Sophia Loren's crying at the station (5' 27") is the most touching part of this film. Years of that scene stuck in my memory as a testament to how awesome Sophia Loren's acting was.
It's the best and most touching film about the war - it shows a ruined life of two loving people... I can watch this movie as long as I live and always reveal something else in every scene, dialogie or just panoramic views of the places... It's a real masterpiece in all aspects of cinema industry. I can't imagine amy other music - Henry Manchini has created an integral part of tragedy with every note of it.

Ayer, 21 06 2024, tuvimos el privilegio de escuchar esta pieza en el festival de Pesaro ejecutada por la orquesta filarmónica de la ciudad, con imágenes de aquella maravillosa pareja de gigantes del cine como Loren y Mastroianni. Espectacular y conmovedor volverla a escuchar tan bien realizada!
This movie was shown in the cinemas of the USSR in the 70s years of the last century. Almost 50 years ago. There were no or computers or CD on which we could to listen to the soundtrack. My friend managed to record the main musical theme of this movie on a reel-to-reel tape recorder from the radio. What a joy it was to constantly listen to this wonderful melody. And I don't know modern composers who can create such wonderful music for movies today

My Mother worshiped Sofia Loren and "Sunflowers from Russia" was her favorite movie. As a child, whenever "Sunflowers of Russia" was on the TV my mother and me would cuddle in the bed to watch and this song would never fail to make her cry.
Bellissimo e indimenticabile film,Mastroianni è il mio attore italiano preferito,con quello sguardo fra il trasognato e malinconico grande coppia insuperabile per recitazione,niente a che vedere con gli attori attuali,ho visto tutti i loro film e li rivedo sempre,non t i stancano mai.Una storia d amore sullo sfondo della seconda guerra mondiale,che ha fatto lutti in tante famiglie. Me trae una nostalgia profunda ya que está hermosa y triste película Una joya verdaderamente la Vi a mis cortos cuatro años junto a mi amada madre QEPD que gustaba tanto del cine italiano y su idioma al que dominaba.Recuerdo cuando se las contaba a mis vecinos también italianos y no en castellano.Que alegres se ponían aquel matrimonio que había sufrido el cachetazo de la guerra.Don Savia que así se llamaba el vecino fue prisionero de guerra llegando a pesar poco menos de cuarenta kilos y su esposa que tuvo que parir a su primer hijo entre bombardeos Todos esos relatos quedaron grabados en mí,es por ello que no puedo evitar las lágrimas al escuchar este hermoso tema.

Yo también soy uruguaya y Vi está película siendo una adolescente, en el cine del balneario San Luis, mi hermano pasaba las películas. En la década del setenta, todas las películas que veíamos eran europeas, el las seleccionaba, las iba a buscar a la capital y era muy jovencito, tendría 17 años, y mi papá tenía una cachila de lis años treinta y hacían publicidad del cine por los balnearios vecinos. Que recuerdos, que películas, nunca más volveremos a verlas, eran todas excelentes.

Ayer, 21 06 2024, tuvimos el privilegio de escuchar esta pieza en el festival de Pesaro ejecutada por la orquesta filarmónica de la ciudad, con imágenes de aquella maravillosa pareja de gigantes del cine como Loren y Mastroianni.
Espectacular y conmovedor volverla a escuchar tan bien realizada!
Y hoy pudimos caminar por el hall de la terminal donde transcurren las últimas escenas
Magistral actuación de Sofía Loren y Marcelo Mastronisni, y la música bellísima con ese toque de nostalgia, dolor y amor.
This movie was shown in the cinemas of the USSR in the 70s years of the last century. Almost 50 years ago. There were no or computers or CD on which we could to listen to the soundtrack. My friend managed to record the main musical theme of this movie on a reel-to-reel tape recorder from the radio. What a joy it was to constantly listen to this wonderful melody.
And I don't know modern composers who can create such wonderful music for movies today

My Mother worshiped Sofia Loren and "Sunflowers from Russia" was her favorite movie. As a child, whenever "Sunflowers of Russia" was on the TV my mother and me would cuddle in the bed to watch and this song would never fail to make her cry.
Bellissimo e indimenticabile film,Mastroianni è il mio attore italiano preferito,con quello sguardo fra il trasognato e malinconico grande coppia insuperabile per recitazione,niente a che vedere con gli attori attuali,ho visto tutti i loro film e li rivedo sempre,non t i stancano mai.Una storia d amore sullo sfondo della seconda guerra mondiale,che ha fatto lutti in tante famiglie. La colonna sonora è stupenda, come tutte quelle di Mancini,chi si dimentica di Maggy time ,di Uccelli di rovo!?

I have been crying whenever I watched this movie with Henry Mancini's music.
Cuánta emoción me da este tema!!! Me trae una nostalgia profunda ya que está hermosa y triste película Una joya verdaderamente la Vi a mis cortos cuatro años junto a mi amada madre QEPD que gustaba tanto del cine italiano y su idioma al que dominaba.Recuerdo cuando se las contaba a mis vecinos también italianos y no en castellano.Que alegres se ponían aquel matrimonio que había sufrido el cachetazo de la guerra.Don Savia que así se llamaba el vecino fue prisionero de guerra llegando a pesar poco menos de cuarenta kilos y su esposa que tuvo que parir a su primer hijo entre bombardeos Todos esos relatos quedaron grabados en mí,es por ello que no puedo evitar las lágrimas al escuchar este hermoso tema.
