    Absolutely wonderful biographical description of Toru Takemitsu.

    Takemitsu was a Life-changer for me! Back in 1980, I was stationed in the Navy in San Diego, and even though I was a Meteorologist, I was also a Pianist, and Composer. I went to lecture at the University of California, San Diego where he lectured that evening on his music. We were showed a film he had scored - "Woman in the Dunes" for Instruments, tape and Electronics. It was Stunning, and after this - an Ensemble performed "The Flock Descends into the Pentangle Garden". Takemitsu was the natural Evolution of what Debussy, and then - Messiaen brought to music.

    Arguably my all time favourite composer. Or certainly one of them! I only really discovered him about 10 years ago, but was instantly smitten. As it happens, Messiaen was one of my biggest early influences as a teenage music student. Once I realised the connection between them it all made sense ;)

    Wonderful bio of Takemitsu. I just subscribed and I hope you will follow it up with revealing more Japanese composers - they actually date back to early 20th century. Naxos issued several CDs which exposed me to a few of them, and there are more on youtube. Another category which does not deserve obscurity are East German composers like Eisler and Dessau. You have done remarkable work shedding light on many Soviet composers so far!

    Very nice channel! I like that you promote underrated composers! Could you do a video about Peter Warlock , William Baines or Guiallome Lekeu? These 3 composers are geniuses but sadly very underrated too...

    • @ClassicalNerd
      @ClassicalNerd  7 лет назад +6

      I made a video about Baines in April 2016 [watch?v=F2FDGzMh1bg], but Warlock and Lekeu have yet to be made. I'll add them to the request queue, but it'll likely be nearly December before I can get around to them due to all of the requests.

    he also wrote pop songs for example Chisana Sora in Japanese meaning Small Sky in English . I knowtice that Lyrics double image of Old Empire lost WW2 after atomic bombs. that shows his will to peace . he decided to be musitian when he listend french Shanson by record that Japanese solger let him listen secretly under the war, that was prohibited as enemys music. I was cried when I realised the real meaning of lyrics hiden behind.

    I can't wait when you get to make a video of me after I'm dead! LOL Anyway, I love your channel and intend to study these other composers I haven't heard of. Speaking of which, can you do Einojuhani Rautavaara? That would be awesome.

    Hi! Your videos are really interesting! It would be great if you made a video about Nikolai Obukhov!

    • @ClassicalNerd

      The Obukhov video will be put in the request queue, but it's behind several dozen others and I can't guarantee it'll be produced until the end of the year.

    Great to see Asian composers! can you also do a video on Chinese composers like Chou Wen Chung, Chen Yi, and Zhou Long?

    • @ClassicalNerd
      @ClassicalNerd  4 года назад +1

      Chou has been added to the request pool. I've always been hesitant to do historical retrospectives on living composers, but I would love to interview them (especially Chen Yi)! I've had lessons/masterclasses/interactions with both of them and she's the much more talkative of the pair ...

    Hey man! Just wanted to say that i really enjoy your videos and i hope that you keep up your hard work! Is Brahms coming up any time soon? Just wondering!

    • @ClassicalNerd
      @ClassicalNerd  7 лет назад +2

      The number of requests I've gotten has absolutely ballooned in the past few weeks, and as I want to get to them in the order in which they are received, the current rate of production leaves Brahms as the first video of 2018.

    • @ClassicalNerd

      Tomita is not well-known as a Composer...more an Interpreter of Composer's work, such as Debussy, and Holst. Also - his synthesizer sound is really "Cheesey!"
