- No need to pay for those expensive Atherton Tablelands Day Tours, pick the Self-drive option instead! It is so easy and so much fun. Take a long or as little time as you need and stop off at all the destinations that you want to see.
We stopped off at Lake Barrine, Lake Eacham, drove through Yungaburra, stopped at the Curtain fig tree, drove through Atherton and stopped off at Kuranda.

Where was your favourite place we visited on this little road trip?
I miss Atherton, brings back good childhood memories.
Great views!
It really was stunning!
I like doing the self drive option too! I always feel like I need more time too. And agree best to get started early.
Two Traveling Texans We just not a massive fan of crowds, and being pushed around by a tour guide isn’t our style. And definitely cheaper this way and you can tailor the stops to you too! Have fun!!
it does look like the tree from avatar!
Nick Boris I honestly couldn’t remember what it looked like I the film! It’s a pretty huge tree though!
wow the water's so clear! love how you can see the roots!
LIVE TRAVEL ASIA I know we weren’t expecting it, especially the blue colour. When we walked around the corner to see this super blue water we were blown away to be honest! It looked this it had been dyed it was that blue!
That fig tree is so huge! That was really amazing.
This Road Trip Life it really was huge, it was very interesting to look at as far as trees go ☺️
Nicole Lauren Blake I really like trees so it was cool for me
Wow really beautiful place and breathtaking views
It really was super pretty!
I love that place, saw a platypus there!
We wanted to go to the platypus viewing platform but I think we drove passed it and missed it!! I really want to see one and I haven't yet!
very cool place :)
It certainly was - we had a lot of fun driving around!
Stunning! What an amazing place to go spend the day! I would love to fly the drone over that!
Ben Freely I literally said that while we were there! A drone is definitely something I need. They’re all way too expensive here in Oz though so we’re just gunna have to wait 😭
That looks so beautiful! Xx
Raising Rainbows we couldn’t believe how blue the water was!
whats the name of that tree at 5:00 ? I saw them in Mauritius as well
It's a curtain fig tree :)
its very interesting. its branches act like roots.
I live in Atherton and there is a McDonald's and a KFC maybe you took the wrong turns and if you ever come back up to the tabalands you must try the Emerald creek ice-creamery it's amazing
Shame you couldn't find the Macca's or KFC they definitely do have that in atherton, as I've lived there before
