As someone whose childhood led them to develop DID, C-PTSD, and maladaptive daydreaming as an unhealthy coping mechanism, this song really resonated. The part about feeling like a part of an exhibit or collection, feeling completely dehumanized…it connects so much with how I was made to feel growing up. I was always told “smile, people are watching, you have to make a good impression,” while being made to hold the hand of the monster who had everyone else fooled. I felt hollow, like a useless but eye-catching accessory put out on display.
When it got unbearable, I would find myself drifting off into imaginary worlds of make-believe and beauty, a place where I could finally be in control. Thanks to the constant dissociation and blackout episodes, this person still kept a small portion of my trust, and I believed for so long that things were okay, that he would never do anything to *really* hurt me. It’s taken years of recovery to get to the place I am today and I still have a long way to go. But I want to say thank you Banshee, for making music that makes the invisible feel seen and the silenced feel heard. Your music is magic. ❤

Had been talking to and seeing that guy for months. I confessed to him that I had never fallen in love because I was afraid of getting hurt. I ended up trusting him and falling in love. We slept together and he started becoming distant and ignoring me. I guess he got what he wanted.
