Also, what a song btw
It’s pre rendered. It’s also 2003.
Fun fact: the crowds in this video were animated using the same software that was used to animate ridiculously large armies in the Lord of the Rings movies.
Can you tell me the name of this software ?
Just when I thought I couldn't love either one anymore.

Lyrics :
Something for the rag and bone man
Over my dead body
Something big is gonna happen
Over my dead body
Someone's son or someone's daughter
Over my dead body
This is how I end up sucked in
Over my dead body
I'm gonna go to sleep
Let this wash all over me
We don't really want a monster taking over
Tiptoe around, tie him down
We don't want the loonies taking over
Tiptoe around, tie them down
May pretty horses
Come to you
As you sleep
I'm gonna go to sleep
And let this wash all over me.
Thx' I luv it when kool people take the time to post the lyrics
Never thought about this before but it really sounds like he's singing about attention-grabbing and anxiety-inducing news headlines or issues, and the way people talk about them
I‘m only human After all
all the guitars in this song are so fucking perfect
the harmonizing as well...when you listen to this (and most music) with a decent set of headphones and a high-quality digital copy of the track -- man, it just blows you away. All the wonderful layers seamed together so well.
I was worried that it'd turn one-dimensional until the second half kicks in where they deviate a bit from that guitar riff which is good, I think what sold it for me though was mostly Thom's performance so much that I can overlook flaws on its production and instrumentals (as opposed to Sit Down Stand Up)
Man what is your profile picture from??? It feels like you reached into the deepest recess of my mind to find that picture, but I can't for the life of me tell you where it's from
@@paulphoenix1669 just about to ask the same thing, I recognize it but can’t remember what it’s from
The mix on this song is damn near perfect. No damn autotune, no click-track/synchronization, none of the crap modern digital production that makes all today's music sound the same.
Does anyone else find it extremely satisfying how at 0:45 the camera JUST passes past each person at the exact same time the bass/root note of the guitar riff is hit?

one of my all time favourite Radiohead songs - pure urgency!!
Yes .. urgency. That's a good word to describe it.
Over my dead body!
Good ol' Radiohead. One band I can always rely upon to make consistently decent albums. Gotta love 'em.
how was this comment posted ten years ago when the video was released five years ago wtf
@@shahidullah5983 this was a rereleased video, but music channels get "privilges" and are able to transfer comments from video to video.
Decent is an understatement.
I Insulted Thom and he bit me.

I just realized Thom is supposed to be the insane homeless guy that screams about the world ending and shit.
Saber Is A Wulf thanks for pointing that out:3
The song was written at the time when there were reports the US was going to be invading Iraq. In the song Thom is playing two characters. Himself "over my dead body" and the adversary, George Bush "...I'm going to go to sleep.."
So Thom is basically MC Ride
Alex x bg Yeah, but English
If you were homeless, the world would be ending as far as you and anyone caring was concerned, Saber. The world is your experience of it.
they crept up and found their way to my heart.
18 months ago i couldn't stand this band, i don't know how they did it but they are one of only 5 bands i can listen too and feel pure joy.
Damn eleven years... Do You still fill the same way?
They do tend to Creep up on people
Ill never forget being a kid in the 90s and absolutely DESPISING the weird, unitelligible and slightly disturbing music video that mtv showed sporadically. (It was Knives Out - my first ever exposure to Radiohead) I hated it. It was "boring and weird".
Now look at me now lol
Same here
Until The Bends, I hated them, thought they were the weirdest band ever created, couldn't get into OK Computer to save my life
Thankfully after The Bends, my opinion got better, and I finally grew to like OK Computer
Then In Rainbows and Hail To The Thief, really good for the most part
Finally Kid A And Amnesiac, where I had to overcome their most non-rock albums (and they weren't too bad)
Recently it was Pablo Honey, which thankfully wasn't boring and had some alright songs
So all that's left is The King Of Limbs and A Moon Shaped Pool, and I'd say things are going ok with Radiohead for me; really good on some parts, half decent on others
Sorry about the paragraph
So strange when I decide to listen to Radiohead songs I haven't heard before but it turns out I have. So many songs I've heard from my dad playing them but I never know the names.
Look up the bootleg albums "Towering above the rest".
I can guarantee that there will be songs on it you haven't heard before.
me feel the same
Your dad is cool af
Yep same situation here
I had experienced this with Nine Inch Nails because my parents would play them all the time, but not Radiohead, most I had to discover for the first time.
Hail to the Thief is so underappreciated. I consider it a top 3 radiohead album.
It's my favorite.
Amnesiac, Hail to the Thief, Kid A
Well, hey simply ignoring people can be just as brutal as a clean right hook to the jaw😎
Does anyone disagree?
Ok
Hail
Kid
Inrainbows
Amnesiac
Bends
The rest
It's underappreciated (by me) because the band did what "fans" wanted: More of Thom's familiar voice and more
guitars after Kid A and Amnesiac. They should lead the listeners instead of following them, as they started doing
after Hail to the Thief, mebelieves.

This came up in my recommendations at 1:23 am. OKAY RUclips I'LL GO TO SLEEP
Its 1:23 am as i’m writing this...
Okay, I will go to sleep now since Radiohead told me to.
Me too
Goodnight
"Go to Sleep," "There There," "Punchup at a Wedding," and "Where I End & You Begin" are my four favorites from this underrated, overlooked album. It looks toward their future but also employs the guitar action many of us miss in their more recent stuff.
underrated? wasn't this album met with accolades and universal praise?
@@dogsoap maybe this is just in my circle, but compared to the other albums it’s not talked about as much
@@dogsoap it came out at a very good time for their fame (kid A and ig a bit of amnesiac), so when it comes to critiques and awards it performed well due to everyone’s new views and hype towards Radiohead.
However looking back now, people don’t have as much interest, as people realise the album itself isn’t that great, and while it has its high moments it’s overall quite drawn out. This leads many to basically disregard the whole album entirely tho, which is a shame because while it’s no masterpiece or iconic creation, it’s still deserving of more general acceptance and recognition in the present day and in future
Don’t forget Motion Picture Soundtrack

Radiohead: The Video Game
Now available nowhere, unfortunately
hah!
Spend the whole game teasing fans by playing some great songs live, then not releasing those songs till 20 years later!
Better than the COD.
Kayne Jacques cool Highly Suspect pic, I'm seeing them live in a few weeks
Ayy the boy who died wolf is a great album
radiohead are one of the few bands who can make use odd time signatures and still make a catchy song
I like how those NPC's are just casually moving around while building crumble literally in top of them.
My thoughts exactly. Its like the world is ending but all they can think about is I cant be late for work
And when the buildings reassemble, they're just doing the same thing. Not noticing what's going on around them.
It's a Bethesda game.
As a full-flesh Fallout fan, I can tell you that what you said is pretty offensive.
Therefore, correct.
Maybe Thom is just some crazy warlock that destroys buildings and puts them all back together so much that they’re all just used to it
In case you ever wondered what Thom Yorke would look like as a videogame character, this is it.
Micah Buzan I think some sort of motion captured was used
That was my guess also. This came out right when that tech was just becoming popular. Very cool how this somewhat primitive production has a more powerful impact than if the rendering was more lifelike. The uncanny valley effect I guess.. One of my favorite videos.
they already did that one in the paranoid android video :-)
- horrifying
Kid A blips lol
Radiohead is the band Coldplay wanted and never will be.
One of my favourite Radiohead songs that is so overlooked
I like the song so much!
I agree, love this song so much!
Over my dead body!
This song and this video was what got me into Radiohead many years ago and its still one of my favorites. Although now compression on videos is good enough that I can actually see it clearly, as opposed to on Realplayer all those years ago.
My first was there there
I was about to go to sleep, but all the Radiohead videos are now 1080p!
Shame the studio version of this song ends just as Jonny's guitar starts freaking out.
That change at 1:30 is absolutely genius.

We can talk about how the video is so badass??

AGUANTE BERSERK
Fun fact: The lyrics to this song are complete nonsense, they're actually placeholder lyrics Thom wrote when he was writing the song. He was going to rewrite them before recording, but he had forgotten to by the time they were due to record the song, so he just sung the random placeholder lyrics he'd written and hoped for the best.
maybe that's one of the reasons this one never really grabbed me
Even his placeholder lyrics are good
I disagree. The song is about Timothy McVeigh. Particularly his execution. The alternate title gives it away.
I mean, placeholders are often better, they may sound nonsense, but they have that subconscious message inside
@@TheAngryBiscuitchannel228 yeah look at everything in its right place for example

"We don't want the Loonies taking over....." i got some bad news, Thom....
can't tell you how much i have played the song love is not a strong enough a description
This shows the class this band has like no other
I've heard Thom Yorke claim that the lyrics to some of his songs aren't that significant but I don't think that's the case here. Everything about this song including the film clip has turned out to be weirdly prophetic.
The meaningless purpose of life
This song is in my Radiohead top 5
Same. I learned it the night the album came out and I've played it almost every time I've played my acoustic guitar since then.

That guitar solo is such a tribute to Talking Heads "Remain in Light", one of Thom's favorite albums.

To this 55+ American, this song, this album was as reaffirming of the continued artistry of western rock-based vibe, as it was transformative, ushering in other voices to the text, washing over those who’d deny current greatness in modern rock.
Does anyone remember, before RUclips, Radiohead released this music video for free on its own website?
Words cannot describe how much I love this band.
This song starts in 10/4, and then switches to 4/4… so crazy, weird, and amazingly addictive.
