I like Thom York's voice. It sounds as it's gonna crack anytime, yet it never does.
I never thought of Thom’s voice like that, but thanks to your comment, now I do. I hate you.
I love it. Though I have heard his voice crack, but it doesn't do anything to the quality of what he's singing. It just fits with it

Seeing this video on MTV at 2 in the morning as a 14 year old was a crazy experience. Never seen anything like it
How I miss the old nights, pure unironic poetry
Me too, I remember they’d censor it in the day and cut off before the dude stripped to the studded thong and you missed the ending
I miss the experience staying up late as a kid or early teen, seeing the things that fit the late night vibe you never got to see.
Dude same! This was my first concert, they opened for Alanis Morrisette, I was 15, it was AMAZING 🤩
Bro I've been looking for this song since the 90s. Some kid from TikTok pointed me in the right direction.

When I was around 7, my mom used to go to the gym twice a week but because no one could take care of me at home, she would take me with her, where I would wait for her to be done in the reception of the gym. I usually did homework or played with my DS, but there was also this one big TV where some music video TV channel was always on. That way, I ended up watching lots of mv's but one stuck with me. I just remember a lady coming out of a tree and flashing to some guys, a fat man getting his limbs thrown into the ocean, and some bridge scene. I was 7, so it pretty much traumatized me because it was so dammed vivid. I tried to find that mv for 12 years, but nothing. Ironically, I've been listening to radiohead around 4 and this one song was one of my favorites. I always use Spotify, but still, I have no idea how I never came across this legendary video. Just imagine my surprise yesterday, looking this song up on YT, and finding that weirdass video from my childhood. That way, I can say radiohead has always been with me, be in the form of music or in the form of nightmares.

the 'edginess' of ok computer is so witty and sharp. no other album quite captured that turn of the millenia angst that was strangely prophetic into the mood of 21st century life.
Even Radiohead themselves couldn't create the same feeling, probably because it has a little from the Bends and their more experimental side
@@voidx6782 Idk I feel like Moon Shaped Pool with Ful Stop kinda captured a glimpse of it. Maybe not an albums worth, but there are other songs from the band that have a similar vibe.
It was meant to be in protest against the great popularity and fame that The Bends brought. It ended up being even more popular… So they made Kid A. Which is an inexplicably amazing album but never reached the same heights of popularity, as planned.

This song helps me through hard times. Lately I’ve been upset about what happened not too long ago with me and my best friend. It was 4th grade, the school year was almost over, and I was eating lunch with my friend. Who would’ve known that would’ve been the last time I’d ever seen him. We were neighbors too, so sometimes after school we’d hang out. I had thought he went home early due a doctors appointment, because that’s a common thing in our school district. For those curious, the song's title is a reference to Marvin The Paranoid Android from the works of Douglas Adams. The line about kings & first against the wall is in relation to Marvin's in-story creators, a robotics manufacturer known as the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation, whose products were known for being so faulty that the only part of the company to show a consistent profit is the complaints department. Their marketing division is said to be a bunch of mindless jerks who will be the first against the wall when the revolution comes. Short answer, yes.
Their early work was a little too Brit pop for my tastes, but when OK Computer came out in '97, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. They've been compared to Pink Floyd, but I think Radiohead has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.
I see what you did there
In 2000, Radiohead released this 👉 Kid A, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "The National Anthem", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. Radiohead commissioned Magnus Carlsson, Swedish creator of the animated series Robin to make this video. The band sent Carlsson a recording of the song without any lyrics because they didn't want the video to be too literal. He locked himself in his office for over 12 hours listening to the song on repeat while jotting down visual ideas for the video, which features Robin and his friend Benjamin from his animated series. I'm guessing around the 11th hour of being locked in his office, his ideas started getting a bit weird...

This song is one of the best examples of the concept of "organized chaos". It's a swirling, churning, rising, tumbling, cacophony of sound & melody. It's frantic, frenetic, melodic, melancholy, on the border of bedlam but yet somehow never loses control. A work of GENIUS! IMHO.
Also, animation is great but try this: ignore the images and just listen - they distract from the sound and have little or nothing to do with the lyrics.
They have everything to do with the meaning. Open your eyes not just your eyes and Realize.

Dude, it's a rock song with 3 sections.
Ok Computer is a masterpiece
That's correct.

One of the best albums ever made
yes
What an unpopular opinion
Radiohead - Paranoid Android ... was the BEST RARE SONG back in the day. Excellent guitar, excellent keyboards, excellent grunge, & if you were lucky you got THIS EXCELLENT video! WOW in 2023! Thanks boyos! 💯
Hi I Recommend an indie rock song Called 'The Bond Villain' By Robert Nix
3:30 is my favorite part. It's so hauntingly soothing and I don't know why
5:41 this part is the reason why I love Radiohead to much, somehow with startlingly polar opposite forms of music the part before fits perfectly in with this one, it’s a perfect form of music. Thank you radiohead
The angel grabs the depressed boy and puts him behind the controls, as if to say, it’s your life...do what makes you happy.
nice interpretation...I like it
And then the angel shows the boy that nothing is really in his control as life is pre determined and you cannot stray from that path. This is shown when the angel lifts the boy above the ping pong table and shows him that the ping pong paddles were still playing.
What if nothing does it?
@@jvcg1335 nothing does what?
Why the the ‘president’ came back to the tree ?
everytime I listen to this song, I feel so many things at once. thanks, radiohead
It's so fucking nonsensical and I love it.
Hi I Recommend an indie rock song Called 'The Bond Villain' By Robert Nix
I didn't expect this song use as ending of "Ergo Proxy"
i can already feel the nostalgia
When I first watched this video, I was around 6yrs old. My dad was watching MTV and I was supposed to be asleep but he let me stay up to watch videos with him. For years, this video was embedded in my memory. The scene where he cuts his limbs with the axe and the mermaids put him in a tree always stuck with me. when I asked my dad if he remembered it, he would always say no or idk what you’re talking about. Fast forward about 12yrs later, I snuck out of my house to hang out with my boyfriend and got high as fuck. We had the tv on all night and I hadn’t been paying any attention to what was playing. I heard a familiar song and looked to the tv. I freaked the fuck out. I started jumping and shaking my boyfriend like, “omgomgomgggg this is the video!!!!” He didn’t know what I was talking about, so I told him the same story. It was a wild experience. Fast forward to now, I’m 28 and this video and song still remains in my core memories. I fucking love Radiohead.
I love this so much and think your dad is amazing for giving you this memory
"and got high as fuck"
The only thing that adds to your story is people knowing you have no control about your life...
I have the same age and a exactly reaction today in the work... So I came here...
@Xalene Santini: and as a huge Airwolf fan, i love your last name. ^-^
Damn! That's an awesome story. Thanks for sharing it.
Must be up there as one of the best songs ever created
Fun fact, the main character of this music video (guy with purple beanie) is seen in the Lift music video asw. (He’s seen at exactly 2:52)
I remember buying this CD back in 98 and playing it in my car when the "rain down" section came on and it literally started raining. I was 16 then.
@Hunter Vonnegut
Bot bot bot bot bot bot!!!!!!!!!!!!
that is so dramatic and I love it
@MartinEden1984BOT ALERT!🤖🤖🤖
Hey Daria ! 👋
I really wish Radiohead did a few more prog-rock epics like this.
holydrones They still just might
A few more....like it's a piece of piss. Feck me.
Thom: "Come on Ed's, let's make a few more Paranoid Androids, dafuq are you playing at?! Lazy shitestains."
Peter Bright The oddest part about your comment is that Ed was the one who wanted to keep going in the direction of guitar music. It was more or less Thom's idea to shift the bands direction in the way they did.
@@tml- You have completely missed the point of my comment.
Jigsaw falling into place is complex too, its stricture is very nice
I heard this song one time in the 90s and it has stayed with me every since. Happy i found it again.
Thought this was "meh " first time I heard it..... now I think it's a masterpiece.
You should look up a band called The Doublejumps if you like Radiohead. Different sounds but similar vibe, from my home country (new zealand)
This is the Bohemian Rhapsody of the 90’s
no, it is paranoid android, so it is better
@@UFOUneFamilledeOuf better than bohrap? No.
@@wornstrat5517 yeah, you’re right, true
@@wornstrat5517 paranoid android is so much better
@@YesVideosToTalkAbout It's a hell of a song. But in my opinion bohemian is simply immaculate.
paranoid android is their magnum opus
creep is just their most popular song
true
motion picture soundtrack is their magnum opus
There was a time when I stayed up every single night just waiting to see this on mtv.
This song is the most important piece of music in my life.
It is perfection.

Ikr, you can see details that you couldn't earlier
