Gaza: “Nowhere is safe. Everywhere is a potential killing zone”, says UN Secretary-General

- In an address at the UNRWA Pledging Conference on July 12, 2024, the United Nations Secretary-General highlighted the dire circumstances facing Palestinians, particularly in Gaza. The Secretary-General emphasized the severe gaps in humanitarian needs and basic human rights, stating, "Palestinians are also seeing widening gaps across the board. Gaps in respect for international humanitarian law." He depicted the conditions in Gaza, where civilians are subjected to relentless violence and displacement, likening their plight to being "pushed into ever deeper circles of hell."
The speech also addressed the challenges faced by UNRWA in delivering aid and the high toll the conflict has taken on its staff, with 194 members killed, marking "the highest staff death toll in UN history." The Secretary-General urged the international community to uphold and protect UNRWA's mandate and staff, insisting on the necessity of continued support for the agency, "Protect UNRWA, protect UNRWA staff, and protect UNRWA’s mandate -- including through funding." He called for immediate action towards a ceasefire in Gaza and a political solution to the conflict, stressing that "Hopelessness is the greatest ally of instability" and declaring, "Ultimately, only a political solution can bring an end to this conflict - one that realizes a vision of two States - Israel and Palestine - living side by side in peace and security, with Jerusalem as the capital of both states."

A. Ceasefire
B. Deploy UN troops in Gaza and West Bank - to protect, preserve and guarantee by means of formal or legal agreements for both Israel and Palestine.
C. Exchange of hostages.
D. Resume aid deliveries in to Gaza.
E. Return of Palestinians to their homes.

And what about the occupation and the apartheid situation? And what about the approximately 9,000 Palestinians( mostly civilians, not hostages) held under administrative detention in prisons.
Regarding Gaza, most of it has been destroyed; they have no homes to return to. All infrastructure has also been destroyed.
