- Attorney Stephanie Murphy took the stand on Wednesday morning where she talked about being the attorney for murdered victim Doug Benefield. Murphy recalled sending a letter to Ashley Benefield on Doug's behalf when Ashley was pregnant, regarding Doug being present for the birth of their child. Later it was revealed that Ashley had given birth to the child without notifying Doug.

In September 2020, Ashley Benefield ran to a neighbor's house in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, and stated she had just shot her husband. Douglas Benefield had several gunshot wounds to his leg, arm, and chest area. Ashley Benefield claims she shot him in self-defense after months of alleged abuse. She was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Ashley Benefield made bail and has been living with family and her daughter since the crime.

Yes, the grifter she is, she should have just had a one night stand with a rich young guy who wanted no personal ties but who would pay child care but she is clearly unhinged and had a child for all the wrong reasons.
I keep saying they need to get a DNA done on the child. I mean, she paid for him to undo his vasectomy, then she was pregnant within 3 months. Now, the child was born early, and she is determined for him not to see the child. His other daughter should ask for DNA to see if it's her half-sister, and if the DNA doesn't match, that's more to prove why she was wanting to get away from him but wanted his money for the child.
Doesn't matter. Because they were married it is his child by default. Why do think so many men wind up paying child support for children that are not biologically theirs. It's unfair, but it been held up in the courts for years.
@bobbyd6680 I'm referring to she may have wanted a child to get his money, so when he pressed to see the child, if it wasn't his, he may of could of told by resemblance in the later months or have found out another way. Now, the child is getting money from his past years of what he accumulated. So if they got a divorce and then found out it wasn't his, he could have demanded a DNA, and she wouldn't be getting anything from a man of wealth.

This "ballerina's" entire aura smacks of a spoiled, selfish little psychopath. Honestly, this guy Doug was out of his mind for marrying her. I'll even go further; as a father myself, his priority was to his current daughter. I don't think he had any business marrying this woman; he should've been focused on helping and raising his 15 year old daughter (who had the tragedy of losing her mother).

@jadegermeroth8967: I think his only artillery is to object over every single question that the prosecutor asks. There are so many bad facts, in regards to Ashley, that he is only able to try to minimize what comes out in front of the jury. He has objected more than I have ever seen done in a single case. It is so frustrating to watch.

Great witness, she is very articulate & clear speaking. As a side note, her presentation is immaculate. I do really feel for Eva and hope she is doing ok & gives herself some extra kindness, this trial would be harrowing for anyone. Stay strong for your father ❤❤❤

Let's get something straight: Interjecting is the defense attorney's job. It's his job to throw her off her questioning. Also, the attorney on the stand knows what she is doing. She constantly tries to open the door and introduce information that was set in prior motions not to be introduced. You can't blame someone for defending their client.
