Picked up a sister version of this [SSB031] and super happy..
So many of the 42-45+mm monstrous, big-ass case size watches really turn my stomach ..

I don't usually like green watches but something about the Alpinist Green and maybe Seiko in general just gets me every time.
Wanted to buy a Seiko when I visited Japan. Saw this one in a Yodabashi store in Akihabara and had to buy it. Great value for the price!

Received my SBTR017 a couple of days ago. It is indeed gorgeous!
In my sample, the chapter ring is well aligned. While the dimensions certainly don't lie, it actually seems smaller than I had expected.
No regrets so far.

What I would like is that you find a way to hold the watch still. The image was bouncing all over the screen. I didn't see the misaligned chapter ring as my eyes were becoming misaligned!!

Very nice time piece, I like the green face with the gold color on the sub-dial rings. Also you can add that this watch has a power reserve indicator, that means when the battery is low the second hand will jump every 2 seconds instead of 1 second. Thanks for the video.

I have a pulsar chrono which I bought around 5 years ago which has the same functions as this but it has a conventional quartz movement and a white dial but the quality looks similar to this and it was a LOT cheaper,that said a very attractive watch especially the green dial.

Very nice review. I own this model this exact color… (I’m in Shiga Japan 🇯🇵) there is different colors and they also come with different color dials and leather strap or bracelets. If anyone is interested on buying one I wouldn’t mind helping you to buy your very own, due the fact that the Seiko dealer is 2km away from my home as long as you pay the shipping fees and of course the watch itself.

Hey there! Glad you found my voice so calming- I can tell you this is only after coffee. All jokes aside! the indices are glued on these watches and for the price point, you really shouldn't settle for one that requires work. However, they could repair it with adhesive...but they may just charge you for a third of the watch, which may not be worthwhile. I found mine on eBay, from a japanese retailer that was very reputable, I would try my luck there. I hope this helps!

It has the thinner bezel of the pre-1987 Rolex Daytona with the case size/thickness (and crown protectors) of the 2024 Daytona. This watch beats the Seiko "Daytona Mod" in every way. This watch is a WIN-WIN all around! 🏆🏆🏆

The video presents the watch very well. More than one year has passed. Do you still own the watch? How has the experience wearing the watch been? Do u consider the watch dressy or casual?
I have moved it on for another chronograph that was recently released (rather controversial Zenith) but I credit this seiko for pulling me into chronographs. I loved wearing it. Very light and it the green and gold reminds me of Lotus livery in a way. It sits more on the middle ground to dressy to casual. I paired mine on a rally strap for a casual look

It is indeed!
Very nice and the size is excellent. Some things that bug me are the short chrono hand and poor crown fitment between the guards. I'll stick with my Spirit SBPP001.
The crown does feel a touch small and fitted poorly great observation!

just a suggestion that maybe put the watch on top of a surface instead of holding it so my eyes aren't tracking the watch's movement during the video :)

The alignment issue has an explanation, on the caseback it says "Movement Japan, Cased in China". Fortunately my SBTR017 had accurate alignment, lucky shot ^^

@@jingkim2286 i brought the watch yesterday from seiko showroom here in japan. It was looks so charmed and nice. Price was around 16.000 yen.

Seiko is milking prices on all their range.
You do understand inflation right? A 200 dollar skx in the late 90s would be around 300-350 in todays money.
Too expensive for a quartz watch of that level of finishing.
Alpinist is still better man! You can’t beat the movement and everything it offers. This watch just doesn’t do it for me .

Seiko for me has gone downhill raising prices for not even entry level. No thanks. As of the last two years I’ve fallen off that seiko train. I’d rather save up and get a decent watch with a better movement. All the old seikos are worth the money but not anymore.
