Soo happy I found his videos again...
10 out of 10 recommend reading the back of each container. I am new to contacts and used the hydrogen peroxide solution like it was contact solution and put the contacts in my eye and burned my cornea. It took a couple of weeks for my eyes to heal. Now I use a combination of monthly and daily contacts (dailies at work, monthly the rest of the week). Loved your video and learned a lot!
Here are my 2 cents.... Clear Care is a beast at dissolving protein buildup.....best to use weekly. Bio True is best for daily use!....I also have Opti Free with Hydroglyde which is supposed to go well with my air optix but it's just not as good as Bio True!....Bio True has been the absolute best for me! super comfortable and combined with clear care...I don't have to rub to clean! Use clear care on Sunday nights and bio true every night and you will be a happy monthly lens user!
I'm a terrible person and I wear my 30 day lenses for 6+ mo each to make a case last years, and I use clear care and optifree replenish to keep them clean and comfortable. If I have a pair that is getting buildup, I'll clear care and clean them really well, then put them in some replenish and they're usually good to go after that. It's terrible advice, but they work so good that I've never had an issue over the 20 years I've worn them.
I use Clear Care on my lenses every three days for a deep clean. I use BioTrue the most & I love it!!
Thanks for this! 😊 I’m getting my monthly contacts in 2 or 3 weeks. Hopefully 2 weeks or sooner! 🤞🏻 I just went to get my exam today. I’m excited but I was told I would have to take an hour long class on them teaching me how to put them in and taking them out. So yay I guess.
Facts
Great video and tip about turning the case upside down to dry. There's always dust in the air.
Excellent video! Very informative!
Thanks Adam!
Yay. Those are the two solutions that I use (BioTrue and Clear Care). Along with PuriLens, preservative-free saline.
Do you use the clear care every day or just a few times a week?
@@Themdawgsishell I used to use Clear Care every day. Now, I buy the two-pack of bottles and it only comes with one case. By the time I'm onto the second bottle, it starts to take more than 6 hours to neutralize the peroxide. That can be a really painful surprise when you know you've soaked them for >8-9 hours and they still burn your eyeball.
Also the case for Clear Care is huge.
So now, I use BioTrue every other day, to give the Clear Care two days to neutralize completely (instead of just overnight).
I also use BioTrue when I'm traveling or for backup lenses to carry in my bag (going to the gym, contact sports, swimming), because the case is so much smaller and I don't have to wait 8-48 hours for them.
I have been using Clear Care for years, it is outstanding. It does neutralize after the required 6 hour wait and yes, it does sting like crazy if you accidently use it...which I did once and never again. I have been unable to find Clear Care for several weeks now. Is there another similar product that you recommend? (I am currently using the Bio True but after a few hours, the contacts are getting very cloudy and I need to rinse them midday. That never happens with Clear Care. )
Thanks for the good info. 👍
You're welcome 😉
Hello Dr Eye Guy, I just got an X-chrome contact lens what is the best care for this type of lens and what is the max time I can store it in its case? Thank you in advance
First timer to this channel. I wear hard rose k contact lenses and my usual solution is not in stock but I'm wondering if the peroxide solution is compatible with my lenses
The clear care makes my eyes even dryer after I clean with it
Clear care seems to be out of stock in the UK. Is there anything similar to it? Thank you 😊
Filling have the cup with solution and putting the rest on top is such a good tip. I couldn't count how many times I opened it up and found the contact on the actual lid, dried out like a dessicated spider. Pouring solution over the contact would have worked for sure, but I am a dummy.
You are not a dummy. I've experienced the dessicated spider myself. 😄
That's what happened to me today. Luckily the clinic had a extra pair. So just a question can I just put the contact on dry case and then add the solution
QUESTION: Does clear care plus product be use on Acuvue Oasys multifocal 2 week lenses ? Thank you !!!!
On another video it said to store the clear care case upsidedown but like u I didn't feel it was a good idea to leave in open due to debris that may contaminate it what do u think is best way to store that case when done using it also how often do u recommend me using this solution? I work as a painter & I constantly get primer on my contacts
Any suggestions to substitute for Ultrazyme Enzymatic Cleaner which is now discontinued?
Is Kirkland disinfecting solution good ?
Thank you so much for all that info 😀 I just realized I been doing it súper wrong 😅 no wonder why my eyes are always burning and uncomfortable😊
Glad I could help! Hopefully your eyes will feel better now.
Well, that was just super cool.
Another Outstanding video! I prefer the Hydrogen Peroxide option, I have been wearing soft contact lenses for over 30 years, and the HP option I feel is the most Comprehensive and Efficient.
Thank you! You're right, it's awesome. I recommend it a ton to my patients.
Do u only use clear care & not the multi solution?
Do you think that after cleaning and rinsing the case it would hurt to pass one of those ultraviolet wands over the interior of the case and lid to kill any bacteria?
I clean the cases very well and then I place them right side up over a paper towel and cover the whole thing with a SOLO plastic cup. That way, no dust, hair spray gets in the contact container and will air dry. Dr. Is this method correct? Thank you for your videos, they have taught me a lot about how to care for my Scleral lenses.
Do you recommend ultrasonic contact lens cleaners? Apparently they create bubbles and vibrations to clean your lens.
Thx
You're very welcome. Thanks for watching!
If we only wear contact lenses occasionally can we leave it in the contact lens case with disinfecting solution for more than 4/6hrs?
Hello, im a little late but when i clean my contact lenses on side is easier to rub than the other. The side touching the air seems to have more friction
I left my contacts in the Clear Care solution for over 6 hours but I still see bubbles and they aren't going away. Do the bubbles mean that it isn't neutralized yet or can I still use it safely?
I didn't know how to clean my lenses properly at first soo my contact lenses developed something on it like i dont know what but it have some particles like thing which is not going away even after washing it properly now .......what do i do now please suggest....should i but new ones or there's any method to clean it now and make that fresh
Shoot rinsing for 5 seconds everyday you gonna need to buy solution every week lol
Rinsing EACH side for 5 seconds no less!
I want aske ther are proplem if i use opti free or bio tru only with rgp lens
Link where i can order contact lens cleaner case?
Fun fact about storing the drying case...when you flush a toilet, especially with the seat UP, you basically aerosolize a buch of nasty stuff that can float in the air and settle on anything in the bathroom. I leave my case in the medicine cabinet!
its so easy to put it in my right eye my left eye has a blinking problem or i jus cant control it any tips with that?
I left my care solution open for 40 minutes, can I continue using it ?
Thank you in advance.
The multipurpose solution is for both cleaning and rinsing before putting them in your eye?
Don't use multipurpose solution with Clear Care. Otherwise, all the Clear Care solution will be bubbled away (foaming).
I've just started wearing monthlies for almost a month now and feeling like the lenses aren't getting clean like they used to. Is there any extra I can do aside from using Biotrue all purpose? I switched from RGPs, but nearly at the month mark they are just starting to seem unclean or like I have to pull them out in the middle of the day to reclean. PIA! Maybe I should go to dailies but I thought monthlies were "juicier" and better for midlife eyes and computer work.
Dailies is always a great option. If you haven't tried Clear Care yet, that is a good option as well.
What is your opinion on cleaning the contacts with an ultrasonic cleaner?
I'm using baush nd lomb renu solution but i didn't know how to properly clean my lenses and my contacts developed some debris on it how cam i clean it please tell....its an yearly contact lens nd I've used it for only 3 months....the vontact lenses are from Bausch and lomb itself
Wish there was a way to recycle the used platinum
Question for you: if I don't wear my (monthly) contacts for a week, does that mean I get to add on another week of wear time? How long can the contacts sit in the case in the solution?
Good question... technically the clock starts when open the packet of contact lenses. That being said, for most contact solutions you can store the contacts for 1 month, and then it's recommend to change out the solution.
@@DrEyeGuy Haha I was afraid you were going to give me the technical version 🤣 first. Thank you so much !
@@DrEyeGuy I am high myopic and am looking for an eye doctor to help me but also my eye problem is genetics as my mother is also high myopic and my older brother. Is still there a way to make my eyes see better as today am already diagnosed as legally blind
@@coachclod6824 How well do you see with glasses or contacts? Are you a candidate for eye surgery... either Lasik or an intraocular contact lens?
Can you mix cleaning solition with the clear care disinfectant? Just to store it in the case?
no.. you will risk still damaging your cornea if the hydrogen peroxide is not neutralized.
Could I use the contact lens solution to help lubricate my eyes?
Are the ultrasonic machines better or the same or worse or just different? I'm so confused about those.
I've only used it a few times. Maybe slightly better, but more work.
What happens if I don’t use my lens often inside the hydrogen peroxide case. Let’s say I will only use it once or twice a week. Do I have to change the solution often?
You can leave the lenses for up to 1 week in the solution as long as you don't open the container. Once you open the container, you have to change the solution.
Yeah I used the clear care just for a second thinking I could take a little sting and no… No I could not. It took all of my will power to not yell in the bathroom like you said first and last time will never ever do that again
I have something to ask. I've seen a few videos on yt where they soak a new contac lens' cases first with warm water. Is using warm water first to clean new cases really needed or not? And is it alright if i just use the solutions for cleaning my new cases?
Warm water has a lot of mineral deposits. Don't do it.
Hello Dr. Eye guy I don't wear my contact lens everyday when I'm not out, is it okay to leave in the case for more than 6 hours or even a day?
Yes it is, a lot of the solution you can keep it in there for many days. You will just want to check with your specific solution.
Do you have to was your contact everyday?
What's better for your eyes in the long run? I'm in the mid 40s. A multifocal contact lens or progressive eye glasses. Right eye: -1.5/+1; Left eye: -1.75/+1 what's the best multifocal lens? Dailies? Biweekly? Monthly? Thank you
I'll likely be doing a video on the different multifocal lenses. The answer to this really depends on the person. Some people will do great with progressive lenses, and hate multifocal contacts, and some people the other way around.
@@DrEyeGuy thank you. I enjoyed your transition lens video. My trial is ordered and I should be getting them soon. Let's see if I look like a demon. Lol!
@@princealbertdumaran9569 Haha! Let me know how you like them.
Hi Dr!
I use contact lens one or twice a week when i wear my lenses it’s burns my eyes .after how many days should i change the solution?
It depends on the solution, and it should say on the box. Does it burn your eyes when you first put them in? I'm wondering if you need to change the solution you are using.
What if i don’t use it for a couple of days do I still need to clean it or only if I use it
You will have to check your specific solution, but you should be good to keep it in the solution for a while, sometimes up for a month, as long as there is still solution covering the contact lens at that point.
How often do I need to clean my contact lenses, everyday? Thnk u doctor
You should get instructions from your eye doctor about your specific contacts. Usually contact lenses are cleaned every day.
Yesterday, I got a drop of Clear Care on my eye & I felt a chemical burn. I'm now on an antibiotic for the next few days. I will never make this mistake again
I have only a month of my contacts and I have the bio true solution do I only leave it there for 4 hours and then take the solution out like pour it out or do I leave it there???
You pour out the solution after every use. Is that what you were asking?
Yes thank you
You’re saying that after SIX HOURS
of soaking the lenses in the red lid
bottle solution I don’t have to worry
about the lenses burning my eyes
due to the amount of time it was left
soaking during that long period of time?
After 6 hours, that is when the solution is neutralized to water.
I left mine in for 6+ hours, even cleansed them with Bio True solution before putting them on and got a severe reaction ):
Is it bad to put contact cases in dishwasher?
I bought a contact lens solution from the supermarket but then read it is only for wetting and rinsing not storing. Please make sure you read the instructions as my contacts became so uncomfortable after storing them in the solution
What do you think about contact lenses cleaning machines? Are they more effective?
You know I haven't seen any real studies on that to see if they are more effective. I imagine they can be.
I’m a bit sus that the “steady stream rinse” is so they can sell us more solution.
When im cleaning the case and replacing solution, where do i keep my contacts?
Preferably you do it when the contacts are in your eyes. Or have another case you can use.
@@DrEyeGuy thank you !!
I keep my contact lens in glass jar mini is it ok?
Is the jar sterile? Are you using approved contact lens solution?
@@DrEyeGuy I wash it with soap. But I got idea from you that the solution should be new every time. The jar is glass with plastic cover cap.
Sir is contact lens harmful for eyes and one can go blind by wearing contact lens?
What do you think of Ultrasonic Lens Cleaners?
I wear daily contacts but use them for a week, cleaning with hydrogen peroxide. Stupid or ok ?
I would not recommend it, but I'm a bias eye doc. 🙂

This video made me realize, I will NOT be keeping my trial set of contacts. I do t have the money for all these different solutions just to take care of them!
You don't have to use all of these solutions. But you do bring up a good point, the cost of the solution does add up over the year. This can make daily lenses more appealing for a lot of people.
Actually hydrogen peroxide solution doesn't do a good job at all. Very ineffective. In my experience from the beginning to the end of the life of that contact. I never noticed a difference at all. Deposits still on the contacts and after cleaning noticed no change! Going the other route with Opti express or other MP solution does a better job. Overall they still need to find better ways of cleaning soft lenses.
Don't do none of that i just use Boi true and thats it
$100 a year for solution!
It can add up for sure
Too wordy. Get on with it.
Trying to get better
Just curious…. Are we talking about “contact lens solution, contact lenses, contact lens cases”????? My goodness…. Never heard someone repeat the word contact lens so many times in a row…. My dude, you can in fact say Contacts, case, solution and we will understand what you’re talking about.
