I LOVE 60s to 70s fashion and while I am by no means a fashion historian, as someone that tries to learn about all aspects is fashion, 70s fashion is about the easiest aesthetic to emulate. This time in fashion also showed a wide array of aesthetics, from space age, mod, punk, classic rock and roll style. there's the romanticism renaissance that brought back antique Victorian and Edwardian styles (think the cottagecore gunne sax era that emerged in the 70s). It's also really easy to recreate the aesthetic with even really modern pieces. Like slap on a turtleneck and suede mini skirt and you have a 60s mod-ish look.
I could honestly go on and on about the INCREDIBLE amount of creativity and birth of quintessential "aesthetics" that emerged during the 70s. It TRULY is the most important decade in fashion
I remember in the 90's there was a period that people made their jeans more flaired by cutting them open at one side of each leg and sew a piece of fabric in between. They used eye-catching pieces of fabric, because it was cool and they wanted it to be seen. I think this was a rock music style.
I did this with fabric and fabric glue with flares I thrifted in 1998. Then in 2000 it was big a$$ raver jeans with fabric inserts to make them pool out much bigger at the bottom. It looked like you were floating while walking 😂
@@le4905 Yes they were supposed to be long too. Hitting the ground. I think we did more like a rock style and used bandanas as a fabric to sew or glue in the legs of the jeans. Or other fabric that you liked. But it was like rock style in the Gun's n Roses/Bon Jovi etc. period more at the beginning of the 90's (in Europe). Raver jeans i never had and I have looked them up online and It resembled the pants that goth kids wore at that time. I had other sort of big jeans, they where skater/hip hop style. To be more exact they where very wide overalls in hiphop style. But most of the time i wore a wide sweater over them so it looked like a normal wide jeans. This around 1997/98 fir me. But there where al kind of kids with differents styles. Our rave kids wore a different style, because that was only in Europe.
Often bugs me a little when ppl say the colours of the 70s are not for them, because other then Iike literal neon colours, 70s fashion rlly has every colour and shade (that’s one of the reasons I love to wear it ❤), but I looove seeing people experiment with it and trying it out, literally everyone looks so good in it 😍 Also looove the hair, Alexaaa
kills me how much you doubt yourself and your eye for spotting fashion! every piece you pulled out could seamlessly fit into the 70s daisy jones aesthetic! you are so good at what you do and pulling certain pieces so definitely trust yourself more! easier said than done i know but we trust you! you know what you're doing
You did a great job and looked great in all the outfits you came up with. The pink velvet dress that you didn’t take home was definitely a 70s dress. Also the maxi dress that was sleeveless and it had the tears with the flowers and blue tiers that was definitely a hippies dress. Great video.
shocked you don't think this is your vibe! you looked AMAZING and you definitely have an eye for pulling these pieces together! obviously wearing what you love is most important but i did think you killed this challenge!
❤❤❤❤ first outfit needs the fringe vest with those boots. With the black vest, the black & flower oots peeping next to your magical green boots on your shoe rack
I was born in the 70s. Popular stuff in the early to mid 70s in NJ: fringe, patchwork, flare/ bell bottoms, corduroy, suede, earthy colors, embroidery, wavy/ braided hair, tie dye… I do a mix of rocker/ punk meets boho/ artsy/ academic for my general style now.
I don’t remember cardigans as a thing. We wore ponchos for a while. The bell bottoms were hip huggers. Halter dresses, yes. Halters in general, with minis or short shorts. Tube tops. That velvet dress looks very 70s. That cute white top with the eyelet or lace. Hope it fits. Shape and sleeves looked 70s.
This was so fun!! You totally killed it! The only change I would make for myself is to pair the color of your jackets/vests with your shoes. So the black suede vest with your black floral cowboy boots and the brown fringe vest/brown fur coat with your platform boots or brown cowboy boots.
For the flared pants, seam rip the side seam of the legs up to the knee, then add in a triangle shaped piece of additional fabric to that opening and boom, bigger flare. You could do another color denim or a pattern fabric or anything you like. If you use fabric glue instead of sewing it takes all of 5 minutes.
those purple shorts 🔥that slip is a very pretty color and I love a gathered empire bust i think the pink velvet dress does go because of the neckline and is cute
STOP❣️🙂 As soon as I got this notification I immediately stopped what I was doing and settled in to enjoy this vide….maybe a top favorite of mine that I’ve seen over the several years I’ve subscribed to your channel, Alexa! Though it’s outside your proverbial “comfort zone”, this aesthetic is RIGHT up my alley. You could have shopped MY closet for this one 💕🙂 70’s/boho/now Daisy Jones is my favorite stuff to wear especially since I lived and wore this stuff the FIRST time around! Penny Lane coats, bell-bottoms, fringe, suede, velvet, etc etc. YES please! Brings back happy memories 🙂 It would have been hilarious watching me watching you doing this video, as you picked up and discussed each item at the thrift store I was nodding yes or no and begging you to keep certain stuff or put others back! In the end you did GREAT choosing and styling these outfits! I adore the faux suede fringe vest in particular ❤️ And the denim vest you were wearing for the try-on haul is SUPER cute, can you share the company that’s on the label I hope? Thanks for making my day with this one 😘 Peace and Love!
I love to mix rocker chick with boho Loved the see trough poppy dress And knitware fringed for shure is a must in my wardrobe Love the yellow rose dress Love the velvet pants! Love the dress too. I would love to score some velvet items! OMG I loved the teared dress. Loved the color and the roses Love your boho hairdo! The fringed vest, yes! Love the white top you picked out Love the faux fur jacket and I love your patched blaser. Hugs, grate video!
I loved the first outfit so much and the white crochet top was dreamy! But I was literally screaming at the screen for you to get that velvet dress! It would have been so perfect!
I love thrifting vintage 70's pieces and have quite a few in my everyday wardrobe....I find them super easy to wear. That said, I do enjoy when you thrift for items or aesthetics that you are totally into, rather than ones you aren't "feeling". Much more enjoyable to watch the thrift portion on those videos.......
When you showed the images of daisy Jones, I literally already wear all the same clothes, I havnt even watched it or know anything about it. I really want to watch it but dont think I only have Netflix and Disney plus which I dont think it's on them?? I love western bohemian with a bit of 70s, love mamma Mia 😂😂😂
The first brown boots are on point! And you should have gotten the Velvet purple/pink dress/top from Savers! It was SOOO good!! 😮 Definitely need wider leg pants! I know they show cowboy boots as the style. But that's a western style. Where I live on the east coast of the USA, we don't wear them.
I think the white square neck top you wore in outfit 1 would look amazing as the top for outfit 2 with the zara Jeans. Your hairstyle is amazing in this video very 70's. Love the video as always
I remember wearing lots of plaid knit polyester clothing 70 - 75, then 76 - 79, moving into denim and corduroy low-rise bell bottoms. Lots of browns, greens, golds, and oranges. Green is the only color out of the 4 I will wear, and it can not be an avocado green. I also do not like low-rise anything. My older sister was really into crocheted items.
Idk why people pigeon hole themselves into just doing the boho aesthetic when they think of 70s 😩 there’s so many different options to choose from. It was the birth of whimsy-goth thanks to our queen Stevie Nicks, you could go for the MOD aesthetic since it was still in style during the 70s, disco is a very easy and fun option, then there’s the glam rock style that artists like Queen and Led Zeppelin embodied. You could even do a 70s work wear look with a funky turtleneck and a maxi skirt or some flared corduroys. So many options! The boho/summer of love style is obviously iconic, but it is not the only way to represent the decade 🫶🏼
Definitely would be open to trying more in the future! This one was just dedicated to this aspect since it comes from the show and for anyone that has been interested in specifically this style ❤
I loved all the outfits, what a fun aesthetic to try! True flares are so hard to find, I've had to by them new especially since I need a short length. I was also excited to see the fringe vest, it would make sense since you already like vests, experimenting with fringe in that way would be a safe risk to take. I don’t know if I would ever watch the show but I love the fashion it’s inspiring!
I watch your videos and try to thrift but I cannot find a thing! I'm glad you can enjoy it. The shops here do not have my style, unless it's shein which I would not buy new.
It’s killing my that you don’t think this is your aesthetic!!! You have SUCH a late 60s/70s vibe!!
I thought the same thing! As soon as miss Alexa pulled up with the long wavy hippie hair with braids I was like… this is your perfect style😍
The velvet pinkish dress is the one thing you put back that I wish you had gotten… but you definitely hit the vibe ❤

@@eliushi6220 Ahh, I see. So slightly different from what we did during that time, but same idea!
My mom and her sisters did that in the 70’s
Some people to look into if you want to get into 70s fashion are: Twiggy, Bianca Jagger, Stevie Nicks, Shelly Duvall, Jane Birkin, Patti Smith, etc.
I am still wondering why poor Shelley Duvall was in that freaky short. She was no fashion icon btw.
Often bugs me a little when ppl say the colours of the 70s are not for them, because other then

Great job ! I say put the blue jeans with the crochet crop top, belt, brown fringe vest over with brown boots. Perfect 70’s outfit
shocked you don't think this is your vibe! you looked AMAZING and you definitely have an eye for pulling these pieces together! obviously wearing what you love is most important but i did think you killed this challenge!
You could also pair a prairie or tiered dress with your brown boots and the fringe vest for a more feminine 70s look
I love this outfits. You actually really suit 70s style. Looks very cute
I feel like this style/vibe really harmonizes your natural essence of playful, earthy, and bold. 10/10 continue dressing like this! ❤️
the sage/blue top is perfect thooooo
That’s flower dress with the sleeves was literally perfect with brown cowboy boots
you look SO GOOD with those blue jeans on!!! Makes me want to buy some and see how I like them on myself lol! You killed these outfits!!
Sunday is my Alexa Sunshine83 Day❤️
💛💛💛💛
Alexa you totally fit the 70s vibe girl 🙌🏻
❤❤❤❤ first outfit needs the fringe vest with those boots.
With the black vest, the black & flower oots peeping next to your magical green boots on your shoe rack
12:45 NO THAT DRESS IS PERFECT. If i had thrifted it- i would spend one of my entire videos talking about it 😭
I think you should try this challenge again but focus on 70’s fashion, don’t limit yourself to the aesthetics of a show you haven’t seen. ❤
Girl!!!! Those jeans are sooooooo cute! You have the body shape to pull those off!!!! Omgosh!! I love all the outfits but holy … those jeans!
Sew inserts on the side of the flare jeans. You could even use faux suede.
Loveeeeee the blue puff sleeve top
So fun! Your patchwork jacket, the blue Zara "flares," and the white top would have looked great together too I think!:)
I loved this book and series!! And the style looks gorgeous on you!
I was born in the 70s. Popular stuff in the early to mid 70s in NJ: fringe, patchwork, flare/ bell bottoms, corduroy, suede, earthy colors, embroidery, wavy/ braided hair, tie dye… I do a mix of rocker/ punk meets boho/ artsy/ academic for my general style now.
your hair is absolutely slaying in this video😍😍
your hair in the try on portion is UNREAL
☺️❤️
The first top and brown boots would also pair well with a denim maxi or midi skirt
Good on you for veering out of your comfort zone 👏🏼 Love your videos, btw. You're like the older sister I never had ❤️
❤️❤️❤️❤️
This style looks so good on you. Loving your hair like that too
I love that pink velvet dress 😍🥰
Obsessed with this style atm, it suits you so well! Wish I could find more relevant pieces when thrifting 😭😭
Omg I love love love your long hair!!!! And the 70s style looks good on you 😍
I don’t remember cardigans as a thing. We wore ponchos for a while. The bell bottoms were hip huggers. Halter dresses, yes. Halters in general, with minis or short shorts. Tube tops. That dusty mauve velvet dress was incredible! It could be even better with the sleeves cut off.
I love the Daisy Jones and the Sixes style!!
love this so much! i’d love to see how you’d style the pieces to fit your own style in addition to the 70’s vibe!
Your hair in the try on haul section 😮😮😮😮😍😍😍😍😍😍
This was so fun!! You totally killed it! The only change I would make for myself is to pair the color of your jackets/vests with your shoes. So the black suede vest with your black floral cowboy boots and the brown fringe vest/brown fur coat with your platform boots or brown cowboy boots.

Future video idea: thrift with me for my Barbie movie outfit
Your hair and the fringe vest outfit are such a VIBE 🧡✌🏻
I’m so in love with the first outfit!! The shorts are such a pretty color! 💖🔥
I feel like that velvet dress might be something Camila or Simone would wear! So right on the era and show, just not for Daisy Jones.
I loveee your car shirt
It’s still 1970 Divinely, and my 2026 H&M platform shoes are my fave.
Love the hair❤
Loved them all
Your hair looks beautiful down & wavy like this!
I think the white square neck top you wore in outfit 1 would look amazing as the top for outfit 2 with the zara Jeans. Your hairstyle is amazing in this video very 70's. Love the video as always
I seriously love all 3 outfits you created!
This video was so fun! Love this 70s vibe!! The last outfit is my favourite, so gorgeous ❤
love your videos! all the outfits looked so good on you
One way to incorporate fringe if it isn't really your style - is to wear it as an accessory (e.g. a brown or black leather fringe bag).
I remember wearing lots of plaid knit polyester clothing 70 - 75, then 76 - 79, moving into denim and corduroy low-rise bell bottoms. Lots of browns, greens, golds, and oranges. The denim on denim look you’re wearing in the haul portion is so Billy Dunne
My favourite aesthetic and basically my whole wardrobe fine tuned😅
Is a cute style for you and very summertime fresh. The hair is very "Daisy the 6"❤😊Fun!Thanks
I loved all the outfits, what a fun aesthetic to try! True flares are so hard to find, I've had to by them new especially since I need a short length. I love your hair like this and I think you did really slay the aesthetic!
loved the purple slip dress!
You have definitely picked 70's style clothes am from the 1970's and love your picks.
Loved that tiered denim dress at Savers. It killed me that you put it back
I watch your videos and try to thrift but I cannot find a thing! I'm glad you can enjoy it. The shops here do not have my style, unless it's shein which I would not buy new.
Love the belt
