  • It's time to supercharge your ukulele fingerpicking skills! In this series, we'll learn new patterns, incorporate a metronome, and push ourselves towards becoming intermediate/advanced finger style players. For Day 4, we'll explore the reverse roll pattern using four fingers in our picking hand. This one has a very mesmerizing effect on the ukulele, so let's get to it!

    P=thumb, A=ring, M=middle, I=index ... what does PAMI mean? Kind of confused 😕

      Hi , yes, it can be a little confusing at first, but 'p', 'm' etc are abbreviations for latin name of each of the fingers/thumb on our hands.
      So this is what PMIA means:
      first put those 4 digits right beside their own string (P/thumb above the g string, I/indexFinger resting below the C string, middle finger/M beside the E string, and ringFinger/A beside the A string).
      Now pluck the thumb (P) on it's string (the g string), then use the ring finger (A) to pluck its string (which is the A string as it happens), then the middle finger (M) to pluck its string (the E string), and finally use your Index finger (I) to pluck it's string (which is the C string). PAMI
      So "PAMI" just tells you in which order you use which finger and so it also tells you in which order you pluck the 4 strings in this part of this fingerstyle pattern.
