Ren met Sam Tompkins when Sam was 16 and Ren was in his mid-20s. Sam was busking without a mic or any accompaniment. He wasn't getting much attention. Ren saw his talent and told Sam that he would let him use his mic and would accompany him to show how much of a difference those things would make. He also let Sam keep all of the money. BTW - Ren stays independent because he cares about his messages, doesn't want to be censored and because money isn't his priority. I imagine Ren has had numerous and lucrative offers just in the last 1 1/2 yrs since "Hi Ren" was on You Tube. 28 million views. He discusses a meeting with a rep. from the label company (he said he humored them with a meeting). They wanted him to adjust "Hi Ren" to make it radio ready and how they wanted him to do it. Ren said he was in a band when he started school . The band was Trick the Fox, then Ren was too sick to finish his deal he had with a big producer. Then he met the guys and got together doing busking outside in the band called The Big Push. And then while Ren was getting treatments for his illness he separated from the band and they all went their own way. Ren put out his song called Hi Ren and the was his big intro on RUclips.

30 yrs ago...Ren would of signed a lucrative contract with some souls sucking big label. The labels would of had a bidding war on him. He is a rare talent that can play multiple instruments, sing beautifully any genre, rap and story tell and many other skills. He was already signed with Sony at 19 yrs old. He then proceeded to get deathly ill and was bed ridden for basically 10 yrs. Him and Sony parted ways after he couldn't fill the contract. He made music from his bedroom when he had the energy. He had a few stem cell transplants to bring him back to the living..(his words). Ren would of been a household name signed with Sony if he didn't get lymes disease and autoimmune disease. He would of been wealthy but would never have gotten his messages out because Sony would of forbid it. I think like Ed Sheeran, Ren would of still went independent after he fulfilled his contract with Sony.

Music fans are almost always more girls. The audience is mostly guys only for more rough music or agreesive lirics. The best would be a more equal audience, but guys take longer to open their mind and have less patience to listen to music that it's not on fast pace.
