@@anielybntserpa I had two interviews that day, one for a Sephora at Khol's and another for a JCPenney Beauty. I'm not gonna lie, I bombed that Sephora interview. They asked questions about how often I shopped there, what my makeup/skincare/haircare routines are, what name brand products were my favorite, and even asked if I went to Ulta more than Sephora. I didn't want to look like a poor person that uses drugstore makeup (which I am LOL) so I was stuttering and just listing off names and none of it was convincing. But, I reflected on everything I got wrong with the Sephora interview and felt pretty confident going into my JCPenney Beauty interview. And I crushed it!! JCP asked more traditional job interview questions (describe yourself, tell me about a time when, how would you handle this, etc), and I still rambled a bit more than I would have liked, but by the end of the interview, I was offered the job on the spot! Sephora Khol's sent me a rejection email the next day, but I am fine with that. In all honesty, I showed up 20 mins early, and the manager was still 20 mins late. Managers being that late for an interview is a red flag anyway.
Don't get me though, this video and the others he has on this topic were still a great resource!! I was nervous going into these interviews cause I haven't had to interview for a job since 2020. I was rusty. My biggest mistake was trying to cram, honestly. These videos were still a really good refresher to get me in that interview mindset, you know?
Totally butchered my interview, I rambled too much, and I couldn’t really think of a significant memory where I was confronted by a difficult guest and how I handled it….. I made sure to milk my background in cosmetology and makeup though. I hope they don’t make their decision solely upon what I was asked😭😭

They then asked my availability and asked me to come in for an in-person interview.

What chance to get a job in Sephora as Operations Associate if your English is not perfect, but you have 6 years of experience in a beauty store in another country?
Talk about times at school or in your personal life you had to do something similar. For example: "How well you do work in groups?" You can talk about the time you collaborated on a group project. And if you were able to cooperate with a difficult person and come to a compromise, that's something you would talk about, too. Getting a question like, "How would you handle a difficult customer?" When you haven't had any previous experience with that might be a bit harder to answer. If I were you I would say something along the lines of: "I would listen to the customer's needs and try to find the root of the issue. Are they upset about a price being wrong, or are they really upset that the shelves are disorganized and confusing every time they come here? Whatever the root issue is, assure the customer that it will be solved and handled immediately, fix the price error as much as you are allowed, and if needed, find a manager to adjust price, or to have the manager talk with the customer, if they are still not satisfied." I used a price error as an example for why a customer was being difficult, but if there was ever a time you had an issue as a store and it was solved in a really professional way, I would draw from that experience and mention how you would strive to emulate that.
Omg I'm scared now. I have interview anxiety regardless if its in person over the phone or video chat. I'm currently looking for a job, been looking for a long while but haven't had any success. My first job was retail but I honestly hated it. I said never again will i do retail. Plus I'm shy. Alot of jobs deny me even jobs i feel like I'm qualified for which makes no sense to me I'm thinking about applying to Sephora but im so nervous. Can you still work there even if you don't know about makeup. I honestly don't wear makeup either Whats the dress code i do know they wear uniform Are interviews one on one or in groups. I hate group interviews. Honestly i hate interviews in general. I had one group interview once I really don't wanna wanna do retail again but at this point i feel like i need to take what i can get
I'm applying for an operations position, and have an interview tomorrow. Though I wear some makeup, I've never shopped there and am not super familiar with the big brands. My position at my current job is also an operations position and I'm good at it, but will my enthusiasm about makeup really make or break?
