Evie is a true queen. She's just so upbeat and charming, that she's impossible not to like. Same goes for Carlos. Rest in peace, Cameron Boyce, you'll be forever missed. He could have gone onto bigger and better things after Disney.

I feel like Uma should've been Queen of the Isle because she was the only one that truly fought to save the Isle, and break the barrier. Evie's plan was cool too, but it was flawed because it only allows 4 people to go to Auradon. Lol I remember my cousin telling me after watching Descendants 3 that there was no reason for a celebration for VK day because only 4 people were leaving and it's only the main crew choosing their favorite people on the Isle. It wasn't even random.
Didn’t Uma become Queen of the isle at the end. Her and Mal were standing on the balconies, Uma on the isle and Mal at Auradon and they both started the song.

I actually did eventually learn the reason why Lonnie was not in Descendants 3 and why Audrey was not in Descendants 2. Disney has a rule where their actors can not participate in roles outside of Disney at the same time as when they are currently doing a project with Disney. And both actresses were doing things outside of Disney at the time. Lonnie's actress was participating in the final season of Marvel's Agents of Shield while Audrey's actress was doing the reboot of the show Charmed.

@@ramenlover1696 thank you :) I've found a lot of catharsis in especially the first two movies, but also a lot of fan content made by other survivors that see the connection too. It's really sweet.
i feel like there are a lot of lived experiences that can be applied to descendants and the overall message is really sweet and positive. poverty, child abuse, immigration (as an immigrant... it hit hard). i think thats why the 3 one is a bit jarring with the way mal turns her back of the ppl of the isle (even if she ends up understanding why what she did was wrong in the end), and also how the conflict solved itself instead of thinking about a solution that's at least a bit... realistic? and that it could apply to the real world?

Evie has always been my favourite character, when Descendants 1 came out at age 11 (I'm 19 now) I initially found Mal annoying and thought she was overrated and could connect with Evie a lot more, as Evie has both a girly and edgy side, in many facets, like style and personality and mindset. Evie's arc (especially in the first movie) reminds me of Elle Woods from Legally Blonde a little bit lol. I understand Mal and her details and intricacies more as a young adult, but Evie is still my fave.
Cameron Boyce (Carlos) is always so extra when he dances which makes him dancing even better. It made me love him as an actor so much more as well. Just the vibes he gives off when he dances ❤❤ R.I.P
Evie is my favorite character. Whenever I think back on Descendants, I think of Evie and the scene where she gets a B+ on her test. She and Doug are my favorite couple.
Jay will always be my favorite 💪 Him and Carlos carried the franchise so many times in my opinion, and Jay just never failed to make me laugh, he’s so goofy

i just rewatched all three movies and i couldn’t agree more!! the way he loved mal and cared for everyone! he was willing to see the good in everyone even when they were at their worst. his love for mal really won me over like i seriously don’t remember him this being so romantic!! his love for mal was so endearing and definitely goal omg!!!!

There are a few unrelated/somewhat unfair reasons as to why I prefer Uma over Mal (I just happen to like China Anne McClain more, shorties stick together, how Uma’s crown looks compared to Burger King Ben’s (no offense), and so on) but when I look at her character from the movies, what I love most is Uma’s motivation.
Her anti-heroism is my favorite part about her. She isn’t on the side of “good” or “bad”, she just wanted the kids on the Isle to be free to choose where they wanted to live, and if that meant holding on to the rock until she felt Mal could be trusted, then that’s what it takes. (Personally, I felt that Uma and Mal’s friendship was a bit forced at the end of D3, but maybe that’s just because I would hold a grudge against Mal for not saying anything til before the final battle). Even when the characters were first introduced, Uma was scheming for her and her crew to be free in Auradon while Mal, originally, did it to takeover the Kingdom with her mom.
That’s also why I really liked Celia’s character (even though it was really overhyped in the promos). The fact that she wanted to live a better life but still see her dad in the isle was really interesting to me. The fact that some of the villains (or at least Dr. Facilier) could actually be a good parent was something that hadn’t been shown on-camera before. I just wish I had been able to see more of her and the other kids. I swear, the Smee twins are so forgettable because of how little screen time they have.
In an interview Melissa de la cruz said that when creating mal and evie sofia and dove were the first people that came to mind

Evie is my favorite character too! I love how she is strong and independent, but I also love how kind she is, like if Evie was a real person, I think she would be super friendly person to talk to! I like how she realizes that she doesn't need a prince to be happy and I like how she still keeps her love for fashion throughout the franchise. And I also agree with you that Ben should've been on the list as well as he is my second favorite character from the films. I love how much of a big heart he has and how he wants to give people a second chance. I also liked Harry as well because like you said, he's just so mysterious and funny. I definitely agree that Carlos is a such a wholesome character and that he is the best dancer - it's no surprise though since Cameron has always had such a gift for dancing, I remember that even in Jessie, there were times he would dance and I'd be so impressed with his skill. I think Cameron is one of the best, if not the best dancer from Disney Channel.
And also YES, please do a video like this for the Zombies franchise! I am very curious to see who will be everyone's favorite Zombies character. I highly doubt Addison will come in first place since I've seen so many people complain about her character, but I don't think she deserves all the hate. Like I don't think she ever has said that her struggle with not feeling like she belonged/not knowing who she was is as bad as what the werewolves and zombies had gone through. But just because her problems aren't as big as the zombies and werewolves' struggles, that doesn't mean that Addison isn't allowed to ever feel a little bit lonely or upset. But yet people make her out to be so annoying and trying to hard to be different and I just don't agree. ANYWAYS, yes please do a video like this one on the Zombies franchise and even for Disney Channel shows as well! Thank you SO much for making this video, I love your channel so much! She did have the same issues. I agree. And I wondered how many times was she gonna learn the same lesson. Plus her singing that Once Upon A Time song while her friends were frozen in D3 was jarring. I would LOVE to hear your thoughts on what’s going to be in the fourth movie. As a black woman who spent her whole life watching Whitney Houston’s Cinderella hearing that they brought back Brandy and Paolo to replay their roles in this sequel had me almost in tears. And apparently the main characters are Cinderella’s daughter and Queen of Hearts daughter? Not too sure on the complete details. Which is why I would love to hear your thoughts ❤❤

Evie is absolutely the role model I've always wanted. She's such a independent women statement. Regarding Mal, I love her, I love how dove has portrayed her, I couldn't possibly imagine anyone else playing her, but she can be naive, won't lie. In Mal's defence, unlike a lot of main characters that people have issues with, it seems pretty clear that she is *intentionally* flawed - which, at least for me, is a big point in her favour. Even when she is behaving in a way that I don't agree with, I can see the thought-process behind it and how her experiences have shaped her way of thinking. I might not always like what she is doing, but I don't think she's ever done something that didn't make any sense for her character (which I consider a WAY bigger writing sin than just having a flawed character make flawed choices).
I agree Ben was such a sweet heart and if I was in the world of descendents. Mal and Evie were both my favorites. I did end up watching the movies cause at the time my sister was watching clips of the music. It was a cute serious I would have been crazy about it if I was a teen. Evie I can see as myself as the most. But come on y'all Ben deserved a spot.

I just think we should have more characters like Evie as main characters. Usually, they are the best friend or the mean girl. And if they are the main character, there is always a best friend or a mean girl who will be more "girly" and confident than her.
Call it a bit cynical but I feel that Carlos might not rank as high if Cameron Boyce was still alive. I feel like a lot of the love for the character came after Cameron’s death personally even though I don’t think he’s a bad character

Mal was the main character but Evie was the true protagonist. And since the whole concept of this franchise is children of known characters, I thought that they would eventually do something with kids of the original and I already know Evie would be the best parent out of all of them.

what bugs me about the series is that when mal put ben under a love spell everyone was okay with it and then when Uma did literally the exact same thing in the second movie everyone was like 😦. or well, better put, when ben suddenly dumped Audrey for mal it was okay, but when he suddenly dumped mal for Uma everyone was shooketh, that makes no sense 🙄🤦♀🤭

Evie is definitely my favourite. She's so talented, and the character sticks to her beliefs in all the films. I feel like she'd be a rallys for pride, blm, abortion rights ect she's just an amazing person as a character, she's also the mum character which are always my favourite lol

Back when the movies came out my favorite was Mal, but I think now my favorite is Evie. I've always loved both though. I feel like I'm more like Evie anyway. 💙
These movies will always have a special place in my heart. Descendants is the first Disney movie I ever watched because I'd finally learned enough english to understand without subtitles. I loved it so much and I started watching other Disney movies and shows because of it. Mal was always my favourite character and always will be. I even named my kitten after her (the kitten sadly passed away).

About Mal...throughout the franchise my critiques on her grew, some had to do with her as a character and others had to do with the writing itself. So she annoys me sometimes honestly but I do love her, even if my critiques cloud my judgement sometimes

I think Mal got way too much credit for taking down the barrier... Up until that point she couldn't care less about the Isle kids. Evie and Uma, and even Ben, deserve most of the credit for continuing to fight for the VKs.
