In the hands of a capable player to lead them, Sturgian troops can be an absolute _force_ on the battlefield. Unfortunately, however, their territory itself is borderline indefensible, so an AI-controlled Sturgia will almost always get bowled over by the other factions. If Sturgia's landmass was more solid and connected- rather than being one coastal outpost, and effectively two corridor islands connected by a single tiny landbridge- you'd probably see a lot more action out of them.
this really isnt the reason they fold. yes they have bad troop logistics but really it's the fact that; 1) they have terrible archers, you should never use them over the skirmish cav, which will at least distract 2) their units really only come into their own at tiers 4 and onward which means their early game really suffers 3) they have terrible exp progression for their units which compounds with issue 2
@@ferg4486 The Aserai have several benefits that lend themselves to lasting a long time without the player altering things compared to Sturgia. 1. They have a prosperous territory. Sturgia is poor. 2. To get at the Aserai, you have to go through either of two chokepoints at the extreme ends of the west and east map. The Aserai bitterly fight those regions. Sometimes they win some, sometimes they lose some, but in the end the fighting is contained in those areas. 3. This leaves their prosperous heartland untouched. Their villages and towns yield resources and manpower for the war. Armies shattered and worn away but there's a lot of villages and towns to run a circuit for recruitment. And they're back rather quick. As long as the Aserai can at the very least contain the fighting in those extreme and opposite ends, they will last. However, I almost never see them expand greatly. The best I've seen them do is push out a bit outside of those choke points. But they have an awful time holding on to them. The choke points I mentioned that makes it easy for the Aserai to defend with makes it a pain in the butt to reinforce conquests outside of home. 4. An extra! The Aserai's location and remoteness means it's difficult for other factions to truly focus them down. Factions that can attack them have more immediate concerns. I've seen the Khuzaits, South Empire, Vlandia send some powerful offensives against the Aserai. But it always peters out because of the distance and often 2-3 front wars that eventually arise.

I’d say it just came down to tactics at that point both sides made blunders like the empire trying to skirmish your lines and you sending your cavalry alone to deal with theirs that and numerical advantage you would’ve had to seriously mess up to lose that fight
No, they are not the best faction. If the imperials had deployed more elite troops, the outcome would have been much more different. Suffice to say they had deployed less cataphracts than they usually do.

Not to mention the Sturgian Heroic Line breaker is better than the Aserai Palace guard
The sturgian bowmen are unnecessary, just get more heavy spears. I regularly win battles, on the hardest settings, outnumbered 2 to 1 with just the heavy spearmen.
so.. sturgia is the best faction because their tier 5 and 6 won vs imperial army with that was mostly tier 2-3 and some veteran infantryman? Your druzhinnik champions kept dying like flies tho for some reason. Also stupid ai for some reason decided to use archers as a meat shield xD

@nuh_uh210 I never said take it all away.
