- Big thanks to secret viewer that sent in couple watches, you know who you are.
This jdm chrono uses the 8t63 quartz movement and remains affordable. Hardlex crystal and hollow endlinks all aid in that.
The movement inside actually IS a Mecaquartz, and number is correct, 8T63. BTW, Seiko's so-called Mecaquartz is just a regular quartz movement with an instant, mechanical reset function. This one resets exactly like that, with loud snap and crisp sound when it's started. I don't like these movements very much as I had pretty rough time with many of them, but for better or worse - this is the one of them. And I agree about the looks of this watch - it looks WAY better than its price point suggests!
I have one. Bought from Sakura watches for $184. Dial color is something like gray-blue, depending of lightning. Actually, it's listed everywhere as gray dial. Watch is really great looking and looks much more expensive than really is. Downfall is bracelet, or to be more precise, clasp with only 2 micro adjustment holes. Links are long, and with only 2 positions it's extremely hard to get perfect fit. I can't, so I've put mine on a strap.
And Rob, IT IS a Meca-Quartz!
Those Mega Quartz movements are awesome!
Just purchased one of these, and as others say looks a lot more expensive than it actually is. Definitely grey face despite some videos and pictures showing it having more of a blue look to it. I love it though. Very classy looking watch and already received a number of compliments whilst wearing it.
My only disappointment with it (and I'm being really, really picky here) is that the lume is not as good as indicated in some pictures or videos that I have seen. Give it a quick burst of exposure to my UV torch and it's superb. But it's gone again within 10 minutes.
It's keeping perfect time though.... Two weeks in, and it's not lost/gained at all.
Had no problems with the bracelet, one link out and moved the pin to the nearest micro adjuster on the clasp and perfect fit for me. I love Seiko Chronos.
One of the best quartz chronos from Seiko for the price, thanks for review Rob!
I'm not into blue dials but this one tho. Damn! Hoping this same dial shows up on one of their future divers.
I have this model and can say the accuracy is outstanding. It is only 1 second slow after owning for 30 days (Bulova accutron accuracy).
These are great JDM chronos that are probably going to sell out eventually.
Unbelievable value. Just got one. It’s beautiful
That color makes it. Great looking watch.
8T63 should be the equivalent to the Seiko Instruments VK63 Meca-quartz that is so popular with many Microbrands and their chronos, it is just the in-house naming. So this is indeed a meca-quartz and probably one of the best Daytona homages out there. I own this one and the blue dial and they are phenomenal watches if you ignore the bracelet.
🎶 Goin' up to the spirit in the sky ...
🎶 Nice and blingy watch.
Thanks for the quick review! Bought it recently and have been enjoying it on my wrist since then.
For anyone who's wondering, the tag says ±15s per month on average.
Handsome piece! I have a couple Seiko quartz chronos and love them. If only they would let you adjust the 24-hour subdial separately.
I have this watch for more than a year. I replaced the bracelet with a black nato strap and it looks more beautiful IMO.
Such a handsome watch for not much money. I’d easily pull the trigger and buy it if it costed $300 - $400. It looks like it’d cost more, but props to Seiko for making it accessible for the rest of us including us with fairly small wrists. What’s more, its a mechaquartz! You get the best of both worlds! Quartz accuracy and a touch of mechanical element for the chronograph stopwatch function! Can’t beat it. ❤
Nice, I have seen this one before - Thank you Rob 😊👍
dial looks awesome tone
I wish this came with a silver bezel
I have it and it is a super cool watch. I paid $175 usd!
i have the tiffany blue color of this. i like build quality and it looks fantastic. no issue with movement as it only gains 3 seconds a month. However my biggest gripe is legibility. it's hard for me to tell the time instantly like with my other Seikos. Also i wish the minute counter was a 30min and not 60min, that further complicates the reading.
A good looker. I’m tempted.
Nice, inexpensive Chrono!
1:40 huh? I'm pretty sure 8T63 is a mecha-quartz movement. Second hand doesn't tick but sweeps 5 times a sec, so I think that's a mecha-quartz spec, isn't it?
Yep 2:36 snaps right back…just like a VK63… funny that . You’re right it is a Mechanic-Quartz
If it weren't for the huge font and the ghastly MIN printing, this would be a compelling choice.
i wonder how is the longevity. i had a 6T63 movement that developed problems and a quick googling shows that it's a pretty common issue.
the 8T63 is an update over the 6T63 so not sure if it has been made more robust.
That's a beauty of a watch!
oh, so it's a meca-quartz that's in it! that's nice!
Great looking chrono.
Love this watch. I found mine in Japan for $130 new
Where did you find it for that price? Everywhere I've seen it around $200-220
@@felipec2157 from a local shop in Hokkaido Japan.
Hi Rob, I just posted my first RUclips unboxing video. It’s ruff but got one out there, will continue to improve. Thanks
Keep posting. Try and record with phone sideways though. Let me know when you drop another video
Scotts what's your channel
Junior Johnson Hi Junior, just click on my name, it will take you to my channel. Thank you.
Bit of an Astron series vibe going on
I'm curious if a Mildat Jubilee from an SKX would fit that Chrono?
Pretty sure the 8T63 movement is the same as the VK63 movement so this is a mecaquartz, like how the 4R35 is the same as NH35. If I'm wrong then ignore me lol
Close - the 6T63 seems to be the same as the VK63. The 8T63 looks like an improved model with +-15s/mo accuracy instead of +-20 and an EOL indicator.
The 8T63 is definitely mecaquartz. I have a Seiko chrono with the same dial layout, different model. Great watch. Nice feel to the pushers. These Seikos are fantastic value at around $200, even better in gods used condition.
@@fillerbunny ah yep, cool. These Seiko's are much more worth it for the price being mecaquartz over quartz
I have a Seiko solar that has that same blue face with gold indices and it is so hard to describe the blue because in some lights it can look gray or charcoal and some lights it can look blue and then in some lights it looks neither
Which solar model is that?
Beautiful Watch
Just got this watch and it’s my first chronograph. Is the second hand not supposed to run all the time?
Where did you get the glowing dinosaur
It looks cool and I want one
If this watch is anything like my old Seiko spirt smart chronograph SPBY119, then it also has folded link bracelet. I mean I paid $250 for a watch I can deal with hollow end links but folded links is pretty terrible.
I got the same one but just wish I could get it in automatic or maybe there’s a way to change the movement to automatic
Nice vid 👍
What's the length of the bracelet please?
I have a 8.5 Inch wrist 😬
Tnx in advance
Very nice for price 👍
30k yen converts to $285 & change usd at the present conversion rate.
Nice color
Nice video
Cool
I recently picked one of these up. I absolutely love it, but has anyone else had an issue with slightly wiggly chrono pushers? After a week of use, the pushers on my watch move from side to side slightly, and I can hear the rubber gaskets squeaking against the metal when they shift around like this. It isn't that severe--they're not that loose, and it doesn't interfere with functionality. But it just feels a little crappy, and I worry about compromised water resistance. Is this normal, or should I send it back for another copy?
i don't know why i don't see the lights when its dark :(
Is this automatic?
What's the automatic alternative?
What means JDM?
He wants to remain anonymous? Lol, what does he think someone's gunna hunt him down for sending in a watch or even really cares about some random dudes first name? Some people are delusional.
It’s Rick James, shhhhh
Dude. Relax. Try some decaf.
Is Sbtr013 the same ?
Sapphire?
1:56 Ummmm….and 8T63 is the same as a VK63 which is a MechaQuartz 1:56
Did you buy the SBBN Tuna?
Yeah, just need to pay for it. Lol
Is this a JDM?
It is.
@@DogZy9 then quartz usually how long the battery life?
@@jcvarj2 battery in this movement needs replacing after 3 years. Using the chronometer function depletes the battery faster. I suggest you should read about 8T63 movement online for more.
👍👍👍
Im new to watches if anyone here knows what is the difference between this model and the prospex speedtimer timer limited with the ice blue dial (ssc909p1)
I know the speedtimer is solar but what else is there to justify the 500$ price difference imo this watch looks just as good if not better
It's really just comes down to technology and most likely the heart(movement) one is solar and one is battery..if you are new to watces I can guarantee you that this entry level Seiko spirit will do you good for years to come. I have one entry level Seiko entry Chrono watch back in 2010, fast forward 14 years it is still running strong and accurate as daily watch. Zero maintainence except changing battery.
I love this, but its like Rolex 116506IBLDO
😀😀

Me want
This is not JDM
Yet another little girl watch
