    I have a question for you.
    If our sun with our planets orbitted a black hole how close does it need to be to see it in the sky like those stock pictures but far enough tobe mot pulled in?
    Also how would you see it in the sky? (Both day and night)

    • @ianjtgove
      @ianjtgove 2 года назад +1

      Well, technically the sun and its planets do already orbit a black hole: the black hole at the centre of the milky way. But I think you're asking about if we were orbiting much closer to a black hole. In that case, our heliocentric solar system as we know it wouldn't be possible. The gravity of the black hole would disrupt and misalign the planets' orbits, causing chaos in the solar system, resulting in the planets either (a) crashing into each other, or (b) straying out of their orbits and falling right into the black hole. And all-the-while, the black hole would be slowly pulling the entire solar system towards it in an inward spiral orbit. So, the only way that we'd be able to safely see a black hole in the sky would if earth and the other planets were "Blanets" (which is a type of planet that orbits a black hole) and the sun would have to orbit very very far away from the black hole, so our main source of light would have to be the black hole, while the sun would only be visible once in every few centuries, as a tiny white dot in the nightsky. But the radiation from the black hole would be harmful to life on earth as we know it, so we would've had to evolved to withstand such high levels of radiation. But perhaps if the black hole was a Kerr black hole (which is a spinning black hole that has a ring-shaped singularity, a "ringularity"), then we might be able to more easily adapt/evolve to withstand the radiation if the earth orbited in the Kerr black hole's Ergosphere.
      In conclusion, it is a very good thing that black holes are really far away from the solar system. It would definitely be a beautiful sight to see a black hole's disk and photon-ring in the nightsky, but it would also be very scary because it would mean "we're all gonna die".

  • @Smartest_
    @Smartest_ Год назад

    If the largest known black hole entered our solar system, it would be a catastrophic event. Black holes are extremely dense objects with incredibly strong gravitational pull, and their presence can have a significant impact on the orbits and movements of celestial bodies in the vicinity. The largest known black hole is TON 618, it is around 66 billion times the mass of the sun and it is located in a galaxy far away from ours. Its presence in our solar system would likely cause disruptions to the orbits of the planets and other celestial bodies, potentially causing collisions and altering the overall structure of the solar system. It could also potentially swallow some of the planets or moons in the solar system. The gravitational pull would also cause significant damage to Earth, as well as potentially causing a shift in the axis, resulting in extreme weather, tectonic activity, and other natural disasters. The black hole could also cause a massive disruption to the Sun's structure and activity which could severely affect life on Earth.

      Khorne is breaking his Xbox controller and tv because an 8 year old beat him at Call of Duty. Nurgle is laughing hysterically at the idiots wearing 3 masks while driving in their car, alone. Slaanesh is begging someone (anyone, really) to sodomize him/her with a swordfish. Then there’s Tzeentch, who is still perfecting the real life D&D campaign he’s been working on with Magnus, detailing what would’ve happened during the Horus Heresy if he’d turned every Chaos Marine into a Centaur with 24/7 erections. Theres just a lot going on, lol

    Actualy in my opinion black hole doesnt have singularity or infinite gravity.because of ots infinite all the black holes are supposed to be same size.there are actualy numbers for the amount of gravity present there ton 618 has more gravity at the centre than sagittarius a .but bcause of limitations of our equations we cannot calculate the gravity.i think einsteins relativity has reached its limit ,we should use top level quantum computing,string theory and quantum theory and relativity and modify them together to get a final equation to find the gravity inside black hole.

    A "Black Hole" cannot be any size. Or rather it's nothing and everything at the same time. An infinite point of infinite mass, infinite time, infinite energy.
    Mathematically when you divide by zero, that is theoretically a "Black Hole". If time is at zero in a singularity, how could it have formed in the first place? It would be impossible for mass and energy to reach the singularity and 'become' part of the "Black Hole". The closer you get the more time slows down. No matter how many times you divide something, you can never reach zero. A "catch 22".

    Just a thought. 🤔 Great video though! 🙂

    I join the people saying TON 618 is way bigger than showed in the videos, and also, recent models have shown that's more likely we would actually orbit the black hole, if something like that were to happen! So... not necessarily the end of civilization, this time :D
