I've always said if Amazon want to control how people use their Fire TV Sticks they should give them out for *free* ....but until then they should keep their nose out of how people use a device they bought and paid for.

Amazon IS the enemy ! Quite simply, DO NOT USE THEIR PRODUCTS ! You are best of using an Android TV box that doesn't use the official Android TV OS, & has the full Google Play store. Or the Nvidia Shield. Apple, & Amazon will always be control freaks, & you will be permanently pushing shit uphill with them. Trash further all amazon shit boxes, ie throw them out. They are CENSORSHIP.

The title is misleading. This doesn’t mean there blocking 3rd party apps altogether. You are talking about the linking within apps, which makes you do more manual work and use their main home screen. You can still use 3rd party apps such as Kodi, film plus, IPTV, etc… In theory they can’t really block 3rd party apps as they would loose majority of there customers.
Gave up with Amazon FireTV/Google TV a year ago and moved to Windows/Linux on TV. With a PepperJobs air remote, its a much smoother and easier process and no messing around

They ARE NOT blocking 3rd party apps. They are blocking 3rd party apps from launching other apps from within the app. There are therefore forcing you to use their homescreen so you have to view their adverts.
And here I was thinking the Yalla Receiver v2.5 was my biggest problem of the day. Sorry, I got a notice on my phone to update to Yalla Receiver v2.5 from the Google Play Store. And yet I'm seeing nothing very weird. Sorry about this Fire TV problem.
That sucks. I have to say that it doesn't really affect me because I could never get JustWatch or Reelgood to properly launch content in the first place. I always found it quicker to just look things up on my phone. But yeah, they've lost me as a future customer.

I have 3 rooted Firesticks 4K. Bought the Walmart Onn last year for $20 just for the hell of it because of the price. Guess what happened next? Bought 2 more for the other TVs and gave away my Firesticks.

All you got to do is connect your fire tv to a pc and then you can watch anything on line
hopefully everyone will ditch their fire sticks cubes ect and force amazon to reinstate 3rd party

Your title is miss leading. What your saying is blocking ‘apps’ from changing the ‘UI’. They are not blocking streaming apps itself.
The are blocking steaming apps (Plex / reel good etc) from launching other streaming apps

I like the Walmart brand Android device. We use it on a daily basis. For $20...think I'll replace the two Firestick 4K Max.
