Either Doug Walker improvised when he saw the cover and genuinely realised the image on the front really was the toy and changed the script when he recorded that real reaction just like when he was genuinely angry in his Pearl Harbour review
Or - that was some of the Greatest Acting I've ever seen

Doug saying how in 2010 he was 28 really puts into perspective how much time has past. I think I was 16 when I first saw this.
Now I'm nearly 30 and Doug is 41 I believe. Goodness time goes by so fast.

The ending was clearly meant for a sequel. Dude was gonna turn into the orange monster, and the sequel would have the orange and blue ones fighting/chasing each other. Luckily someone had the sense to NOT make it.
We probaly could have gotten more fight scenes than modern godzilla movies

I think the ending is like the origins of the toy villain for the sequel. Clearly none of the cast or crew watched the finished product if they expected a sequel.

I think the ending would be better if this film got a spin-off show where the scientist went around turning other people into monsters, making the kid have to use his monster powers to stop the other monsters as the scientist creates a monster army.

Okay, I can believe that some little boy gets turned into a monster. I can believe Max and his siblings are more concerned about a dog show than what actually happened to him. But, the most shocking thing in this movie is that a young Yannick Bisson, Detective Murdoch from Murdoch Mysteries/Artful Detective, actually played Rod.
I know, right?! I was just rewatching this review and saw his name in the opening credits, and I'm like, "Detective Murdoch was in MY PET MONSTER?!"

So, to briefly answer the film's ending and also explain why the "Monster" didn't resemble the toy enough, I read a comment left on a RUclips upload of the movie. Apparently, the commenter knew one of the actresses in the film and she gave intel. So this movie predates the cartoon series, but was initially intended to be a pilot film for it's own live action TV series.
Due to problems with the budget, mostly in managing the suit, the show was turned into a cartoon and rewritten. That's why the movie seemed so open ended, the scientist was intended to turn into "Beastor" and be the main villain of the series. Beastor WAS in fact the main villain of the cartoon. So that explains the creepy ending.
As for the monster suit, apparently the film's production team did not have access to the toy which was still in development at the time and therefore didn't have good reference for their suit. Obviously, by the time the film's intro sequence and VHS box art was created, they must have known what the final toy would look like.

I was never even a fan of the toy, but I hate the premise of this movie very much!! It's a PET MOSTER, it's its name! You can also free it from its chain! So the movie should be about a kid who has a pet monster, not about him being turned into a monster, it's all backwards! It would be as if they made a movie based on Spider Man and make it about some kid having a pet spider!

The best part is the sick ass cartoon/NES intro. I remember being obsessed with it. I would beg my mom to rent it just so I could watch that shizz, over and over again. I remember wishing upon a star that they would make a full length movie in that style!!!
When I was very little I saw this movie and then I played ghost house for the master system I thought it was the game from the intro.

Actually your comment is true but, In the Old Man Logan comic that the new film Logan is based on, Hulk and She-Hulk have children together and are in an incestuous relationship. This storyline probably won't happen in the film because 1) it's pretty fucked up and 2) Marvel owns Hulk and Fox owns Wolverine and the X-men so the crossover is unlikely to happen. Fox probably won't do a Sony and share with Marvel like spiderman is being shared.

I remember when this episode first came out, so many people were freggin afraid that Doug was quitting the show.

I remember when Doug first posted this on the old TGWTG site people were really worried he was about to quit the NC. Some people take the show waaay too seriously haha. xD
Heojii you know he did quit? For a time, after one of the channels movies, the NC died and they actually did a final video and a goodbye and everything.
And then tried to make something new and have it be his own passion project only to scrap it and be forced to go back playing as the NC. And even with the controversy failing, it did succeed in having the NC loose it’s reputation and gave me a realization on one man being forced to do the same thing endlessly for money without doing anything else is honestly really sad. Despite not being as sad of a life as a grifter but really sad. And this clip gave into an insight on potentially Doug’s psych on his life and if he really wanted to branch off on something new. And with the possibly unintentional edit of the Hulk theme, this makes the ending more… haunting

This really makes me miss Angry Critic. He hardly *ever* gets this angry in modern reviews. I'd love him to take on some old 90's movies he never looked at before like Hackers and see how angry he gets from the bad writing and acting (though, I love that movie, lol).

For some reason I remember watching that show, and yet years later, I hardly don't remember a single thing about The Big Comfy Couch at all.

As soon as the sister pulled Rob into the room, one thing raced through my mind: "THIS IS A SHITTY E.T!" Just look at this, it's seriously what E.T. would have been if no one gave a shit! 3 Siblings trying to hide an odd creature (who this time is one of the siblings) And trying to hide it from everyone except that one scientist, and think about it, if E.T. was done terribly, the kids would have went straight to the person who'd fuck them over the most!
