clyde scenario. They both robbed someone. She left with the money. Then the two of them met up the next day. They got away with the robbery and they're still runnin. :) Love your reactions!!!!
A perfectly edited version.
Well said!
Linda Carter did that🙂
Traveling Wilburys Traveling Wilburys the Traveling Wilburys they have a song Tweeter and the monkey man
Traveling the Traveling Wilburys they got lots of good people in there Roy Orbison I don't know
Brad & Lex, you'll love their "Jet Airliner" and "Junglelove"!!! Steve was a hit machine back in the day.
Jet airliner is correctly sung, as loud as you can,- "Bingo Jed had a light on!"
Godson of les paul
And Rock'n Me.
@@debjorgo And True Fine Love and Dance Dance Dance...
Yes! Dance Dance Dance! Great song!
Just wanted to tell you two, my brother, 72, came to visit, and I (65) told him I accidentally found these reaction videos and can't get enough of them. He said him too! We both said you two are our favorites, and how we watch and before we know it hours have gone by and we still have to hear at least one more.😊
Can't go wrong with Steve Miller. Born to play guitar when your godfather is Les Paul.
Ooh, another factoid for long term storage in my silly, silly brain.
But he played a Strat haha.
Ohh…so many Steve Miller Band songs to choose from. They are 70’s rock to me. Hope you get to a few more of them.
Steve Miller grew up in Texas, so he incorporated a clapping segment from a traditional pro-Texas song "Deep In The Heart Of Texas", to get the vibe he was looking for. Worked.
Love it. So clever. Go figure. Texas is the best.
The scene in Pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure with that song just KILLS me 🤣🤣
@@brettkenschaft4239 “there’s no basement in the Alamo!”
The claps after Texas is the clap from ' the stars are big and bright in " deep in the heart Texas
Close
It's "the stars at night are big..."
Ah, didn't know, but it makes sense!
Simple old school story telling with a killer beat 🔥
This is the story in the song: Billy Joe shot a man when he was robbing his home. Bobbi Sue is his girlfriend, and she took the money and ran. They split up and went different directions, a detective started hunting them down, and they met back up again later. They headed down south (sountern USA, or Mexico? Who knows?) and they're still running today - they got away with it.
Yeah, I mean, it's one of the simplest, most straight-forward, easiest to understand songs you could listen to. I think next time they should definitely listen with lyrics. ;)
Townes Van Zandt - "The Road Goes On Forever And The Party Never Ends" - - a song that is mentioned in another song by Todd Snider called "Beer Run"
*Mr. Miller was my boss in the early 80s up to when he sold his ranch in Williams OR in 1986. He's Mr. Chill and the place was beautiful....plus I loved the evening horse rides with the daughter of the caretaker.*
Steve Miller Band one of my favs. I got to see them twice live. Really cool & laid back shows...
As Billy Preston sang in "Will It Go Round In Circles" ... "I've got a story, ain't got no moral ... let the bad guy win once in a while." That's pretty much this song. "Hey ... you know they got away."
I like a Traveling Wilburys brother the Traveling Wilburys Got a song called Twitter
You may have heard a Roy and Tom Petty I don't know
Love it! And yeah Lex, you nailed it with the jam band thing. Their arrangements were so perfect and they are such a precision band and so damn tight but they're also good enough that they can have fun within that structure. I've done similar things in bands I've been in and it just so feels so good when your band is firing on all cylinders and you can just totally let loose and have fun like that and it still sounds perfect. I love how this story is just told so casually and off-hand, like you're just briefly mentioning it to a friend on the sidewalk when you stop to talk, like a bit of gossip, lol.
Basically a couple of slackers that just sit around and get high and watch TV all day and then get bored and they decide to go rob this guy's house. They end up shooting him in the process. They shot a man while robbing his castle. They grabbed the money and fled and basically they're on the run forever now. Great reaction!
Classic Steve - a favourite from a fine album. Brad unmoved by it.
haha. Yeah, such a great song, and Brad looked completely unimpressed.
This song is complete shit, as is all of Steve Miller's stuff.
Steve Miller's first Love is the Blues, his category is probably considered Rock Blues.
All Steve Miller's albums are solid right up to Book of Dreams. Their first 3 albums have of that late 60s phsycdelic rock sound.
That drum...
That clap x 5...
That Awooooo Lawd!!!
My fave Steve Miller Band songs are: Space Cowboy, Livin’ in the USA, Motherless Children, Your Saving Grace, and Going to the Country. All are from the era before he became super famous.
Somebody gimme a CHEESEBURGER,,,,👍🤪
Jet Airliner! Classic intro.
I love the clapping when Texas is mentioned, I always clap along! Lol
It’s so cute to see you young’uns react to classic rock songs. 😂
I could watch her react to anything she has a perfect reaction and also. Beautiful
A jam band is a band that jams.
Jet Airliner is another great classic!
Steve Miller Band always made me think if Classic rock was Arrows on a compass, the southern point would be Skynyrd, and the Northern point would be Steve Miler. I know thats weird but Im flexing my inner Lex on this one, loved these bands I discovered through my parents albums as a kid.
Steve opened my first Grateful Dead show, 6/6/92 Buffalo.
Allman Brothers are considered a Jam Band. "Mountain Jam" is song by them that is good example. Also One Way Out (Live)
Excellent!! FLY LIKE A EAGLE IS 🔥
🎶Billy Joe shot a man while robbing his castle🎶 I always loved that line
Most bands from the 70s are "jam bands" when performing live. They tend to extend songs from their studio albums when done in concert. It's not unusual to watch bands take a 4 minute song originally to a ten minute jam... it is definitely a lost art now days.
Yep. Record execs and radio stations wouldn't touch long songs on a record. The exception was The Eagles 'Hotel California' . They told the band "You can't have a 7 minute song with half of it a duet between two guitarists."
The Eagles said "Yes we can", and we all know how that turned out.
@@bent-one2545 lol well said
Won Steve Miller tickets off the radio in the 90s. I wasn’t a huge fan but DAMNIT ol boy puts on a great show.
The ultimate chill music for when the party is winding down.
Never seen a bloke less engaged with, or impressed by, a song! 😂 Looks like he'd rather be watching the game! - meanwhile, there's his girl enjoying it, looking over to see if he's still awake...😂
Steve Miller and the Boys are still touring and they still sound good. I'm going to see them at Red Rocks, Denver, Colorado in August. I recommend them. Not sure how many tours they have left.
Once again you two, another 8-Track from my case back in high school.
That album cover is so familiar.
Simple classic rock n' roll. A story. A beat. Simple lyrical structure that puts the music front and center
One of my favorite songs from the 70s
Classic rock and roll at its best
Those parts where there are the claps are always right after he mentions a place in Texas. It’s a nod to the old song “Deep in the Heart of Texas.”
Steve Miller is just badass in their way. I ran to get the album. Love it!
She’s so much fun to watch.
Steve Miller is a great musician and comrade. Gotta love him.
This is the music from my teen years.
It reminds me of going to Land Park in Sacramento to play summer baseball.
After the double-header we'd go to the river for a few brews..
That was in Dave Serley's Ford Bobcat.
Glad you like the tune, cuz there's tons of them from those times.
I just flashed back to 1976. I'm 16 and in my friend's basement. A few of the guys took a small amount of booze out of every bottle in their parent's liquor cabinet. We then played Fly Like An Eagle and got drunk and most likely sick later that night. We all thought we got away with so many things at that age, but I think the parents knew more than they let on.
Love Gary Mallaber's drums on this one. So much groove.
Jam band I never heard that term but definitely describes it, I could see them & early Chicago and Grand Funk in there
This was my friends wedding 💑 song .. Steve Miller Band has a ton of great music 🎶 🎵
Steve Miller band is just a good quality fun band.
Brad, "Abracadabra!!"
Lex, "Jungle Love!!"
❤👍🏽🥳
Can't remember how long it took me to realize the connection between the clapping and El Paso and Texas.
I haven’t been to their concert but I hear their good i know Steve is a great guitar player
You're totally right lex that is exactly what a jam band is
Paused at 0:01...I'm going to go out on limb here and predict that the first word spoken by Brad is "Alright!"
EDIT: Nailed it!
👍😁
Stevie Miller Band's Greatest Hits was in EVERY record collection I ever saw growing up. It's now in mine too. ✌❤🇨🇦
I dig this tune. Rock on Brad & Lex
I love this song. Great reaction yall
It’s amazing how his whole catalogue is lost to time because he was one of the biggest bands of the 70’s and 80’s. Maybe I’m just from San Francisco but he was massive in my city
Steve Miller lays down a master glass in electric guitar strumming on this one.
see the trick is, to time it for the clapping, you miss the clapping and then ya screw the song up. in fact the clapping is probably the best part of the song. and this, Lex, wow, talk about pretty and a killer smile. friggin heart melter.
I remember listening to 'Abracadabra' on vinyl & head phones at my Uncle's house when I was um yrs old...
For a similar themed song you could try The Grateful Dead's song Me and My Uncle. They're definitely a jam band.
Nobody reacts to Grateful Dead.
@@jamesclapp6832 Some do but not enough. Yeah, I was going to say if they want to listen to a "jam band" then the Grateful Dead are the band to go to.
That's an understatement...the "Dead" is THE jam band. Well, them, and The Allman Brothers...peace out!✌😎
@@anthonyhedberg6471 We're on the same page.
Ya i knew Lex love stevemiller shes a rocker 1965 would have been a good time for her birth year she would have fit in perfect
Great song. I've had the album it's from right from when it first came out in '76. Love Steve Miller.
Their "Rockn'Me" is really good!
This couple is the Best!!
It's great to see people being exposed to all of this music I've been listening to for about 50 years. Again I will say he is Mr. Cool and she really feels it and loves the Guitar solos.
This song was just about to Bonnie and Clyde type situation
Gov't Mule is one of the Greatest Jam Bands
Brad generally looks very perplexed and you always look very happy Lex
Brad's like "who shot who?" "He shot the girl?" LOL.
I love, when they feature the organs and synth. This song is good, too.
I would say that any band that has actual musicians in it can be a "jam band". A band that many of us love to hear jam is the good old Grateful Dead. Nice reaction.
Jam/House band . All good musicians that flow together .
An early banger by Steve Miller is Living In The USA -- starts with a drag race!
"Jet Airliner" got to hear it!! ❤️
Maestro Fresh Wes - Let Your Backbone Slide
Steve Miller Band definitely jam well together! Improvising, riffing etc. "Space Intro/Fly Like an Eagle" "Wild Mountain Honey" "Threshold/Jet Airliner" "Jungle Love" "Abracadabra" "Swingtown" "Cool Magic" the full-length songs are quite good, so beware of videos chopping and/or censoring the music.
If you want to learn about Jam Bands, you must start with the Grateful Dead, Dear Mr. Fantasy/Hey Jude live in 1989. It's on the band's YT channel, and is the best intro to jam band music possible, imo. There are two Dead songs where you should check out the studio versions, those being "Ripple" and "New Speedway Boogie" because they are great songs that were not heavily played, and most of the live versions are idiosyncratic to say the least. For the rest of the "Jam" part of it, start with "Walk Me Out in the Morning Dew," any live recording from 1969 or 1970 (some will get mad at me and say to check out 72, 77, 89 etc, but I'm right) will do just fine, as a launching off point. Bonus Points for doing "Cold Jordan" from the 1970 Harpur College show. Mindblowing.
MILLER TIME! YEA BOY!
My first concert 1976, I was 10
Steve Miller, “Rock ‘N Me”, “Living in the USA”, “Jet Airliner”, “I Want To Make The World Turn Around”
I always sang it “that’s where they ran into a great big asshole” when I was a kid.
100 bucks says Lex will love "Livin in the USA."
Steve Miller Band
Jungle Love
Wild Mountain Honey
"Serenade" is a killer SMB song
The one CD (Greatest Hits) I could play at college parties (late 80's/early 90s) without having shit thrown at me.
You 2 are a blast.
Tv Commercials love using this song 😅
I`ve got a Steve Miller Band Live album. It`s fantastic to dance to while cleaning.
70s cocaine music at it'sbest. Three chord masters. This (Steve Miller's Greatest hit's 74-78) was in the background at every party at the time. Yep.
I believe they made a movie based on this song. Love Steve Miller Band. Yes they are a jam band.
Lexi digs Steve Miller. 🙃
Another fun steve miller song from the 70s. A little bit southern sounding. Jam band is more like grateful dead but some of his earlier live stuff is looser and more about improvising (jamming) A very catchy song you can sing along with.
"Sittin 'round the house gettin' high - watchin' yube." Beastie Boys stole that line .......
Love that shuffle intro!
“Jam Bands” are a lot more experimental and improvising on a theme while playing live. Musically, it’s closer to Jazz in that regard.
Steve Miller Band was a straight up 70s rock band; their music is much more standard verse-chorus-verse-solo-chorus structure.
You want a great jam band, check out String Cheese Incident.
I still prefer the original, the Grateful Dead. Changed my life. I saw SCI at a wedding once in Colorado. Great night.
Umpires McGee is a great jam band
love me some String Cheese Incident at Electric Forest. Wow that was 10 yrs ago ☺️
lovin your reaction girl
Could you imagine what the reaction to this song would be if it was released now.
Ok....let's go back and listen one more time.....
It's hard to find a bad track on that album. I guess the next best one for new people would probably be Fly Like an Eagle.
Time Keeps on Slipping into the Future. Spacey sound with a message.
