- Brian Keith was a television actor best known for his portrayal as Uncle Bill on the hit 1960s sitcom Family Affair. That show saw the actor cast as a wealthy engineer raising his brother’s orphaned children in a luxurious New York City apartment. The show became a massive success with audiences, running for five seasons and generating 138 episodes from 1966 to 1971. Although Brian had already had a breakout role in 1961’s hit Disney comedy The Parent Trap, his role as Uncle Bill proved to be the one that solidified the actor as an icon of his generation.

After his role on Family Affair came to an end, Brian never quite regained the immense success that he had seen on that sitcom. He performed in several other film and television roles throughout the remainder of the 1970s before finally deciding to work more sporadically in the period spanning from 1980 until his death in 1997.
Brian was married three times over the course of his life, and had seven children. Four of these children were biological, while three were adopted. Of the four biological children, two met with tragic fates well before their time.
The first of Brian’s biological children to meet a tragic fate was Michael, who died of pneumonia at an early age. The second was Daisy, who committed suicide. Around the time of Daisy’s suicide, Brian was going through several other life events, including financial troubles and two serious illnesses. With all of this pressure weighing down on the actor, he decided that it was time to do something drastic. Join Facts Verse as we explore the tragic events that lead to Brain Keith’s death (from Family Affair).

He was a wonderful actor. I never missed "Family Affair" growing up. The whole cast was perfect. So sad he had such heartache in his later years.
He was a very good actor. I remember him in Disney's "The Parent Trap" and also in "Hooper" - both great films. It saddened me when I heard about his death. To this day he is still one of my favorites.
i loved Brian Keith's role as judge Milton C. Hardcastle in the TV series Hardcastle & McCormick. RIP Brian Keith.
Loved him also in Hardcastle and McCormick. He was quite versatile but had a lot of tragedy as well.R.I.P. Brian with Daisy way up high...
He was so good in Hardcastle, Lynda!

Yes he was. A great actor that should have been in more films than tv.
I loved Mr. Keith as judge Milton Hardcastle, I loved the show. Mr Keith deceased three days before my beloved grandfather passed away..
My favorite roll of Brian Keith"s was in, "The Mountain Men" with Charleston Heston!
Even If The Original "Parent Trap" Is "Old," It's A Classic. AND, I LOVED Their Dad That he Portrayed In The Movie!!!! I LOVE The Original "Parent Trap!!!!"
I loved Brian Keith and followed his career but never knew about him and his daughter. So tragic but I get it. Losing a kid is rough to live with. So sad.
It's okay, rest assured they found peace at last. Whatever the circumstances, God forgives.
Great actor, more importantly a great man !💔
Interesting story, he was a good actor, may he rest in peace 🙏, great video thanks 💖😁
Very likable charismatic man. I started watching family Affair when i was young. I liked the role he played in centennial and Nevada smith. I still try to watch everything he acts in. It’s always good.
He's so good in everything he's in, Stan!
Brian Keith was great, Those Calloways, Family Affair, The Parent Trap and With Six You Get Eggroll, my personal favorites.

Only show I knew him from was The Parent Trap which I still love. Sad to hear
I've seen all the episodes of Family Affair and when I was a kid I never realized how good looking Brian was. ❤❤😮
I remember Brian Keith in one particular episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, he was in an iron lung, having polio. The scene shown on this video of Robert Keith was an episode of TZ, the masks
So sad,RIP Mr. Keith.
A very good actor !such a sad ending 😢
7:30 They have a picture of John Whitaker the English equestrian, which I am sure is not the picture that should be there.
You left out that he was in a series called Hardcastle and McCormick as a retired judge.
You did not mention HARDCASTLE & McCORMICK TV series that was on for three years.
I loved Hardcastle and McCormick, he was a great actor. R.I.P.
I have been rewatching Family Affair.
I still love The Parent Trap.
It's a shame he passed the way he did. And Anissa Jones too.
May they both rest in peace.
"Mountain Men"
He was one of my childhood favorites.
In a way, I'm glad he was able to go out on his own terms.
Sometimes it's the "humane" option.
Loved him as Uncle Bill on Family Affair.
One of our favorites too, you've got fine taste! What other types of video would you like to see?
Loved him! I was sad to hear he killed himself, the treatments he was going to have to go through would have been tough in those days! I now understand why he did it! I hope he rests peacefully with his daughter!
I have always loved his movie WITH SIX YOU GET EGG ROOLS. Watched it several times.
Us too! Thank you so much for the trip down memory lane! What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?

I always wondered what happened with him.......sad & way tragic !
One plot twist I love regarding is that Mitch Evers (The Parent Trap) is the son of Lieutenant Brannigan (Guys And Dolls)
Fun stuff, thanks for sharing! What other types of video would you like to see?
I saw him in Crown books in Malibu about 6 months before he died he looked sick his eyes were dark and sunken in. I always liked his roles the way he played them.
Interesting, thank you so much for sharing this info about Brian! What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
This is my first viewing of your channel but how about bios of character actors that were in a lot of 50s,60s and 70s tv shows who people have seen but don't know anything about? I can think of quite a few if you want a list.
I ❤ Family Affair. One of my favorite TV shows as a child ♥️
He was very much like the character he played on Family affair. He heard Anissa Jones (Buffy)was having trouble so he called her up and told her he'd give a major part in his tv show. It was hers for the taking. He wanted to help her out and keep an eye on her. She turned it down and was dead not too long afterwards from a drug overdose.
Fave roles were in Parent Trap and With Six You Get Eggroll. He had great chemistry with both Maureen O'Hara and Doris Day!
So he really believed that outside of the human body, there was a spirit- if he thought he was going to be with his daughter. I wonder if there is an afterlife?
Love him parent trap and family affair
I am literally shocked to find out that Brian Keith committed suicided. I guess I never thought he would be the type to do that. I was sorry to hear of his tragic life and death facts.
I remember him on family affair and when he did little people, brian keith show
I always liked”Hardcastle & McCormick” where Brian Keith played a tough California criminal court judge.
Maureen O'Hara stated in an interview not long after Keith died that she believed he did not commit suicide. She stated that he had a large gun collection and enjoyed cleaning them and showing them to people. She believed he might have been cleaning the gun or looking at it when it went off, and that his death was an accident and definitely not a suicide. She had just visited him and said he was in good spirits. She also stated that he would not have committed suicide given his Catholic beliefs.
IDK. If he were a gun person, he likely knew that one should always treat a gun as if it were loaded.
Did not know about Brian Keith's last year's..I watched family affair all the time..I am 68 and always remember Brian with love
Brian Keith's father also committed suicide and before he was married to Brian's mother, his father either dated or was married to Peg Entwhistle, who Jumped off the HOLLYWOOD sign. The day after her suicide, she landed an acting roll, in an upcoming movie.
His TV daughter, Anissa Jones (Buffy) over dosed at 18.
MGBY Brian Keith. Hope you are truly in paradise with your daughter ❤️
What's your favorite memory of him, Chris?

Brian Keith was a great actor and always came off as a very likeable person on screen. He was a devout Catholic and also starred in many episodes of the show religious show “Insight” in the 1960’s produced by Father Ellwood Kieser. Paulist Productions has posted them on RUclips for those who are interested.
It’s sad that his life ended the way it did. Same with Michael Landon. I’m sure Brian Keith prayed every day for God to perform a miracle and heal him. Rest In Peace Brian. Thanks for all the happy memories.

I am watching all reruns of Family Affair ..I love it ...very sad to hear horrific news as a Christian believer 🙏I know you need a strong relationship with Jesus to receive eternal life ......which makes it more tragic ...good chance he and Daisy not with the Lord but tormented in hell ....just breaks my heart 😥
He was great as Buckshot Roberts in Young Guns.
My 2 favorite roles he did were Nevada Smith and Hardcastle and McCormick
Kathy Garver is the only Family Affair cast member still living, I believe.
I'm not sure what happened to Johnnie Whittaker.
Sebastian Cabot died a few years after Family Affair ended.
Brian Keith and Anissa Jones (from a drug overdose) comitted suicide.
You know Brian Kieth looked a lot like John Wayne
I would like to see a Facts Verse video on Frank DeVol. I love the theme songs he wrote & his acting.

You forgot hardcastle McCormick
He was one of the stars in Hardcastle McCormick I think you Lashell
I feel like he is my uncle, he, in a way, is the world uncle, he sort of signed a deal with the devil when he took that role and engrossed himself in it
Underrated actor. Maybe on par with John Wayne.
I loved his chatacter!
You forgot about 'Hardcastle and McCormick'.
he decided to put a end to his suffering,he came first
He must have been a good person and love kids adopting three more kids besides having his own. He is one of my favorite actors in Hollywood. He was such a talented person fluent in Russian language his acting talent comes naturally that's what makes him an amazing actor. a former Marine. To me he is such an accomplished actor. Unfortunately he did not have the reptilian determination to survive. May he rest in peace.
@5:34 who died in 1977?
Was not on Star Trek DS9? He played a farmer on a moon of Bajore.
Very sad that he committed suicide. Was a very good actor. Believe his last acting role was as President William McKinley in the television film Rough Riders.
