FOCX Wallet R3 Purist REVIEW; are they ALL the same!?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 8 авг 2024
- The FOCX R series, the R1 Minimalist, the R2 Account and the R3 Purist. They all look the same, but there are subtle differences. As a slim, minimal type wallet the R3 is made for cash. No issues, it's a cash wrap for those who carry more cash than cards, plain and simple.
But I do bring the R1, R2 and R3 next to each other to show you how they are different!

Yay, the first video of 2023! Happy New Year, Mark, to you and all of your viewers.
I got the 'Completed' series one when that was on Kickstarter and hated it with a passion at first. Then after lockdown when I went full minimalist EDC, I got it back out and really liked it. A complete change of mind for how useful it really was. So yeh, I'm a bit of a convert for the FOCX wallet. 🙂My one complaint is the poxy D-ring and narrow elastic, that does get on my nerves as I'm always fiddling with it to get to sit right, 👍🏻 Nice to see ya back Mark. Hope you all had a great time the last few weeks.
Thanks Richard, it was nice taking off the last few weeks of the year! I agree with the fiddiliness of the d-ring and thin elastic, it requires more effort than it should to make it right.
Happy New Year! Great review as always. Interesting to see the comparison, admittedly I've lost track of the subtle differences in the Focx line-up.
Until I really dove into it, it’s really hard to know as they look all the same to me and function the same 90% across all of them.
I just got my FOCX C2 advanced last week, it takes a bit of getting used to, but i can get my cards and money out reasonably quick.
I like the small size, perfect for front pocket carry
I received my C2 yesterday from FOCX and it's an interesting design. Their products looks all very very similar.
Very slim.
Reminds me of the Singular, which I have, and like way better. Like the ability of the Singular to slip a quick access card under the flap, have the band hold it in place, and never have to undo the strap to use the card
After spending years on this channel I have seen and tried about 20+ wallets you have reviewed. You lead me to discovering Ashland Leather with the Tony the Ant and Johnny the Fox. If you get around to it pick up a Fat Herbie. It is hands down the best wallet I have pocketed yet.
I have the Fat Herbie and have it in the rotation coming up!
Until recently I didn't have a clue what the difference was between a Ridge to a Wingback Winston or a Bellroy Note Sleeve to a Crazy Horse Craft wallet! Here's to 2023 Mark and I can't wait for you to review the new Pioneer Flyfold 2.0 wallet. Happy New Year to you your family and everyone who watches and subscribes to your great video content!!
I just recorded the review for the new Flyfold 2.0, so it's on the way!
You must of read my mind Mark lol
had the R2 version, it was for me the best minimal wallet, untill I lost it lol. easily carry 6-7 cards and cash and still maintain a small footprint. Maybe I shall buy again soon
I have the Trove - I found it hard to put cash in it and any more than 4 or 5 cards overloads it. I haven't actually used it due to the difficulty trying to push cash in the slot with cards in it. I was very disappointed, to be honest. The Fox looks much better, so I'll probably try one!
It seems best to just put a nice rubber band around your cards and money andv that will allow you to save on the wallet space.
It looks good but to be honest why would you when the I-Clip is out there... ?
I got a wallet design im suddenly working on. Goofing around yesterday folding a piece of paper and ended up accidentally coming up with a wallet design. I may end up sending you one after I make a couple and try them out for a bit.
I'd love to see it!
Can you try the lemur fold wallet pls?
First 🔥🔥🔥
Can you review the kamino cash sleeve?
I have it on my list so I'll put your vote on it!
@@walletopia awesome! Love your channel
Are you missing the 50 pesos axolotl Mexican bill ??
Got mine c2 complete for half of the full price. A deal
Is that Malaysian RM50? Nice
I couldn’t spend 45 bucks on a wallet like this….When I could get a Correa Creative model 3 for 25 bucks more,And that’s a beautiful handmade wallet that will last unlike the bands on these wallets.
Correa creative model 3 is $70...
@@ajamesbestthats what he said m8
I now have the R3, and in every way, it's far superior to the Trove cash wrap. The leather is better quality, the card holding elastic section is easier to extract cards from, the pull tab functions better and the cash is easier to insert. Ok, the closing elastic binds a little, but after 1 day's use, I've developed a way to sort that out so it doesn't happen. I have 4 cards and 9 bills, and I've tried 8 cards, which were absolutely fine. You tend to favour an external, quick-access card slot and this doesn't have it, but the Trove's quick access slot is its downfall. It's much too tight and won't break in as it's quality Italian elastic. It also makes the internal cards almost impossible to extract, even with only 3 in the internal slot. The coin pouch makes the Trove bulky and uncloseable, too. So, 1-nil to Focx...this is where the Germans got it absolutely right with a well-deserved wallet-win over the Brits! Sorry Trove.
Off ?
aw was hoping this would be the hardgraft review 😭
It’s coming 😁
@@walletopia😅 love the content man always fun seeing what's new in the wallet world
The trove is way better IMO.
Personally, I agree with you.
If it is made in Deutschland then all is good 👍 cheers 🥂
Geee …so much to do beofre you finally get the money money out and then the same to get them in. Its just soooo much work and then you have to fiddle with the strap again … so for me Nero wallet all the way. I am afraid we all use less cash anyway.
Yes, just like how we count “clicks” to determine the user friendliness of software, taking too many steps to get to cash, cards or anything else you use frequently is not a win scenario.
This looks gimmicky! I imagined myself in line at the store giving the cashier money and trying to put my change back into it.. no thank you😅
Are yee sure that wasn't rabid !
Elastic strap? No thanks.
You are way too generous in your scoring. Even the worst wallet you’ve shown gets a score around 25/50. You need to re-jigger your scoring system so that the worst actual wallet gets a score around 1, and your best gets a score around 49. That way, we’d be able to see differences between the many wallets whose score are currently in the 35-39 range.
That’s the solution/problem, I don’t compare wallets to each other scoring wise as each needs to stand on its own. There are so many variations in wallets that are driven by preference that beginning to compare them creates a nightmare and ultimately nullifies it’s usefulness. That said, by comparing scores of wallet that are similar that you like, you’ll find greater correlation.
This wallet looks ridiculous. That strap is gong. To be annoying real fast. All that material and elastic and straps and nonsense. Just to hold some cards and cash. No thanks.
no man should have to fiddle with a stupid elastic strap when dealing with their wallet. looks like ur just using a rubber band with ur wallet.
The thin nature of it makes it even that much more fiddly, not my favorite.
The only reason i ‘d buy this is if it came with a 50 dollars bill!!!
😂
