Wow....seriously, last time I tried taking my contacts out it took me 3hours of picking at my eye to get it out....I managed to get 1 out right away but 3hrs for my other...and that twizer method literally just pulled them right out just now super easy...THANK YOU!!!!
Just wanted to say thank you. Started wearing contacts a while ago. Putting them in was never a problem, taking them out was always difficult. The office I went to showed me how to both insert and remove them, but it wasn't very clear instructions. I had watched your channel about VR and when browsing through your videos, I came across this series. I watched it a couple of times and that evening when I removed my contacts, I followed your instructions. Wow, no problem, so easy. I wish I had this information a long time ago it would have saved me a lot of frustration. thank you again. BTW you channel has a lot of great stuff keep it up.
Thank you for commenting this! These comments are the biggest rewards I get for making these videos. I'll keep going as long as it keeps helping people.
Wow! Thank you so much! I FINALLY successfully got the contacts in!!!!! One thing I can add, for me, I did not lean down to look in a mirror, but into the bathroom mirror. This made my eyes stay open more! Again, many thanks!😊
This beginner's guide to inserting and removing soft contacts is a total lifesaver! 🌟 Your step-by-step instructions make the process so much less intimidating for new contact lens wearers. Clear and concise tips - exactly what we needed. Thanks for making the learning curve a lot smoother! 👁💖 🎥✨
This video was a lifesaver. I'm trying contacts for the first time after a few years of glasses wearing (48, normal presbyopia but also 1 dioptre far sighted on top of that which the contact is to correct for for outdoor activities) and really struggled to get them in and out. The optician showed me how to do it and I had to fit and remove them 3 times in a row successfully in front of them before they would let me take them away but I still could not do this successfully 3 times in a row after 3 appointments, partly because being far sighted makes it nearly impossible to see what I'm doing up close as soon as I remove my glasses to fit or remove a contact, so I need a technique that works partly by feel. I had three different people during the three appointments showing me three different methods none of which worked well for me and only one of them was a contacts wearer themselves so most of them didn't have first hand experience of wearing contacts on a daily basis so were just going by what they were taught. In desperation I watched a few RUclips videos which again showed several different techniques however I found your video and really liked the look of the tweezer method as I felt that was something I could do by feel. I also found the detailed video footage of the contact going in and coming out extremely helpful as it highlighted some mistakes I had been making. I went for a 4th appointment and said I was going to try a method that I had seen online, I then proceed to fit and remove both contacts first try with no fuss at all using your method, and was able to repeat it a second and third time as well, although on the third and final time it took two attempts to remove one contact only because I wasn't applying quite enough pressure to the eye before pinching my fingers, but I immediately realised this based on the comments in your video and tried again with a little more pressure before the pinch and out it came. I wore the contacts home that day and was able to remove them first try at home as well. I like the fact that with the pinch method you actually feel a tiny "squelch" as soon as the contact folds in the middle as you're pinching it, that lets you know you're gripping it and that it's time to pull it out. If you don't feel the squelch you know you haven't folded it away from the eye and to try again and push slightly harder before pinching. Other mistakes I had been making on my first visits that were pointed out in your video were removing my finger too quickly when inserting a contact (which just pulled it back out and usually caused it to end up on the floor) as it's clear from your video sequences that it takes a couple of seconds for the contact to suction onto the eye across its entire cross section. So in the last appointment I inserted it more slowly then kept gentle pressure on the contact against the eye for about 2 seconds before slowly removing the finger and had no problems at all with putting the contacts in, every attempt worked first time with none lost on the floor... For removal one mistake I had been making is not to dry my fingers of contact solution before trying to remove the contact - especially after repeated insertion and removals during the "test" where my fingers would get very wet and then slip on the contact. I also found for removal that slightly wiggling the contact left and right with my tweezer fingers before applying the pinch helped make the contact let go a little more easily. Thank you so much for this video!
30 videos later, in English and Spanish, and this is the one that works wonders. I wish more people would appreciate all the "here's a tip: here's what you may be doing wrong" sections. Went from not being able to put them on (or off for that matter) to putting them on in 30s. Thanks again!
Thank you for the instruction! It was very helpful! I’ve been wearing gas permeable for over 24 years. They were no longer working for me. My eye doctor put me in soft recently. Putting soft in and out very interesting and different but I’m getting it slowly. Comfort with soft contacts are working better so far.
The doctor spent a good amount of time wrestling them in my eyes then I spent 30 minutes extra in the doctor's office trying to get them out this helped me so much!! A lot of it is just like you said trying to contain your eye from doing whatever it wants. Although I still have difficulty getting them out by myself and it worries me but the slide to the side and then grip method works great for me!
Ugg, I spent 2 hrs with the optometrist who didn’t speak very good English who kept yelling at me saying “up, up” the whole time when I was visibly having a hard time. This video worked the best. I almost gave up after the first visit, not a good experience
Many thanks for this video. At the very first time I tore my left lense and felt myself so disappointed and unsuccessful. Now I could handle my lenses (with the help of your videos) without any problem.
I am new to contacts .I found putting them in is easier for me luckily for me I inly wear one in my right eye.Taking them out has been a learning curve but it is getting better. No one explained the way you pinch like you did that in itself is very helpful I prefer the pulldown method and eyedrops help alot.
Really nice tips for beginners! Be super sure to check them when they come out of the package, like you said. I never had a lint free contact right out of the package.
I’ve found that looking to the side when putting them in or taking them out is easiest. Because I have small eyes and long fingernails , I can’t grab my eyelashes or contacts. When putting them in, using my non-dominant hand, I pull my bottom lid first and put the contact in the valley (dominant hand). Then, holding my bottom lid with my dominant hand, I use my non-dominant hand to pull up and out my lashes (not lid). Look at replies to how I take them out.
(Part 2) To take them out, I look at my inner corner, grab my bottom lid with my left hand (nd) and pull slightly down. For the left side I use my left hand to pull my contact all the way to the side and either pull at the opposite side or, when it makes a small bump, pinch with my fingers. For the right eye I do the same but take it out with my right hand (d).
My husband had his eye removed nine weeks ago, due to eye-cancer. He is hoping to wear one contact lens as understandably he wants maximum peripheral vision. He went for a lens fitting today, and the optician took ages getting the lens out, which made his seeing eye sore. It left him feeling deflated, and wondering if a contact lens is the right decision. After watching your videos, I'm nervous, but hopeful I can help him. Has he made the right decision for his only eye's health? I really don't know.
I just started wearing contacts (Ive been alternating the days I wear the contact and my glasses but have worn them around 20 times) and my eyes get itchy for a while after putting them in and get a very mild burning sensation that will go away after 10-20ish minutes. Sometimes longer. Does this mean something is wrong with what I'm doing or are my eyes telling me that I shouldn't be wearing contacts? I think maybe I'm still in the adjustment period but I don't know
Sounds like you've got dry eyes. My first try with contact lenses my eyes would burn and itch. Through trial and error I figured out my eyes were too dry. Using eyedrops should help. The other problem might be your contact lenses, some are better for dry eyes than others. Talk to your optometrist about contact lenses for dry eyes. :)
Great video 📹 Neal, could you please do one with hybrid contact lenses? Its something that isn't big in the 🇬🇧 UK but if you could do a video id love it thanks big hug from Scotland 🏴 🇬🇧
Ahh perfect timing. But why does it feel like it's scratching my eye when I slide the contact over to the side to get it out? I'm doing something wrong.
@@DrEyeGuy So is it not something to worry about then? Also, should I put drops in before sliding it out to the side to get it out easier? With my dry eyes, it's hard to get the lens out, but when my nails get a little long it might be better to use this method of removal than the tweezer method which might tear the lens. Hope that makes sense.
Sorry for the late response. Yes, using an eye drop before you remove the lens could help you slide it off easier, and maybe help with the irritation afterwards as well.
I can try and help if you have any questions. I make these videos and post them for free... trying to help out. Did you have a training by your eye doctors office?
@@DrEyeGuy No I got no training. I tried multiple times first time one lense broke than they gave me a new pair and now everytime its in contact with my eye it slips back over my finger

I kind of feels like that for me as well. In a way you are kind of rubbing some of the top layer cells off, so it can irritate the eyes.

Go to the doctor as soon as you can
I actually never knew there are daily toric contacts for astigmatism
you have a rare eye color, you're genetically lucky.
Thank you!🙂
I much prefer to put the lenses in from the side, rather than straight at the eye. 🙂

Everytime put it on it folds but it takes me 30 to 40 minutes to put it on😅

So the process is the same for non-"soft" contacts.😂
It's close, but a little different, especially when removing hard contacts.
