Beautiful table , very impressed with the wood and the epoxy, I wasn’t expecting to like it so much, but I’m sure the customer will love it, I sure do👍. G
Amazing! Thank you so much. I’m about to start this hobby with hopes I can make a decent income. I’m a fabricator by trade so I look forward to working with wood and epoxy as well.
Did u rub both the side of table with sand paper ???? And can u say from which number to which number did u use in sand paper ?? Work is so good ,, looks awesome
Hi greg, when you put your table tops onto a metal frame, do you put the screws inserts into the wood only, because sometimes I see only epoxy in the corner areas and no wood near the corner, I wondered how you then attach your metal frame to the top. Thanks greg
Would you be in favour of sanding down to 2000 grit before using the Odies Oil so that both the epoxy and wood have a natural shine from the sanding alone?
Definitely not. Sanding wood to higher grid is not a good idea, then the oil will not penetrate into the wood. Odies we normally sand to 400 and stop from there, rubio we and to 180.

Came to this channel after watching Blacktail Studio videos. RUclips suggested this video. Very impressive work, interesting to see the difference in techniques. Just a question, the wax on the bottom mold surface is there a reason for that? All the best from Fiji. Hope things in South Africa turn right for everyone. God bless.
Thank you for the kind words, we also lobe blacktails videos, theres also a channel black forest that also males great content. The wax we use is to prevent the epoxy from sticking to the wood, I know in the US they like to use the tape method, we find it best to use the wax, its cheap and fast. We have about 7 tables lined up so theres alot of videos on the way. 😇
@@diywithgreg Looking forward to the videos with the 7 tables. I have a portable sawmill in Fiji and am looking to get into similar types of projects when the COVID restrictions are released. Going to build my house first from timber sourced from our clan owned land. Once I get past that then will look into other end user timber products. All the best mate.👍😎
Could you see the layers through the top or the side. I’m doing the same transparent black. I want to do one pour but ecopoxy says it’s too thick not to do it. Your table turned out great. I’m just hoping not to see a line every time I made a pour
Hi James, thanks for the kind words. So the epoxy application we are using only allows us to pour layers and not do a deep casting, so to get the same colour consistency throughout theres 2 methods. Mix your colour pigment into your main batch of “Resin” NOT YOUR HARDENER! Or you can add exactly the same amount of colour pigment into each batch you pour. Hope this helps. Thanks for the support
Hallo, i have a full document on our methods and techniques we use to build all our tables and all the information you need, and I documented everything. You can find the document here www.diywithgreg.com/shop
Does torching the live edge to make it dark cause any issues in binding between the resin and torched wood? What grit do you use to sand the torched edge? Great work new subscriber
Hi Greg. Love your work. I live in the US Pacific Northwest where it is cold and rainy for half the year. I’m planning a table like this for a covered outdoor kitchen area. In a driving rainstorm the table will get wet. What would your recommendation be for finishing such a table for use in these conditions?
Awesome video! I’m in Johannesburg. Where do you get your threaded inserts from? Can’t find them anywhere!! May I also ask what it costs to make a beautiful table like this, and what you sell it for? Many thanks.
Hi, thanks for all the support. On our latest video I left a link in the description that will take you to our website where you can download a document I wrote the last 8 months going into detail om how to build River tables like us, unfortunately there is a small fee to it because im selling my knowledge and everything i know on epoxy tables. ❤️
Hallo. There is very nice works. 👏🏻👏🏻. I want ti ask you about screws whic is you using under the top to fix base and legs together. What they call to those screw system and how can i find them on internet? So keep continue everthing is great. I am maker to. If you want to check out go to Iron Tree Concept instagram.
@Dustin...I've read through all comments that you've left, on this and other projects and surprise...all negative! It would seem that you can only make your sad life better by putting other people's hard and honest work down. Maybe spend more time critiquing the other channel you like mentioning so much? Here, Proudly South African means something. Have a good day further 🙂
Excellent work! Love the semi-transparency in the epoxy! Gives the wood and the whole table so much more dimension!
Must say, this is favorite of yours so far.
Wish we could get this wood here in the states
Beautiful table. I love your choice of wood. And using the less expensive liquid glass works out very well.
Beautiful table , very impressed with the wood and the epoxy, I wasn’t expecting to like it so much, but I’m sure the customer will love it, I sure do👍. G
I like the matte finish!!
I always watch your video. Thanks for your important information
You did this perfectly! Nothing to change
Great, work! But eish! Wear a mask when you sand, bru. Those fine particles can't be good to breathe in.
Thanks for the kind words.
I know I know, I should focus more on safety. 😇
man that looks so sick
I love these tables! I can't wait to start building these!
it looks good. i like how you did the epoxy in 2 parts the first layer then the top
I think he did like 4 layers...
Looks great. I plan to make some epoxy pours but don't have the time yet.
Шикарный стол и "простые" стулья.... 🤣🤣🤣

Can you give a detailed guide on choosing the epoxy mixing ratios. And the materials required to make one in a cost effective way.
Great work
Gorgeous work, love that table! But can’t second the dust mask/dust extractor comment enough, epoxy dust can be lethal, it’s just not worth it!
Nice......

How many kg of resin did you use?
And what is the size of the table?
Think we used about 60 to 70kg.
2.7m long x 1.1m wide
How do you fill little cracks on the top without staining the table? using black.
Hi Greg. Ek dink jou werk is regtig uitstekend! Eks baie nuuskierig, betaal mense in SA regtig R450 000 vir so 'n tafel? Hoe bemark jy jou tafels?

Jis broer, waar is jy gebaseer? Ek wil graag leer hoe om die tafels te doen! Love die video!
How many hours do u wait before u do the next cast/pour?
Depending on what epoxy you are using
Wat material you use for the epoxy mold
We use white melamine

Hi,
Thankyou for this video. Can you explain to me, please, why should not put all.thi epoxy all in one time? What will hape?
Hallo, i have a full document on our methods and techniques we use to build all our tables and all the information you need, and I documented everything.
You can find the document here

Greg, why can't you put screws into the epoxy? Is it necessary to put your screws into the wood portion of the table?
Love your work! Where do you get your wood slabs from?
All over South Africa. Mostly Tzaneen
Can this type of epoxy stand the outdoor elements?
Not recommend.. the sun can cause discolouration on the epoxy.
Does torching the live edge to make it dark cause any issues in binding between the resin and torched wood? What grit do you use to sand the torched edge? Great work new subscriber
Thanks for the support, the bonding will still be good, we used 120 grit to sand the inside edges, also make sure to wipe the edges off with a cloth.

Great detail and explanations, table looks beautiful.
How durable is the finish to daily use, like as a kitchen table?
Ненасколько
What do you use to clean the slab before placing in the mould?
👍👍👍
You were going in the wrong direction with your router, it can be dangerous if it jumps on you.
Wow! Gorgeous results 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻I love it 💕 Amazing table. Thank you for sharing with us👌🏻
Greg, how can we get such beautiful try furniture wood to Germany?
