Hi great video and it looks similar to the one i have at home. I was wondering what is the name of that little tool you have to check for the electricity?
Lucy Harayda Thanks for watching & you are very welcome. The tool used is a standard Non-Contact Voltage reader. You can purchase one from your local Lowe’s. Nice video. Thank you! I’m moving out of my apartment and will be taking down our Chandelier and not replacing it with another fixture. Is there anything specific I need to do with the loose wires to ensure the safety of the next person putting up a fixture? Or do i just leave the circuit breaker off? New to all this. Thank you 🙏
August Coryell Thanks for watching. It important that you don’t leave loose, open wires. We recommend properly capping off open wiring for safety purposes. Hope this help. Please subscribe to the channel and ring your RUclips bell 🔔 that would be awesome thanks again! 😎👍🔧🔩
@@arikschoessow2325 Thanks for watching, it will depend on the project. In our case, this project required capping as shown in video. Are you installing a new light? @@arikschoessow2325 Thanks for the reply, you will want to properly cap off all live wires until you install new light. Cap off each exposed live wire separately. Once installing new light, follow directions of new light to ensure the wiring is to proper configuration and code.
Seeing this helped a bunch! Do they actually make chandeliers whose wires terminate in an actual A/C plug? (instead of bare wires, like yours?) In other words, just a normal power plug, with 2 blades/tongs that you'd plug right into the wall? (in case you have an electric outlet on your ceiling, for instance). If so, can anybody drop a link so I can click to see what these look like, if they exist?
are all chandeliers the same tho? i have one in my late grandmothers house needing removing that has been up at least 40 years and im just afraid to even begin. how much should i expect to pay to have someone remove it for me, is it a whole bunch? id just like to have an idea so im not fleeced and can catch when im being overcharged...
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders thank you for replying! now im not so scared to try it myself. ive been envisioning a super long wire going all the way to the light switch or something equally crazy. this looks easy like you say so maybe it wont be that bad. itll be the last thing to go out of the piano room tho, i want it to come with me thats why i need to get it out its such a beautiful little chandelier. i have three other nice hanging fixtures throughout the house like this i see i can remove in this way! im glad i looked you up instead of chalking it up and leaving everything! it was so good of you to take the time to make this video, its very helpful.
@@mikkihesson3509 That’s awesome, the chandelier in this video was actually written into the closing paperwork by the sellers of the house. We said it was cool, it had sentimental value to the sellers. Oddly though, when we moved in it was still there... So we assumed they didn’t want it anymore...nope... they called and asked if we could take it down for them...🤔

Thanks for watching, we recommend turning off the circuit breaker inside the main circuit breaker panel to that exact room. This will ensure all electrical power is cut off & removed for safety.

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders Do you recommend capping the wires in pairs? OR individually. And what is the best way to do that?

Why didnt you show how to remove the chandallier out ?.....you showed how to disconect wiring not removing a big chandallier which is what I need now.
He did. Once you remove the wiring the chandelier comes out
