    THANKS MAN! After looking for the proper metal roof flashing, i gave up. had two metal roof companies try to sell me rubber high heat vents, I think these are designed more for hot exhaust or something not selkirk. anyway, your tricks work, especially cutting the left and right of each rib and forming it to them. Good enough for me, its not like its going to leak anyway!

      @@amidwestfamily112thanks Again. Got chimney in yesterday and rained today no leaks. I haven't got my stove yet but with snow coming I had a Window to get the flue in. Do you heat with no insulation? My garage isn't insulated but it's got sheathing on roof and sheathing plus cedar siding and house wrap as well

    Caulking the top layover edge will cause water to pool up . Should have left it open for water flow. I am currently doing my install and the stovepipe ended up right square on a layover seam. It is a 5 rib pattern roof so I will make a flashing piece with a 3’ wide piece of roofing and install it as a counter flashing…
    Always daunting to cut a hole in your roof that does not leak…
    50 years of overthinking everything…but no callbacks.

    You can still get a ice dam below the chimney allowing water to build up below the flashing. A roof boot is cheaper and the correct product.

    • @amidwestfamily112
      @amidwestfamily112  9 месяцев назад

      I keep an eye on it, and since the roof isn't insulated the snow melts around the chimney and surrounding area from the heat rising off the stove. But this could be a problem in the future for sure, thank you for watching!
