- THE SOUND OF HISTORY
To pay tribute to its 175th anniversary, Patek Philippe created a collection of limited-edition commemorative timepieces, and one of them stands out in particular. It is the so far most complicated wristwatch of the eminent family-owned watchmaking companies and decidedly one of the world's most elaborate wristwatches. This is due not only to the number of complications involved but also to the horological degrees of complexity, two of which have been added to the annals of watchmaking for the first time. Moreover, the Grandmaster Chime is the first double-face wristwatch presented by Patek Philippe that can be worn with either dial facing up: the one that focuses on the time and the sonnerie, the other dedicated to the full instantaneous perpetual calendar. Changing the face is very simple thanks to the ingenious reversing mechanism in the lugs. It is amazingly easy to operate and firmly secures the case in the selected position. Incidentally, the information for which a watch is most frequently consulted - the current time and the date - is displayed on both dials. The ultimate in user-friendliness and safety is assured with intelligent mechanisms that prevent potentially damaging manipulations and thus reliably protect the highly complex movement with its intricate cosmos of tiny parts.
Patek Philippe's Grandmaster Chime is a wrist-format timekeeping instrument of absolutely unprecedented complexity and ingenuity that establishes new benchmarks in terms of technical and aesthetic elegance. Its double-face case with a diameter of 47 mm, it accommodates four spring barrels and no fewer than 20 complications, including coveted functions such as a Grande and Petite Sonnerie, a minute repeater, an instantaneous perpetual calendar with a four-digit year display, a second time zone, and two patented global debuts in the domain of chiming watches: an acoustic alarm that strikes the alarm time and a date repeater that sounds the date on demand.
one of the best short Movies ever on youtube. uplifting and amazing.
what's uplifting about it?
One of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.
They've given all their secrets away now - I'm gonna make one tomorrow.
Might take a few months. I've been to their museum and the curator said some of the most complex ones they make involved over a YEAR of design and assembly.
And then they sell them for a million bucks...
The museum also has Rudyard Kipling's pocket watch!
@@largol33t1 True you need a master precision and good hands.
The watch is a masterpiece, and the video was incredibly well produced. Above all though, whoever is responsible for the music + sound production of this video is truly a master of their craft.
sneeze once, and you lost your job
No shit
That was absolutely insane.... and the music was great!
Artwork like this goes even deeper than the physical beauty: an approach towards perfection that is ridiculously over the top to such a degree would not be possible without passion, and if that type of passion does not characterize the human experience, I don't know what does. As a researcher involved in QA/QC protocol development, I have always wondered how Patek tests something like this. Certain functions of this watch practically require an astrophysicist to explain them...Neil degrass Tyson could narrate a movie dedicated solely to the various things this watch can do & why certain complications were used as they were. There are so many individual components on that watch that they could spend their next 175 years testing it!
In case anyone is wondering:
The Patek Philippe Grand Master Chime ref. 5175R will be a limited edition of seven pieces, with one residing in the Patek Philippe museum in Geneva.
The other six will be priced at 2.5 million Swiss Francs (approximately $2.6 million at time of publishing).
I love this video & the detailed work & focus that goes into the time pieces
I love watches, and watching the making of this one gives me goose bumps.
best part of the video 00:00-10:37
Roberto López it's my favorite part too 😁
aesthetically speaking not a fan of the case whatsoever, but a phenomenal achievement horologically speaking, love how they show you the care and attention to detail that's entailed in the process
A masterwork of engineering on the wrist. Only Patek could make a watch like this.
cookingprof Rolex?
This is a marvel of craftsmanship, intelligence, and beauty this is the epitome of master timepieces . Only if I had 2.5 million I would buy this in a heartbeat. Life goals I guess
OMG! Very very elegant, i love Patek Philippe! Thank you grandmaster.
This is the most magnificent thing I have ever seen
Very very emotional video. I cry for this mechanical miracle of watch manufactory.
This is such an extraordinary piece of art, absolutely stunning :) It will certainly blow my mind when I see it in person.
I love the ink stamp. That was satisfying.
Everyone loves art. Whether it transforming someone’s trash to mold a masterpiece or painting a Sistine chapel. This is as beautiful to me as the Sistine chapel is to some because of the art. Will I ever own one? Yeah right. I’m a civil engineer by trade and love to see how things work. I build roads and bridges that are on a different scale obviously but how they work is what makes me tick. I’ll never understand how this piece of art “works”. But damn it’s beautiful
Are you fascinated in your own construction? That's cool.
Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime 5175R - 10:37 Minutes Full - HD
By the end of this video I noticed my 5 year old daughter was also completely captivated by your worksmanship. She then told me she would buy me one some day. ❤
Really?! 5 years old and already so smart and cute!
AWESOME MASTERPIECE
Excellence and vision do come with a price. Well worth it.
this is ASMR at its most beautiful
Can you get it with a NATO strap?
Just magnificent.
I've got it on a rubber strap for daily use
Ox5f3759df i traded it for a seiko 5 because it's more practical
A face of time sculpted at the hands man measured in time and patients and what a beautiful face it is.
Perfection to the max.
Money for art.
But many artists who never get value for there hard work
amazing engineering
Really amazing watch!!!
mind blowing. breath taking.
Such a complicated things to make this watch done, and that hardness make this watch costs a million
Magic , Beatifull , i have no world ! God !
an absolute beautiful watch !!!!!!!
Now, some people just do not understand what a Bugatti is, and why it demands $2m price, vs similar per se spec GT-R... but $20m for a watch is unfathomable!!!
i'm not gonna cry
Breath taking, magnificent beauty
Breathtaking...
Fuck the watch, I want that pencil sharpener in the beginning!
)))
Well know that it's for 2mm lead used in clutch pencils. It's called the Gedess lead pointer and is made by DUX now.
adv6464 fam, you just sent me on the wildest Google search to Google everything you just said.
MY GOD! how beautiful
i like the video but what kind of pencil sharpener was that in the beginning?
Una obra de arte reflejada en un gran reloj Patek Philippe!!!!
I just got emotional over a freaking watch.
This video made my hairs stand up and gives me a refreshing shrivels which is nice!
Awesome craftsmanship
Superb👌🏽
Breathtaking!
When one man is the assembly machine and the quality assurance technician
this is just amazing :o
Incredible work!
Piece of grand art .....
such a perfect piece
Picked up this watch at my local Walmart yesterday.
I LOVE this time piece. It is wonderful to see a watch that wouldn't look like I was wearing a child's tiny little wrist watch. Heck, my wrest measures 9" around and I am very tall compared to the "average" 5'9" U.S. male - I was that size in junior high at 12 years old. Now, if I could just figure out how to pay for this beauty and be high enough of the list that they would even sell it to me.....:/
i wish there were more videos like this
It's a work of art
The fact that all that beautiful machinery is totally hidden after assembly, bothers me way more than it should.
They should have put a mineral crystal back so you can flip it over. That way the watch face is protected and you can see it ticking.
You have more engineering in this watch than a Rolls Royce Engine!
8:57 watchmaker : "finally, you are born son"
love this watch, love this video, love the music
masterpiece
btw, why they use IIII ? why not use IV ?
think different
roni novrendi its so the symmetry is better because IV is small compared to VII but IIII is better
For historical accuracy. IV was recent, IIII was the original in time pieces (pocket watches)
love how they left in the guys mistake at 7:19
You know you’ve made it when you get a watch made for you like this
Espectacular, una obra de arte.
Awesome...
Mechanical watches are absolutly amazing and fascinating.
Its a pitty that industry dont develop more this.
Automatics should have more bigger power reserve and be more reliable, without need servicing.(fixing) so soon.
minor invisible imperfections: *exist* patek philippe: unacceptable conditionnnnnnnnnn
I've chewed through two of those Metal Earth models before finally putting together a misshapen jet...
Hermoso trabajo....
5:12 was so satisfying
4.20 blew my mind
David Smith Why?
i knew i wasn't the only one haha
It was pretty neat. Ironically, one of the simplest parts of the watch construction too.
Hahaha! I thought the numbers were carved and glued on. Wrong!
Perfection
What a great look inside ne of these amazing timepieces. But, they just had the pace of the video a little to high for my liking. I want to actually see more of the craftsmanship. Not 100 clips that are 1 second long back to back to back. Still awesome to see though.
So much more valuable then "stupid" diomonds.
I could imagine the feeling, wearing one Grandmaster.
This is just unreal....... :O
Me encanta como trabajáis la tecnología que utiliza is
All those snobby people saying they'd rather hang on to their $10 Casios, we'll just test that silly theory. If Patek or another big name like TAG was selling $1,000 automatics for $100 for one hour only, how many Casio fanboys would immediately throw their credit cards down and say: "I want to buy TWO of them!"
We all know the answer to that!
If you want a decent automatic that doesn't cost a huge amount of money but still keeps accurate time, you could try Tissot or Mido.
My Tissot sport watch will never compare to the beauty of this watch. Actually it looks better!
If this is not ALIEN technology.....what it is? Awesome
Impressionante
Amazing!
Just WOW!
really nice
sublime..
So what's the point of the pink jewels or all of the pretty stuff just to cover it up
I wouldn't be surprised if you found a peace of skin or hair in that clock. I see no cap on his head or somekind of dust protection even no gloves.
+John Smith He only wears those when he assembles the more expensive models... ;-)
+Alex Meijer Robots gonna own watchmakers one day)
I'm surprised they used metal tweezers to handle the parts. I've seen many other companies use wooden tipped tweezers to minimize scratches
That would be funny
Awesome!
very nice
Thanks god that I am not a watch maker ! Must be very tense working there ...
Now that's art not those crappy paintings they call art
yeah, its nice...... but is it waterproof?
NOW THIS IS FUCKING ROYAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is what i imagine an angel would wear.
Am I missing something or is that a 24 hour clock that is actually not aligned with the 12 hour clock?
OMG WHERE CAN I FIND THAT PENCIL SHARPENER
You would probably pay 2.6 million $ for it 😄
*Aşık oldum saate*
Yeah, but is it waterproof down to 60 meters?
Well they sure took their time
Love it
YOU ARE THE PAN 💯
One day..
Нереально круто!
lol people hating on the price cus deep down they’ll never be able to purchase 1.
