Bought one last Thursday and immediately took it on a 2500 mile trip. Ride is indeed "magic carpet" in Road mode and I backed it in on the Tail of the Dragon today in Dynamic. An amazing bike...if you're looking for a do-it-all touring bike, this is tough to beat.

Having just purchased an ex demo BMW GS 1250 rallye adventure and have to wait a few weeks before its released from the fleet I thought i would check out some reviews.. turns out i bought this very bike!!!! thanks for riding it so gently :-)
This is my first ever bike which I ever owned, I used to ride my grandfather's old soviet era (250cc) bike when I was kid, man I really missed that feeling, the dealer was really sceptical that I choose to buy this monster as a first bike but finally I got it. 4000 miles already done ^_^

Your review and others convince me still. I am 6' 7" 71 years and just starting to ride. Picked up a used BMW G310 GS to learn shifting and such as my scooters are just twist-and -go. I've ordered the 40th year anniversary 2022 BMW R1250 GSA from a dealer here in Illinois near Chicago. What have I done! Will store it in my garage and get to it when I get better at the lighter 2 wheels but so looking forward to a truly great engineering product! Thanks!
Hey mate, glad my review helped and congratulations on ordering a truly epic machine. 40th Edition...wow, awesome. You will truly love that machine friend. Enjoy mate. Cheers 🍻
Yes, this thing is huge… once you get use to the smaller bikes, you will be glad you have a larger bike. The small bikes, I would never get on the highway with. This ralley is ok for highway use.
I'm 67 and just went to the BMW Performance Center in SC to train on one of these. Well worth the money but be sure to get good off road boots and gear because you will drop their bike. That's kind of the point, to stretch your limits. I'd recommend the road vs the off road to start. I had 30 years of rust and it was great
Thank you my friend, pleased you enjoyed it. Got a new video live at 10am tomorrow morning. Quite far from the GS but I reckon you'll enjoy it. Cheers 🍻
Hi, Just watched the R1250gsa review, very good and thank you. I should be picking mine up in a couple of weeks all going well. You mentioned the phone connectivity to give navigation, music and phone. Have you done a video on how to connect this, with headset/earplugs? Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Hi Graham and thank you, appreciated. Also congratulations on the new beauty, you must be excited. Such a great bike. I have connected my Android phone to a GS at the dealer also to my old XR. Works great and turn by turn nav is really good. I haven't tried via a headset though so can't comment on that. Not done a video on it but that's a good idea actually. 👍 cheers 🍻
Great real world review. And you’re a really considerate rider. I currently ride a V-Strom 1050XT and keep thinking about a GS as the telelever suspension & shift cam engine are so good, and I hear such good things about the BMW service. Maybe I should get myself an extended test ride to see how it compares?
Hey David, thank you for the positive feedback. Yeah the big V-Strom is a superb machine. 👌 Sure, if you like the idea of a GS I would definitely recommend having an extended ride. Truly one of the hardest bikes to fault as it does it all so well. And if you want to have some real fun select Dynamic Pro, set all settings to their sportiest and she might just surprise you with how fast she is and the handling. But one button press and you are in Limo comfort with heated seats, Nav and music playing. 😁 If you are local to Sussex then I can introduce you to Ben at Chandlers BMW, they are an award winning Destination Dealer and the customer experience and service is second to none imo. I bought my S1000XR there just under 2 years ago. Cheers 🍻

Thank you mate. Tough one that. GS gives you more options of riding style, terrain potentially and wins on overall comfort. But the XR has the sporty edge, so if you will do track days in the future the XR would be more fun for that but isn't as comfortable as the GS. Both bikes are excellent in their own right. Engine wise the GS has low end torque going for it and the XR has the high end rush of a 4 pot. Lol, not an easy decision right. Hope that helps. Cheers 🍻

I’ll be looking at the new 1300GSA (obviously when it comes out (Oct 24)) but will wait until I’m sure it has any teething issues, if any, sorted. Yes, a good and honest review on a very capable bike that is an option if you can afford it. But there are expensive options on the market and not seeing the subject by the wallets size of their owners, In my opinion it’s a fair deal from my personal experience . Are there in the present Market brands the offer bikes of the same category and purpose with more ads or rider aids like more gadgets electronic gadgets? Yes in the present moment there are, not for long but, on the present moment the answer is affirmative. Would I still choose in the present moment a BMW bike on those conditions? Yes, because I’m starting to dislike some of the recent evolutions on safety features that one of this days will turn all of us dependent, and to a point that without them we will not feel able to ride a bike. That’s evolution. And not everything is marvelous about it. Today it still is a little challenging to ride a bike safely because it depends a lot on the rider decisions and skills, but in a few years I think that your ability to ride a bike will depend more of the bike you ride, not on the biker. And for me that’s only a bit sad, as a principle. Maybe I’m wrong but the risk is something that takes part on the pleasure of riding. The rush, the adrenaline, is because of the risk that we bikers know that we take when we go up on our bikes. So we ride alert and very focused on everything because it’s a risky activity. What about when that is vanished ? Will we feel (still) right? I can’t answer that, but I put the question. Thanks for the video. It was pleasing to watch ✌️✌️
I would love a GS 1250 for The videos I make and to do long distance rides and tours, one day hopefully very good video very in-depth and worth the watch I’ll drop you a subscription 👍

Thank you so much for watching and for your thoughts. Much appreciated and I'm pleased that you enjoyed it. Cheers 🍻
I would love a GS 1250 for The videos I make and to do long distance rides and tours, one day hopefully very good video very in-depth and worth the watch I’ll drop you a subscription 👍
Thank you mate, ah me too. I will hope to get a GS one day. Would be perfect for those longer rides as you say. Cheers 🍻
As much exceptional this bike is, it looks like those buff guys who skips their leg days....
Hahaha, I see what you mean. Yeah it's all chest and shoulders, no squats haha. Cheers 🍻
So true! Hilarious 😂
These bikes are too clinical. I tried one and did not like it at all. No sound from the engine either. No soul.
Totally agree that the BMWs can be a bit clinical. I found this while owning the XR. But you most definitely can hear the engine. And with an exhaust upgrade they sound great without being too loud. Cheers 🍻
