Well I would’ve taken an alternative timeline route where the USSR reforms in 1992 and doesn’t actually help out North Korea. As the USSR is being neutral from the Korean War themselves. Only China is aiding them in the interest of maintaining a buffer state from the western backed east Asia. Also maybe China wants an expansion of territory. Maybe pro CCP Taiwanese groups protest and pushes Taiwan to reunify with mainland China. And China decides to replace the Mao portrait of Tiananmen Square with Sun Yat Sen convinces the Taiwan Chinese to end their isolationist policy once and for all and decides to retake the 🇹🇼 Republic of China flag as a sign of respect. And Taiwan gains autonomy from Beijing and can govern itself. But under Beijings supervision. And aid them in their economic standards of living. Taiwan is reunited with China. The cross strait tensions has ended and one North Korea leader decide to reform the economy. Maybe with the blueprints left off by North Korean leader Kim Il Sung in creating special economic zones similar to Deng from China. And if anything, he could’ve advocated peace with South Korea and allow reforms to happen. And this creates some instability within North Korea. And South Korea hears the news of North Korea. And of course there’s tensions in the DMZ and this sparks the second Korean War by 1999. The North Koreans in this timeline isn’t weakened by a famine. But instead food aid only lessen the starvation within North Korea. And of course the buying of Soviet weapons and missiles furtherly militarizes North Korea to being the most invasive.

Even without the Korean microchip thing, the US military wouldn't be in very good shape after an EMP attack on the homeland. Much of it would be too preoccupied dealing with the chaos among the populous caused by the electrical grid going out to coordinate an effective defense. Their supply lines would also been in tatters. While their equipment might still work, the civilian workforce isn't going to factories to produce war material. Once their stocks of fuel and ammo are used up they'll have nothing left to maintain a regular army with.

Honestly they could’ve done this so many different ways.
They still could’ve done the Soviet Union, either in an alternate 80s or a timeline where it didn’t fall. Like seriously a Red Dawn video game could’ve worked.
If they couldn’t do China, they could’ve done the Japanese Empire. Have an alternative history where the empire wins/survives WW2 or the US stays neutral. They could’ve also had the Nazis invade too because why not? Like The Man In The High Castle except we actually get to experience the invasions. Not the most realistic but at least it’s better than the North Koreans.

Absolutely loved the analysis in this video. As someone who majored in political science and reads about Korean geopolitics, Homefront is definitely interesting to analyze. As a result, I would like to saw some things (apologize in advance for the length):
The timeline of Homefront is extremely flawed and implausible. With that said, it’s scenario is definitely more plausible than the one in the Red Dawn remake since the DPRK in that movie has not unified with the south and is not a superpower, yet still manages to invade the USA with just Russian assistance. Also, I found the alternate timeline in Homefront: The Revolution even weirder since that one has the USA losing the Space Race, Kim il-Sung resigning in the 70s, the Digital Revolution starting in the DPRK instead of the USA, the USSR not collapsing, a Korean Steve Jobs taking over the DPRK, and John McCain winning the 2008 Presidential Election, and an expanded War on Terror.
You kind of addressed this in the video, but I would like to note that the developers official reason on why China was not used and isn’t doing about a growing DPRK next door is because they weren’t as “scary” since their economy is so linked to the USA (a newspaper in the game mentions how China is economically suffering due to the downfall of the American economy and is focusing on domestic issues). Of course I suspect that was a cover for the real reason being they didn’t want to alienate the Chinese market. Anyway, I have heard people use the Great Depression and League of Nations’ inability to deal with Nazi Germany to explain why the UN and other nations aren’t dealing with a rising DPRK.
Additionally it’s mentioned that people in the ROK welcomed Kim Jong-un is because he reversed many of his father’s repressive measures and implemented new reforms. Also, it’s mentioned economic problems led to increased anti-American sentiment in the south.
Speaking of Kim Jong-un, a slim actor initially played him in the first trailer because the only photos available of him at the time were when he was a young teenager. The developers changed actors in the second trailer and the game itself after contemporary photos of him came out.
Definitely found it interesting that people believe the developers were using the ROK’s historical rapid rise to explain how the DPRK’s in the game. Like you said, the ROK used to be a poor nation under corrupt authoritarian leadership that was only being kept alive by foreign aid. This changed when Park Chung-hee, a reformist authoritarian like Kim Jong-un in Homefront, took over the country and initiated new reforms that paved the way for the ROK becoming a first world nation within 30 years.
Really loved the scenario you presented for a more realistic Homefront. Definitely agree having Homefront take place in Korea definitely increases the game’s plausibility significantly. Also found it clever to have the game take place in the states as well in order to preserve the American patriotism/defending American soil from invaders theme.
Once again, sorry for the length of my response. By the way, I would love to see you review the timelines/scenarios of both Red Dawn films. I think they would make for a great video.

Since the reunification of Korea, Kim Jong-il has resigned and been expelled from his country, and sent into exile in Turkmenistan as North Korean cities become modern urbanization cities in Korea and no more nuclear weapons. Since a Mexican managed to save the United States, perhaps it is a small territory like New Europe, I was able to change the time line and the rest of the world returned to normal, and not end since World War III

My approach would have been to dump North Korea entirely, and instead create a timeline where it's the BRITISH who are invading America. Have Britain go fascist, somehow gain economic dominion over Europe and the Commonwealth, then do the EMP thing to disable America's nuclear weapons or something. That way, you can go all in on the Revolutionary War parallels and avoid any semblance of racism (as the invaders would be largely white people who all speak English). The game might not sell well in the UK, but that's nowhere near as much of a potential sales loss as China banning the game. Depending on how the British are portrayed, you could even get Britons buying the game to see themselves as cool bad guys. There should also be a sympathetic British character who wants to see Britain itself liberated.
Also, did I hear music from Star Trek Online in the background? If so, good choice.

While also implausible, it definitely sounds more plausible and awesome than the DPRK invading. I can imagine the scenario would begin with economic downturn and an out of control migrant crisis, resulting in far-right ultranationalists taking control of Britain and withdrawing from the EU (this game came out before Brexit). They would then collaborate with Russia and other far-right groups in other countries, most notably those remaining in the EU, to ensure they cooperate with their interests.

Great video on the video game FPS called Homefront and it’s reboot Homefront: The Revolution of having China as the bad guys but we have North Korea including the 2012 movie remake Red Dawn of them being the bad guys. It makes no sense to me on how they magically get to the United States and then occupy it for same reasons. Hey The Alternate Historian, can you please review Amerika (miniseries) which is a mini series show from the 1987, the story goes on from ten years after a bloodless Soviet Union takeover of the United States with a EMP, a political dissident's release from prison roils his estranged family, his childhood friend, occupation forces and a newly formed underground movement seeking to oust the invaders with our own national symbols being banned and an corrupt United Nations peacekeeping force, the United Nations Special Service Unit (UNSSU) to named a few with the whole world being screwed over by communist occupation. I absolutely hate the United Nations who are very much corrupt and lazy who should just do their job but instead they don’t do anything to stop all the genocides, wars and other things in the world today; if America was invaded by a foreign country that I would be attacking and killing every single occupational military force from their own leaders and traitorous collaborators who have helped them out including commencing acts of terror against them, if they were to kill my family and friends I wouldn’t show any mercy towards them but I would rather make some exceptions. As if I was to cost them all to fear me, there are some who would respect me. if they were to kill me: not only would I have become the symbol of the revolution form freedom, liberty and last but not least hope for the American people who are treated as second class citizens but I would become a martyr for the Second American Revolution.

How? Just from population alone, the US has over a third of a billion people, North Korea has about 25 million. The US outnumbers North Korea on a population basis nearly 20:1. There are u.s. states with bigger populations. The US has about a million and a half military personnel. If North Korea wants to match the US soldier for Soldier they would need to draft nearly 7% of their population ( which admittedly terrifyingly enough they nearly already do apparently). That's not even counting any of America's allies. Don't you think South Korea would have some issues with this?
    Edit
Okay watch the first part. Even if the US military spending was about halved, we still have one of the biggest militaries in the world. And even if this super Korea had a military of 25 million , and an estimated population of 1/3 a half a billion people, that would make up something along the lines somewhere between 7 and nearly 12% of the population in uniform. And once again, where is America's allies? Yes in this one they have a plague bouncing around, but plagues don't respect borders. Yes they have a lot of economic issues to isolate them even further but are you telling me that Mexico would rather have North Korea as a northern border than America? What about the Caribbean Nations whose waters are now poisoned because North Korea just nuked a major Waterway?
Another thought. Even if the North Koreans managed to drop an e m pulse that would get the entirety of America, that would Splash over into Canada and Mexico. And I don't think those nations would take that lying down. While Canada and Mexico would probably be hit almost as hard as the u.s. is, that still extra troops and analyzed for the US

The "Korean annexation continues to spread" bit isn't just from trailers, it's in the game's intro.
Korea actually did have a provisional government after WW2 that was later subverted in the north and suppressed in the south.

True. I misspoke. Some media associated with Homefront treat the Southeast Asian nations joining up with the GKR led Pan-Asian Alliance. But the trailers and intro call it an annexation.

if the creator is this rather right wing individual, i wouldn't be surprised that in regards to storyboard predictions to what happens in this alternate reality is eerily similar to real life. is cause i know i've read a lot of right wing authors who have been talking about a lot of these predictions that did end up happening; plus the media was running salacious stories on potential doomsday scenarios. cause if it bleeds it leads, even though the reporters and news media didn't actually take the subjects seriously; it was strictly financial reasons to even write up the stories in the first place. plus in regards to emp risks, i did hear that after the grid goes out and try to rebuild, that the mortality rate of the US population before the grid being restored would be almost 90 percent. which seems extreme, but the amount of people who would die would be drastic once the power is out. for one the first ones to go are the immune compromise, the elderly, and especially diabetics insulin dependent; or anyone who is medication dependent that require cool storage.
