  • The saya can become loose from repeated
drawing and sheathing, as it rubs away
    the material inside the Koiguchi.
In this video we show how you can fix it yourself and all the materials you need.

Great video. I used a piece of cardboard that was thinned down and this seemed to work. Katana is very tight now inside saya.

Than you for your video how to fix a loose koiguchi! Question: how to fix a tight koiguchi on shirasaya sword? It's difficult to draw out the blade.

If the grip on the Habaki is too tight you can, very carefully, use an appropriate needle file to file away a little of the wood at the contact points. Don't file away too much though or you will need to add more material and then file that to get the grip back! It's better to file it 10 times a tiny bit than 2 times more heavily.

Would a popsicle stick work? Like to grind it down trying not to go with the gorilla glue method if possible

A popsicle stick is likely to be far too thick unless there is major damage to the wooden structure of the Saya.
A thinner veneer strip would work, but it will still need to be securely stuck with adhesive, and modern fast drying glues are by far the superior option when it comes to this type of process.

@@NineCirclesBudogu Thank you; I was thinking on using a stirring stick from Starbucks ;)
