Tainted Grail too dark? NONSENSE! He he! It is really dark, but this is what set it apart from other similar games in my opinion. This new version looks very interesting with a lot less grind. Most definitely going to back it.
I'll be comparing them a bit in the upcoming roundup, but to sum it up, Tainted Grail is an excellent storytelling game with puzzle-y combat, whereas Oathsworn is an excellent combat game with puzzle-y storytelling. That's a bit of an oversimplification, but if you're choosing between them, then it should give you an idea of the main thrust of each.
Part of the campaign is the availability of a v2 upgrade to the original Fall of Avalon (FoA) game. Kings of ruin (KoR) has fewer encounters leading to combat/diplomacy face offs than the original FoA and apparently with V2 FoA is less crunchy. If you don't have FoA then you can include full V2 box and expansions in your pledge. Great storytelling now becomes the focus.
For me the currently available player characters of kings of ruin dont really speak to me. So I just backed the 2.0 Fall of Avalon base game (with echoes from the past), hope I can convince someone to make the journey with me when it eventually arrives.
