    Great comparison - I love these! I would say that for cash, the Trove is easier with British pounds as they are now plastic, so will slip into a tight space much easier. Focx have a completely new design on kickstarter at the moment - it looks to be an improved version of this one. I'm guessing you've pre-ordered one, so looking forward to that review, as well as the indomitable i-clip!

      Great insight Mike, you're right with the new poly notes, they would slip in easier. Regarding the new FOCX Advanced I did preorder it, but they're sending me an early preview copy for a review!

    After many, many wallets, I've chosen the Accountant. I load my vault cards from the inside of the wallet and I don't have any trouble with the pullstrap. I do wish the elastic band was thicker for the reason you stated. If I were using the Trove, I might be tempted to just lay my cash inside without tucking it into the flap...I hate fidgety stuff. I'm busy and ain't nobody got time for that! Another excellent review and comparison!

    I got both of these, I bought the purist instead of the accountant and I find the Focx more comfortable for an every day use due to the cash insertion problem of the cash wrap. Thankyou for the comparison!!

    One thing you missed is the Trove cash wrap can actually separate just the card carry portion. I didn't realize this after seeing your review, but I went to the site and found that out. This is perfect for me as in America I only carry an ID and a card or two, but when I travel to other countries I frequently use cash and have to deal with coins regularly. So in America I have a super slim elastic wallet, but I can quickly make it a wallet for travelling and it can handle tall currencies!

    • @walletopia
      @walletopia  Год назад

      That indeed it can do and didn't catch that until after the video, it's a great secondary slim down you get with this offering.

    I'd go with the Accountant because I rarely find myself with change and I like how the money has to be folded over once before putting it into the wallet. I'd like to see better materials used though.. a solid piece of leather.
    I like the Trove too, but I assume it'd be an absolute nightmare putting your money away someplace like a supermarket where you have a line behind you. 😂

      In 40 years shopping in the UK I've never felt I must hurry to put my money away. Secondly your unlikely to get many notes as change maybe a five or a ten and a handfull of coins, the third problem is folding poly notes. If you are really worried about hurrying to put cash away you need a different type of wallet.

    I haven’t put my hands on either, so not sure the following comment holds water. But some folks don’t like to show their cash on hand. Appears to me, with the Accountant, you have to completely remove the cash to select your bill(s)...whereas maybe with the Trove you can leave the bills tucked and pull out what you need. Haven’t not manipulated one, it could be you pull one, they all follow. I do like the thought of not flashing my green, but if you want minimalist, it’s a tough feature to incorporate. Loved the comparison.

    • @walletopia
      @walletopia  3 года назад +1

      Great thoughts on this and yes, with the Accountant, since cash is folded once you "could" fiddle through and pull the note you want out, but likely you'd pull them all out, choose the note you want and put it back in, thus exposing your cash. The Cash Wrap would be somewhat better, but I did find that if you try and pull a single note out it has the tendency to pull them all out, so it's a wash.

    For the trove: I never carried more than 5 cards : 2 quick access and 3 others. Easy to sort through. Polymer notes slide in and out easily. The coin pocket is usable with care but its to ensure you have a few £'GBPs or € Euros with you not to handle all your change.
    I'm not sure how standing folding notes is less hassle that poking them in to the pocket. I got the Trove a little after the Focx and regarded it as an improvement and an upgrade in quality of both materials and construction. Currently though I'm usually carrying the Znap 8 card and chucking a few quid in my pocket.

    Thank's to you Mark, I'm officially a wallet junkie ßOMB!
    As of now I just purchased the Trove cash warp wallet, I build my own unique color design and just today I received my Focx accountant in woods leather color, and men am I impressed despite that the delivery from Germany to Texas took forever though. I've also recently have the Bellroy sleem sleeve, now that's an awesome wallet too. So here is where it gets bad I also have the ekster aluminum cardholder and it's my go to wallet when I leave for work. I HOPE AM NOT IN TOO DEEP!
    FYI Anyone interested in any of these wallets I've mentioned their all excellant awesome wallet's except for the Trove I dont have it yet but am sure I'll fall in love with it too.
    Ps.
    Please someone help me!

    I think for the trove wallet, to reduce the hassle is to fold the notes once then insert into the coins partition. Isn’t that will solve the problem to insert cash in a hard way? But will need to sacrifice the coins and key sleeve for notes.

    The questio IS which has the beefier quality elastic. I have owned many elastic style wallets and theyre great but ive learned that cheap elastic will stretch out after about a year of use. Its all about the quality of the elastic. Ive had the Tom Bihn wallet for about a year and i love it but the elastic has started to loosen up and that sucks

    Also with the TROVE there is a high probability of your coins falling when you open it. Once you know it you open it with the coin pocket facing up, but it is a bit limitating in the range of motion you can do with the open wallet (wich can be convinient to slip the cash or takes some cards)

    I do own the trove cash wrap.. and yes it is a pain to tuck the cash in into the cash slot! so if i'm in a hurry i just fold my cash once and put it inside like you did in the accountant wallet 😂

    If Trove had only made the cash holder flap only sewn on 2 sides (like the accountant did), then this could have been easily, easily solved. I wonder if you could just take a seem ripper and open up the one side?

    • @walletopia
      @walletopia  3 года назад +1

      What I didn't show, which comes out in the full review of the TROVE is that the elastic can separate from the cash wrap portion. The cash capture is only sewn on one side, the bottom which acts as the backstop for cash. If they made the two pieces more permanent with the leather opening like the FOCX so you could slide it in from the side I believe it could be more function.
