I grew up idolising stevie nicks and her sheer beauty and ethereal almost fairy like way she performed; I always said to myself no one will ever be able to make me as breathless and captivated as she can but every time i've seen a live performance of florence and the machine i've felt the same captivation, she just has this energy and presence that makes me want to smile and dance around like she does.

Count me in w/the same experience as well, especially live. Can't wait to see her again next month. I am freakin middle-aged now :o so I refuse to buy GA tickets to concerts, EXCEPT for Flo b/c the closer the better.... and I would so love Florence and Stevie to do a duet. (Even though Stevie's voice is far from the same, she still has that ridiculously indescribable presence live and I will never miss her or Fleetwood Mac when they come to town. I'll be seeing her/them again in March!)

Then some Americans. You can see Patti Smith in so many places it's ridiculous as well as Stevie Nicks. ( Who oddly both have some quite British influences so it kind of makes sense. )

I remember way back when I first saw her. She used to just park and bark. Like she was serving the vocals of a lifetime while not moving from the same spot. And now she still serves the vocals while bouncing and spinning around and I love to see it. To see how her presence on stage has grown, how she is more confident and maybe seems to enjoy some more (?)
What a beautiful performance. "Hunger" is already deeply meaningful to me (and to Ms. Welch herself, as far as I know) and this performance made me appreciate her even more. Everyone who witnessed this is so lucky. It was magical, melancholy, authentic, vibrant, and content at the same itme.
the string work in this song is probably the best thing they've ever written, sad they didn't do the full intro, it's probably the best part of the song.
