The thing I remember most about Irene Ryan is the zest with which she played Granny. I've seen her on Password from 1966, and it's amazing. I mean, here's this very intelligent woman who played this caustic little spitfire. She just threw herself into a role that was way out there.
Robert Osbourne appeared on the premiere episode of The BH?! I never knew that. Love Nancy Kulp. So talented, naturally funny, and kind. I heard she was a great animal lover and nicely scolded a man on a Los Angles sidewalk for buckling his dog’s collar too tight and yanking at it. She told him to not be so rough with his dog. Right on, Nancy!
Nancy Jane Kulp (28 de agosto de 1921 - 3 de febrero de 1991) fue una actriz estadounidense, conocida principalmente por su trabajo como Miss Jane Hathaway en la popular serie televisiva The Beverly Hillbillies.
Having read the comments about Miss Kulp's' speech , she was very good in sounding Transatlantic, southern and country in her acting . A handsome willowy woman .
I loved her, she was funny but only because she was the straight character in an insane world. Jane Hathaway and Mr Drysdale added that extra element that made the show a classic. PS I am 70 now so I saw the whole shebang from new.
Very talented actress. Great on Beverly HIllbillies. But! Hope she didn't talk politics with Brian Keith! LOL, Nancy was a staunch liberal democrat and word is she and Buddy Ebsen, a staunch conservative republican, used to get into some pretty heated arguments over politics. She even ran for congress in the 1980's. And Buddy did an add for her republican opponent! That caused a very big estrangement between them. But I did read that they made their peace before she passed, which I hope was true. Brian Keith was also a republican, so hopefully they stayed off politics!
The congressional district Miss Kulp ran in was a long time republican district and remained that way for many years after . The conversation seemed to move focus more on the then recently departed Irene Ryan before Miss Kulp got it back on what she was there to promote . I read somewhere that Miss Kulp had tried to talk Miss Ryan out of doing the Broadway musical at her advanced age .
Wonderful interview ,Beautiful Memories and stories🥰
Love Nancy Kulp! Gracious lady.

Very cool, thanks for posting this. Mrs. Hathaway never sounded better.
I love her voice 😊😍👍🏻
Classy lady! My favorite trivia regarding the Beverly Hillbillies is, the Robert Osborne guest appearance in the series premiere.

Nancy was the only reason I watched the Beverly Hillbillies.

That whole show ensemble was hilarious

or mid-Atlantic.
Rip Nancy Kulp
For the longest time I thought she was British.
?????
@@ngc-fo5te - She has a British look about her and she had an affected voice on the Hillbillies that sounded a bit British.
Me to. ❤
why would you think that???
So did I. She played a British hotel maid on I Love Lucy. But even so, she has a British look about her

Ok … now I know that her B H voice was not real, lol. 🤣
i like the way she talks.
