The green dial version with the croc printed strap reminds me of the SARB017 Alpinist. Interestingly the strap of the Alpinist is well known to be stiff whereas you seemed to like the quality of this one.
It’s softer than the strap on the alpinist but not much softer…also, easier to be ok with cheap straps on cheap watches…the SARB017 isn’t cheap these days which is why that strap seems so disappointing

Hi Gary, nice selection of Seiko watches the green/gold is the stand out one for me but they would all look good on the wrist.
Attractive watches! Ceramic bezel in a 200-250$ Seiko? Not very likely. Is it written in the specs? Perhaps it's pvd or dlc coating on a stainless steel bezel?
I just had a kotatsu imported from Japan with a "evergreen forest" motif. That Green and Gold Seiko would look perfect on my wrist as I enjoy my tea under the kotatsu.
I must admit, I had to look up what a kotatsu is, but now I know, I can see the attraction.. Very good taste, my friend!! 🙂
A couple of these are VERY appealing to me. I have a Seiko chrono from a few years ago, the "Big Date" quartz model. That watch is almost perfect except it could have used a few lume pips here and there. But when I go for meeting or appointments, that's a watch I always like to strap on.

Very nice bunch of watches Gary. I've had a chronograph year myself, with three new purchases, a JDM Orient 3 dial Panda, a fantastic Pulsar solar chronograph with a motorsports theme (Seiko movement of course) and a Pagani Uranus Moonswatch homage, my only Pagani and I love it. This is a very nice collection. The green and gold with the steel case and no gold accents is beautiful. I don't like the gold cases we usually see, too blingy and cheap looking, this is a perfect combination. Excellent video, look forward to 2023!
Am thinking of buying a orient Pepsi color watch and later a seiko 5 sport watch with blue straps.. been haven my eyes on them for a while.. Somthing new for me ever to wear and hold for ever.. ever since I saw my 2 brothers wearing there cool luxury watches I also wanted to wear one..

I would definitely pay the extra for the solar version. I know you would probably never put £100 worth of batteries in a watch, it's more of a convenience thing.
Not sure why people prefer the 3-6-9 placement as the subdial at 3 is more of decrative 24 hrs dial not part of the stopwatch so max stopwatch rage is 60 mins while the 6-9-12 one have 12 hr chronograph
I do have a question ... on other channels people often complain about Aliexpress homages and refer to them derisively ... would you say that these and the Seiko speedtimer could be called homages of the Daytona and Speedmaster were they done by another brand? If so do you think that there will be a trend of mainstream brands beginning to homage each other filling the price gap between inexpensive Aliexpress and the originals?
Thanks for the video. All of them are very nice, inexpensive chronographs. One option is to forgo getting several of these cheaper chronos and get a single JDM Seiko Astron (starting at around $550 new). The Astron line have double AR coating, titanium case and bracelet, and radio sync.

I wish they do 369 dial with 8T67 movement so no more useless 24 hr subdial. I've recently realised I love chronos after a grail purchase and now I want an affordable one for daily, just grabbed the SBTR005

Really like the 027 version, the sunburst light blue dial one but it's always out of stock. Most likely beacuse of your videos Gary and the +200k views the previous 2 have - should contact them and ask for commission/affiliate link 😉

2:30 my SPB121 has the same strap and buckle , it’s ok for a cheaper watch like the one being reviewed here, BUT on a $1200aud Alpinist it’s CRAp
i do like the Meca quarts, but they have a fault: if the center seconds hand doesnt reset to the 12 marker then the hand needs to be removed and a new hand fitted, there is no other way to reset which IMO is poor for a modern movement, when they are working though they are brilliant, i wouldn't buy another after 3 going wrong

They're lovely watches. Just be mindful if you don't have good peepers, some of these watches are not great at giving you a clean read. Disappointed this wasn't mentioned. My ageing eyes are struggling with the one I bought.
