I always love watching auto mechanics handle these big powerful tools and heavy parts and then they pull out a hammer and its the smallest hammer you've ever seen (i know you need to get it in small places) but it still funny, lol
Nice, clear video. With the boot facing up, water on the shaft may drip into the seal. Also if water does get into the seal, it won't be able to escape. I wonder why they designed it to go upside down.

Great videos! Although I'm getting to hate watching them because its giving me more stuff to replace on my 97 ram lol. But I'm going to you site for all parts. Great prices and videos guys. Keep it up
+Trevor Bommarito Yes, an alignment is recommended after the installation of this part. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions.
@@1AAuto why would you need to do another alignment if you're not changing anything that has to do with a geometry of the suspension as in tie rods ball joints etc etc
Are you SURE this is the right steering shaft for a 2nd gen dodge ram 1500? On 1a auto- it shows that this shaft works on the ram 2500 or 3500... Dorman 425-264 part. I have a lifted (7 inch lift) 1998 dodge ram 1500 5.2L 4x4 with the extended cab and it looks like my steering shaft is closer to 30 inches and not 20-21 inches like this steering shaft. I read online a lot of conflicting information but in summary- it looks like this smaller shaft 425-264 is only for regular cab/standard cab 2nd gen dodge 1500... I can't find any other info though. Other than a borgeson steering shaft that is 30 inches. I just want to make sure I order the right part is all.... Even look at the Q and A on the part page- somebody at 1a auto said this only works for 2500 and 3500. Can somebody please clarify? Your videos have helped me so much by the way- I thank you for this. Saved me hundreds of dollars.
www.1aauto.com/*/i/DMSTC00004?ARUclips&Adescription&Avideodesc&FebV-Ch6OvM I'm talking about this part in particular- will this work with a 1998 dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.2L Laramie Extended Cab (2 door) with a 7" lift? Thanks a million

Thank you for the video. This explains In good detail about this common truck and SUV problem.
I have the infamous loose steering wheel play. Contemplating which part I need. Steering box or shaft
Just the coupler or you could purchase the shaft with the coupler attached.
Do you need to have an alignment done after this?

Alright 1 more question, does this part work with the 2wd model? On your site it says only 4wd but it looks exactly like mine
+Trevor Bommarito That is correct that the steering shaft we carry for these model years of Ram 1500s is only for the 4WD models.

Alignment not needed!
Can the part fit on a propulsion model? ?? thx
I changed mine yesterday, went in fine. My question is will I need another alignment? I had the alignment done 3 weeks ago. Tia
No
Tried to find this part on website. Is this steering shaft available for 99 ram 1500 2wd?
What’s the part it connects to on the firewall?
Nice vid !!!
