Building A Tree House Alone - EP9 - Making Something Out Of Nothing, Oak Porch Posts & First Windows

- In this series I am building an off grid treehouse cabin in a beautiful forest. I build in a sustainable and ecological way in the wilderness and nature. This is episode 9 of The Treehouse Experiment documentary on my channel Building in Nature. The treehouse is built in a big oak tree in a forest in The Netherlands. In this episode the support posts for the porch are made from oak logs. The first windows are installed and custom window sills are made from an old door frame. When the rain and storm is gone, as always, the forest look great!
I’m Ruud. I design and make things.
I hope you enjoy the building process. Have a nice day!

This treehouse is a great example of fine carpentry and love of nature. It is a delight to watch
Thanks for the kind words! Nice to hear you like watching it. I like building and making the episodes! :)
awesome! I would pick option b for the cladding.
Thanks! I'm still sleeping on it :)
Great episode! Thank you. Given what I've seen from this series, the natural tones and the tung oil, I will guess that you will choose option B -- but I do not believe there are any wrong choices! Thank you again. 👋
Thanks for the comment! No wrong choices...I like that! :)
It will be a sad day when this series finally ends
I think it may just be another 6 or less episodes. Unless he ends up slowing down on what happens per episode.
Another great update! Thanks for sharing your journey with us! Your videos are so relaxing and your workmanship and imagination is incredible to watch. Keep it up and looking forward to the next one :)
Thanks! :) Have a nice weekend!
This is such a cool series. Your woodworking skills are excellent. Awesome job!
Thanks for the kind words! 🌳
Great content! You are a true craftsman
Thanks!
Awesome works
Thanks!
amazing as always! not sure of your building codes, but normally there are jack studs and cripple studs as well as a double header used when constructing rough window openings. This will help carry the weight of the roof above and prevent sagging and warping over time. Just thought I would mention that.
Thank you for your comment and sharing your thoughts! The wall is now half finished, in the next episode it will be finished and I think some of your questions will be answered. I am building sometimes a bit backwards (compared to a conventional build), because my first priority was to get the roof up. Some reinforcements are added later. This wall is also not load bearing. The main weight of the roof is transferred to the front and back wall.
merci pour cette vidéo.🤗 c'est vraiment du beau travail.Pour la teinte je vote pour la lettre B😉
Merci encore ! :) Bon week-end
Great❤
Go Team B!!
Option B 👍
now you have your own additional workshop under the house haha
Very cool you have watched all the episodes :) Yes, it is great place for an outdoor workshop
@@BuildingInNature Yes, and i'm excited to see the next video
I choose option B, I think is cuter
been waiting for the nxt upload 😩
The next upload will be there in a couple of days!
The birds though 😮 so good
1 great video
Thanks!
Option “b” is a very good choice, however a darker cladding has added benefits. Basically, a darker cladding will make it easier to warm up quicker from solar energy. I feel it depends on what the ultimate use for the Treehouse is and the temperature preferences of the owner.
Thanks for the comment! You make a good point that I didn't think of, the dark cladding will warm up easier by the sun, so it will dry out quicker after rain. I don't think that in my situation in the forest the inside temperature will be influenced much, also because of the insulation that I'm planning to install and how the cladding will be attached. In a future episode it will become clear what i mean :) good to consider.
You’re doing such a wonderful job on your treehouse, it is so well designed.
Thanks! :)
i can't wait for your next video. it's really fun watching it.
Thanks, that is great to hear! 🌳🌳
been a while... welcome back. love watching this type of content.
Estou curtindo muito assistir seus vídeos!!!!! Mas o interior da casa é o que eu estou mais ansioso. Perfeito!! 👏👏👏👏
Obrigado! Sim, também estou ansioso para começar o interior :)

Edit: I like Option B for the exterior finishing personally.

New episodes will be coming!
This is an perfect example where design, quality and craftsmanship come together!
Thanks for all the kind words! I appreciate it.
add a rooftop balcony🙏
That would be awesome! Or a crows nest higher up in the tree :)
Will you be making the windows able to open?
These 3 windows not, but some other windows that I will install will be able to open.
i vote for b
Definitely B. Just a question are you an engineer. I assume you are with how methodical you are.
You are correct 👍 :)
A
I'm still sleeping on it :)
After this plant 10k plants
B...
My friend. I'm like you too. I build a house alone and ride a bike.
Cool! :) I wish you all the best with your build!
The first thing you need to learn is how to repel bugs if you want to live in a tree house.
Yes definitely, this will be in a future episode. I underestimated it a bit and am dealing with it already. Woodworms are also something to deal with in my situation. So I am taking preventive action. The challenge is to do this in an environmental friendly way. I think I am figuring it out. Part of the challenge :)
This is such a cool series. Your woodworking skills are excellent. Awesome job!
