I'm switching to mouse & keyboard joystick from controller. Selecting my binds was a little easier as I use my left thumb for all movement. I found the part about using one bind for a combat/build/edit function really useful as it cuts down on the overall number of binds needed. It also makes switching from controller a lot easier as I'm used to one button performing multiple actions. The only thing I find slightly awkward is having my jump on mouse side button along with wall, but its optimal as my thumbs always on it and I don't really have to move it to use my wall bind.
I just can’t see this being worth it, I’m thinking of changing to optimal binds after literally years of the same binds but if I were to do that I’d just change 2 of my builds to mouse button
I don't think you need to use a different finger for sprinting and jumping. I need to try placing builds on right click. one downside which comes in my mind is for taking walls you have to press both clicks so you have to get used to that.
@@tuoimunt7407 it dosent change ads. It’s still right click. It dosent mess with anything except “change build material” which is by default bound to right click, that I did change to caps lock
Pretty sick, thanks. I shifted to where my index is on J and pinkie is on F. EZ to find cuz they are ribbed keys. +, thumb rests on SB, right near Alt and reload stays on R. Well thought out friend...
As far as which button to bind "place build" to, a side mouse button is better than any downwardly pressed mouse button such as right click or middle click. This is because when you press down, you change the effective friction, if you recall your high school physics lessons. And unless you're an absolute zen master, you probably tense up and push the right click button down hard in a panic. With the side mouse button, a tense grip doesn't affect your mouse movement at all. A side mouse button held does not increase the normal force downward onto the mouspad, so you can fluidly move the mouse around while doing your crazy builds, such as when you do long distance mouse flicks downward to place floors or do ramp edits while walking over them.
I’m not even joking I changed to these binds and just in 2 days I got used to the movement and my building took about 2 in a half months to get used to but bro I love these and my builds are so much better.
this is the most optimal unoptimal keybind video I’ve ever seen😂 reminds me of trickshotters playing octopus back in the day on cod. ( aka crab on crack )
yo, fr i tried the binds in this video at the start of this season and i improved a lot, i recomend all of you to try change some binds, maybe thats what is holding you back
I posted a comment asking this a year ago and it was so bad I eventually quit fortnite but now that im getting into it again I would love to know a fix for this. Using the example key binds I can not jump while moving left and forward or right and forward. I also can't jump while sprinting or sliding.
I use something similar to this, reidtheninja's take on optimal binds to be specific. He doesn't use the wasq layout which suits me I tweaked it a bit using uhjk movement jumping with alt, and edit with space moving my thumb off jump. They have worked fine for me, but I do understand the benefits of going to wasq or uhjy for me because then space can be another button and the index finger is freed up, ill think about it and thanks for this video, its wayy to detailed but it has everything I needed.
life changer lol i found that i needed the anchor of the right alt or my hand would lose where it was and i would die as well rigth alt its next to the razer hypershift button so in s sense i get access to a whole other keyboard with this shift. the current standard for keybinds are there logically but they are not universal and im sure have screwed up alot of people. any 1 whos gonna make the shift, find a comforable spot and (thumb right alt recommended.) but close eyes and just place hand on key board wriggle fingers stretch and do best to let hand go from its neautral and build your binds from there for yourhand break free from the wasd slavery !
Having both strafe buttons on the same finger is horrible for other games. In CS, val or apex you nees to change movement directions quickly. doing this with one finger isn't viable. but for fortnite i suppose it works
@@redokeo3221 bit of a late response, but you wouldn’t be able to move right without taking your index finger off of the forward key, unless you you hit both at the same time using the same finger (which is just awkward imo)
Strafing is not as important due to being able to build on-demand cover, and with multiple keys to be bound, while CS:GO will punish you for moving .01 m/sec. Just different means to win each game which results in different keybinds.
bro the things you said about the keybinds for builds all being on a different finger is good but most people just dont some even just use the same for 3
love this video. always been a controller and used this guide to chose my fn binds. after awhile decided to use my little finger as move forward and and back because i know its my weakest fingers (side note in LoL my R- has always been my Q as its the least ability used in game and I can touch type) great format.
As a piano player all my fingers are flexible and movable throughout my keyboard, so I had no reason to change my keybinds, however I did, I made my entire keyboard useless to anyone else trying to play fortnite, for example, I made ERTD my “WASD” so I can amusingly watch my friends try to play on my pc when they visit my house, it’s really amusing, plus I can easily learn any keybind
Yo, I've been using your binds for 3 months now and I noticed that when you walk right holding the R key you can't edit, I don't know if it's a bug or if it's just my game.
Thanks bro I changed all my settings and it is good thanks for your hard work in the first 2 hours I could do a 90 and a triple edit on maps thanks so much❤

6:20 you also sometimes want to press V to view a weapon's specs. This involves your ring finger, which is used to move forward. So you want to bind auto-run to something to free up your ring finger to press V, to make the transition smooth and seamless. If you assign auto-run to another key on a ring finger, there it'll result in an awkard stutter where you stop running for a moment as you let go of forward to hit auto run So I use middle finger, on B key for auto run. edit: Since augments came out, I now use pinky (S) for auto run -> ring finger (E) augments. This results in a nice smooth, seamless transition, where I never stop running, and my hand doesn't go into any awkward motions or straining. It's just as smooth for for auto-run (S) pinky -> map (Z) pinky. (you just do a little pinky circle on the keyboard)

That way it isn’t so overwhelming when trying to enter them in myself.
@@taylorghash listen I know with the video you just saw and everything people are commenting, shit can be very confusing, but trust me you don't need these keybinds at all. Ever noticed how less than 1% of pros use exotic binds, it's cuz they're overrated and not only unnatural but overly complicated. Assuming you're also playing other games, it's extremely impractical. Just use WASD, normal keybinds for most stuff, and generally just what feels comfortable for you. Other's binds will never feel as good as your own, just start with default binds and play around with stuff once you feel comfortable.
@@naebbenaeb that’s fair thanks man. I think I’m going to just move the wasd over to the right to esdf that way I have some extra buttons to the left to hit. I just want someone with pretty decent keybinds to be like ok dude use these for a while and make variations. Any way you wanna share yours?
@@taylorghash ESDF is very good, gives your pinky finger (possibly ring finger too) more keys to press. If you have side mouse buttons I'd recommend at least using one of them for wall or stair, you can do both too if you like, that's what I have. As for floor, I'd say something you can press with either your pinky or thumb, so something like shift/z (pinky) or v/c (thumb). For cone you just use the opposite of what you did for floor, so if v/c for floor, you use shift/z and vice versa. For sprint take either whatever would be under your pinky build, or take whatever would be to the right of your pinky build. The rest doesn't really matter that much, but try that and play around with stuff you don't like
I stuck with WASD because I play a lot of other games, but if there's one thing I had to change it would be to swap my Edit (Left Shift) and Use (E). Maybe I should just change and find out.

@@blaaper seeing clips doesn't tell you anything, just that the person has gotten used to their binds. You don't need to see a sharper knife cutting a burger to know if the knife can cut better, since you already know a sharper knife cuts EVERY ingredient better, obviously including buns, lettuce, tomato, meat. you'd only ask to see a clip if you're suspecting that it's impossible to play fluidly with these binds. This video kinda scares me ngl. I feel like I have to switch but I'm afraid to do so lol. You will get use to it. Make sure you can move at all time and build any piece, and I personally think you should. Not use 1 finger for one build and edit at the same time to. You got to switch between 2 buttons whit one finger that is actually not optimal. T forward G backwards R richt F left H or Y for edit Wall mouse button 4 or 5 Ramp mouse button 4 or 5 You can press them together with your Thumb on the mouse. C roof (picky) C,v,b floor (Thumb ) you can jump whit spacebar and press ons of those buttons you're most comfortable whit That's what I use. You can switch and mix them around. I need to try placing builds on right click. one downside which comes in my mind is for taking walls you have to press both clicks so you have to get used to that.
How would u shoot
@@sessmy5259 still left click. aim down sights probably with caps lock. but I guess I wont try it😂
@@tuoimunt7407 it dosent change ads. It’s still right click. It dosent mess with anything except “change build material” which is by default bound to right click, that I did change to caps lock
Oh common ofc I don’t have side mouse buttons on my mouse 😭 is there any other good place build binds?
First video I've seen from you and it's honestly impressive ! I'm going to try this.
Pretty sick, thanks. I shifted to where my index is on J and pinkie is on F. EZ to find cuz they are ribbed keys. +, thumb rests on SB, right near Alt and reload stays on R. Well thought out friend...
Thanks now i will proceed to use the same binds but switch wall to caps and floor to q
LMAO STOP ME SAME RELATABLE
I literally didn’t know most of these things you showed in this video thanks. I never used my scroll wheel but now I do!
A side mouse button held does not increase the normal force downward onto the mouspad, so you can fluidly move the mouse around while doing your crazy builds, such as when you do long distance mouse flicks downward to place floors or do ramp edits while walking over them.
i would love to see you make a video of your keyboard binds, you seem to really know your stuff.
@@jeffhill1213 you know, maybe i will.
the top mouse button or the bottom
@@gwhowould this also affect aim and it would be better to put shoot to another side mouse button
This feels really comforting on my hands bc there tysm
this was done masterfully
This helped so much I have to use a computer although I use switch and I’m already becoming good at
I’m not even joking I changed to these binds and just in 2 days I got used to the movement and my building took about 2 in a half months to get used to but bro I love these and my builds are so much better.
I just started playing fortnite so If I put my binds to t,f,g,h And I put my builds on one of them will I Move or will it just place down the mat?
this is the most optimal unoptimal keybind video I’ve ever seen😂 reminds me of trickshotters playing octopus back in the day on cod. ( aka crab on crack )
yo, fr i tried the binds in this video at the start of this season and i improved a lot, i recomend all of you to try change some binds, maybe thats what is holding you back
thx for all of it man
are these binds still the most optimised in chapter 6 s1
yes, he talked about it in a recent video
Im planning on switching from controller to mbk so i might as well go all for it
Best video ever I’m committed to get use to this
How are they
do you have any tips on relearning the movement, crouch, and target buttons
They helped a lot thx man
I posted a comment asking this a year ago and it was so bad I eventually quit fortnite but now that im getting into it again I would love to know a fix for this. Using the example key binds I can not jump while moving left and forward or right and forward. I also can't jump while sprinting or sliding.
Iwl this my first day on Kbm and it’s already feeling kinda nice thx for the vid
I use something similar to this, reidtheninja's take on optimal binds to be specific. He doesn't use the wasq layout which suits me I tweaked it a bit using uhjk movement jumping with alt, and edit with space moving my thumb off jump. They have worked fine for me, but I do understand the benefits of going to wasq or uhjy for me because then space can be another button and the index finger is freed up, ill think about it and thanks for this video, its wayy to detailed but it has everything I needed.
life changer lol
i found that i needed the anchor of the right alt or my hand would lose where it was and i would die
as well rigth alt its next to the razer hypershift button so in s sense i get access to a whole other keyboard with this shift.
the current standard for keybinds are there logically but they are not universal and im sure have screwed up alot of people.
any 1 whos gonna make the shift, find a comforable spot and (thumb right alt recommended.) but close eyes and just place hand on key board wriggle fingers stretch and do best to let hand go from its neautral and build your binds from there for yourhand
break free from the wasd slavery !
what binds are good to drop the hammer real fast after using it
im just switched from controller.i wanted to ask if thats fine to have your edit and confirm edit on the same bind as he said so?plz answer
Having both strafe buttons on the same finger is horrible for other games. In CS, val or apex you nees to change movement directions quickly. doing this with one finger isn't viable. but for fortnite i suppose it works
make both bottom for straffing and both top for up and down👌🏽
@@redokeo3221 bit of a late response, but you wouldn’t be able to move right without taking your index finger off of the forward key, unless you you hit both at the same time using the same finger (which is just awkward imo)
Strafing is not as important due to being able to build on-demand cover, and with multiple keys to be bound, while CS:GO will punish you for moving .01 m/sec. Just different means to win each game which results in different keybinds.
the movement was the last thing i got used to but it was so rewarding 😭
Really nice vid about binds😊
bro the things you said about the keybinds for builds all being on a different finger is good but most people just dont some even just use the same for 3
I'm about to switch to KBM and this was perfect to watch
I wish I would have found this video waaay sooner!
Can you do this but for controller? Right hand claw, 2 hand claw, and back paddles
Good vid man keep up the good work
love this video. always been a controller and used this guide to chose my fn binds. after awhile decided to use my little finger as move forward and and back because i know its my weakest fingers (side note in LoL my R- has always been my Q as its the least ability used in game and I can touch type) great format.
I love it so much and I got better thank you so much btw I sub to your Chanel
As a piano player all my fingers are flexible and movable throughout my keyboard, so I had no reason to change my keybinds, however I did, I made my entire keyboard useless to anyone else trying to play fortnite, for example, I made ERTD my “WASD” so I can amusingly watch my friends try to play on my pc when they visit my house, it’s really amusing, plus I can easily learn any keybind
he’s tuff
Yo, I've been using your binds for 3 months now and I noticed that when you walk right holding the R key you can't edit, I don't know if it's a bug or if it's just my game.
You can
My character glitches or gets stuck when i press R. Idk why
@@masihhaidar398 When you hold t and r you can't but when you hold t and f you can.
@@highsteysagarias it works for me tho. But it glitches when i press R
really helpful! thank you! (you just gained a subscriber) :D
How do you switch from building to combat?
Bro are you insane? from practical to doing too much with that right movement bind
Thanks bro I changed all my settings and it is good thanks for your hard work in the first 2 hours I could do a 90 and a triple edit on maps thanks so much❤
are you still on this settings ? cuz ive seen latest videos and saw different keybinds...
can you make one of this videos for if you have the thumbstick on the bottom
I'd like to hear your thoughts on the MaxxStick
ve seen your movement bind recommendation, and did like my way, im from brazil, so sorry for my bad english
i did
w- foward
s- back
a- left
q- right
Caps-lock- Run
L-ctrl- crouch
then i build
l-shift - roof
v - stair
md5 - floor
mb4 - wall
D- edit
E- Pickaxe
then i trade materials in the dpi button of my mouse and put the builds in the right click
i use the same settings been on then for a week thats crazy hows the progress
Took me less than a day to get used to wasq, I thought it would take me a lot but you were right
6:20 you also sometimes want to press V to view a weapon's specs.
This involves your ring finger, which is used to move forward.
So you want to bind auto-run to something to free up your ring finger to press V, to make the transition smooth and seamless. If you assign auto-run to another key on a ring finger, there it'll result in an awkard stutter where you stop running for a moment as you let go of forward to hit auto run
So I use middle finger, on B key for auto run.
edit: Since augments came out, I now use pinky (S) for auto run -> ring finger (E) augments. This results in a nice smooth, seamless transition, where I never stop running, and my hand doesn't go into any awkward motions or straining.
It's just as smooth for for auto-run (S) pinky -> map (Z) pinky. (you just do a little pinky circle on the keyboard)
idrk about this, have never ever had to use inspect and I've been playing since season 2
I’m just switching to kbm. I’m really struggling with just getting all the key binds set to something to get at least started in the right direction. I’m wondering if you could help me.. I’ve always been on controller and the key ins screen is confusing. Is there any way you can send me some screenshots of your keybinds?
Hey man I used to think that I shouldn't change to wasq because I play other games too but speaking from experience it's better to have optimal keybinds for each game you play. It's confusing but worth it
@@RoyalJelly-q4e I have my wall on Q, that's not changing XD I have floor on F and roof on 4 and G, stairs on C. I was talking about swapping my Edit (Left Shift) and Use (E).
@@bhuvangunessee I'm saying that you don't need to stick only with wasd for every game if you want optimal binds for Fortnite consider using wasq but it's not hard to transition to another game from wasq to wasd

Wow good explanations i have to try this
A bit too advanced for me as a brand new KB and mice player, but I guees this could be something to try out in the future
i changed all settings, hope to improve by now on lmao
I would love to see you try and incorporate a joystick in one of these videos. maxxstick is pretty nice
Watched bruxs advanced settings video. Hes the fastest editor oat and can use quad binds while building with his binds
I just switched from controller to kbm and I want to try optimal keybinds since I have no muscle memory on keyboard but I struggle a lot for the movement
Do you have any tips to get familiar with the movement on keyboard ?
Keep playing bro, i struglled hella but in the end i got the movement down, the brain learns!
I’m don’t wanna switch my movement binds because I don’t think my mechanics won’t be the same and I’m LOWKEY scared to switch it cause I like to pull out my pickaxe and pump when I’m editing
you get used to it very quickly.
think of your proficiency as a curve.
you'll get used to most maneuvers in 3-7 days, and only a few lingering, rarer scenarios will be remaning after that
@@gwho I see you comment everyhere, thanks for helping people out!!
Whats the best keybinds for Azeron keypad or keyboard joysticks?
If I use triple edit binds and put edit to my side mouse button instead of shotgun, where should my shotgun go?
prob index finger but idk
How are you supposed to cone and floor place
Nvm
i hate the movement keys but i understand your point & well i can't even run right well cuz im too dumb :)
yooo i changed to these settings and theyre way better then my old ones bc my old ones were not good like my point finger was used to press like 5 or more key yk (thanks soo much @Sly Jack)
Ive used YGHT as my movement binds for around 6 months now, its so optimal i never understood why other didnt use it
It is really good ngl
post some clips i wanna see some people play on these keybinds, Ive been trying for like 2 days and its still kinda hard
You don't need clips to prove that, you can simply know immediately based on the nature of binds and how fast you get used to changing up movement binds.
Slyjack himself plays on the binds he recommended in the video, and he provided clips.
@@gwho i just wanna see more gameplay of people playing with the keybinds i find it comforting someone is going through the same as me
Can u do a full keybinds tutorial?
Ima try this when I get home
I don't know if this is out there, but something for left handed mouse aimers would be cool!
This video kinda scares me ngl. I feel like I have to switch but I'm afraid to do so lol. I might just change to WASQ instead cuz I noticed that with edit on release off (just switched a few days ago) I noticed it's now harder to edit while moving to the right especially making right hand peek edits since you have to move to the right straight after confirming the edit.
my binds:
Wall Q
Floor E
Edit F
Ramp Shift
Cone Mouse Button
Now the problem is, where do I put the wall bind?? I guess the other mouse button or V?? But idk, it feels kinda weird to hit.
Edit: I switched to WASQ, Shotgun to F, Edit to D, and Wall to mouse button. I can somewhat play normally with the other binds but the movement is hurting my brain.
You will get use to it.
Make sure you can move at all time and build any piece, and I personally think you should. Not use 1 finger for one build and edit at the same time to.
You got to switch between 2 buttons whit one finger that is actually not optimal.
T forward
G backwards
R richt
F left
H or Y for edit
Wall mouse button 4 or 5
Ramp mouse button 4 or 5
You can press them together with your Thumb on the mouse.
C roof (picky)
C,v,b floor (Thumb ) you can jump whit spacebar and press ons of those buttons you're most comfortable whit
That's what I use. You can switch and mix them around.
Keep in mind one finger for one build and edit to is most optional 😉
