    Amish people's homes are free if they have to rebuild because of a fire or something catastrophic. The Amish insure theirselves each person pays into the fund based on the size and value of their structure and then if something happens everybody bands together and rebuilds it, like you see this giant barn in your video. If the rest of the world acted the way the Amish do I think it'd be a better place they truly believe in helping their neighbor and community and I don't see nothing wrong with that.

  • @Finnleigh.Jackson4141

    Don't forget, you need a village to build these houses. See how many men it needs?

  • @Kneißle
    @Kneißle Месяц назад +12

    Well, true, amish have traditionally built post and beam barns, but not so much anymore except in the most traditional groups; and definitely not solid stone construction. The average Amish house is stick framed, tyvek, and vinyl. Building costs may be less because of shared labor. In many places, building codes no longer allow using one's own rough-sawn lumber. Because they host church services in their homes, they desire an open floor plan. To a large part, this is why Amish often demolish the old, traditional stone (or other material) houses, and rebuild something much larger using modern materials.

      When there's a bunch of trees growing where you want to build your house, and you cut down the trees so you can use the wood to build your house, you don't plant trees to replace them, because you don't want trees growing inside your house.

    • @extended_e
      @extended_e 14 дней назад

      Also many climates don't need replanting if you don't harvest too many trees from one spot, forest will naturally regenerate and actually needs this culling as forest fires are not allowed to their natural job anymore due risks involved. Naturally forest would keep forest from growing too thick and then all dying out due lack of nutrients and light.

Not having electricity and indoor plumbing does cut down on cost, but other than the Amish who would want to live in such structures. The use of power tools makes things go quicker and faster.
