Ok, I finally went out and built a lean-to. I've put it off for a while because everyone else seems to be making them, but it was about time I tried to put my special touch on the humble lean-to, a bushcraft staple for the ages.

Bushcrafting: knife, hatchet, fishing line
Steve: chainsaw, zipties, craft beer
And a tarp! Lol my kinda bushcraft
@Tony Lopez I hope you get through whatever you're going through, tough times for a lot of people.
I was just thinking the same thing as Skrubby, and you were the first comment, I was laughing so hard , Tim is the best, we love him.
I ment Steve lol just got off a live stream with a Tim.
“You don’t have to bring a tent with you”. Just a chain saw 😂
At first I thought he crossing over to the bushcraft darkside...then he busted out the chainsaw, zip ties, and tarp. Nope, all is still balanced in the force.
He needs a bushcrafter weed eater for the roses though

GOOD IDEA!
Truly goated 👑
Steve is flexin' on the other guys😃
There can only be one Steve.
That is our Steve
This guy is exactly what I think about when I hear the word "Canadian." A friendly, optimistic outdoorsman who enjoys beer and is almost unnervingly polite
You should watch him build a treehouse and apologize to the tree for using a hammer and nails. Most Canadian thing ever, saying "sorry" to a tree.
@@notgonnahappen7899😂😂😭🤣
He's a treasure and we need to protect him at all cost!
"Lets bushcraft a lean-to". Then pulls out a chainsaw. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣. I don't know why I find that so funny. Thanks Steve!
Ya, after I pulled myself off the floor from laughing, he killed me again with the zip-ties. I love this guy.
That's exactly where I spit out my mello yellow.
Who cares? Ancient people would have used the newest tools just like we do. Bush Crafting is bout shaping the environment. It isn't relegated to a specific era.
This man is peak of Canadian comedy

Steve you really need to find a small brewery to can a product called step 2. The online business could be huge.
It would be a hit for sure
Would be so many viewers literally having a step 2 with you each week.
This is an amazing idea.
Heck yeah! Great idea!!
That's a genuinely good idea.
All the hardcore bushcrafters are like “dude you’re using a chainsaw... that’s not bushcraft”. And Steve’s like “I am Crafting the Bush”.
I just wish I could watch the reaction of all the bushcrafters faces as Steve used the chainsaw and zipties.
I'm big into bushcraft and I love this guy, too many people forget that the most important thing is to have fun.
🤣
And the pruning shears 🤣🤣
Steve.. Don't ever feel like you have to do as all the other youtubers do, don't feel like you have to post a video every week. Don't think we expect this and we'll be disappointed if that because that's so far from reality. We love you, your personality, humour and attitude. We respect you and we enjoy watching you and sharing your camping adventures with you and we want you to enjoy this moment too! We definitely don't want you tired, stressed and in pain for the sake of a video! We want you to love camping as much as we do.
Take care, drink some step 2's and hunker down with your beautiful wife 😊 We all love you no matter what.
Ditto
Couldn't have said it better. 👍
Right, we have a life, we will not be THAT disappointed.
Where is CN.
NO we want a video of some kind every Thursday or I get the urge to start calling local hospitals or googling “RUclips camper Steve Wallis in an accident“. It gets really bad after three or four days - Sunday or Monday
John, so beautifully said.
Steve Wallis: The Bob Ross of RUclips campers. 👍
Spot on.
Did Bob Ross use a blowtorch too?

I halfway expected him to pull out an electric can opener lol
Jason Morton Steve-style ‘bushcraft’, along with zip-ties instead of cordage. Waiting for Blue Betty, the blowtorch for primitive fire-starting, lol. Alas we only get Butane Elaine.

That's why I love this channel; between power tools and using a bottle of lighter fluid to start a campfire, these are some real outdoor survival skills on display.
I've literally spent the entire day watching Camping with Steve and I'm all the better for it! 👏🏼🍳💓
Steve stealth camps inside own home. Will Lovely Wife spot him, or will he make it through the night?
Under the dinner table with a travel blanket thrown over it
He woulda pulled it off if he didn’t fire up the ol chainsaw
Hahahah that would be the ultimate stealth camping with steve
He did not even bother caping. Will beautiful wife see him cooking lunch?
"Okay, got to turn off the lights not and hunker down before the wife spots me."
Does anyone watch these videos religiously and think to yourself "this guy would be fun to hang out with"
I love his videos
Oh absolutely!!
I do, I like to eat with him.
I've thought that to, smoke a joint with him and see how many times he blows your mind with the little things he can teach
@Planet Earth for me he is like the dad i never had 😂😐😧
Steve deserves more subscribers and credit for being such a creative person. We appreciate you. Much love from Indiana. #HunkerDownForever
So the most fantastic thing happened. We was actually thrilled to have a quick chat with Steve. We now think he’s even cooler than before ( was that possible? ?) what a dude 🥰
Cool. We'd all love to have a chat or a beer with him.
Title: Bushcraft
Thumbnail: Chainsaw
Me: Now that's what im talking about
Yeah, who needs a knife and a bow saw when there's a easier method.
I love when you're camping with Steve, he just--- does his own thing. Electric fences, propane fire throwers... a bottle of whiskey, and some steak.. or even chainsaws now.
OK that's camping. That is not bushcrafting. Steve talks about how he's using a tent or a tarp shelter. Then he hears about bushcraft lean-tos. So what does he do to make one? He puts a tarp over the frame of the lean-to!
@@tenhirankei He *never* claims to be "bushcrafting", at least not being serious. That's really the whole point of this channel.
Yeah not much of a bushcraft project..
It really don’t matter what you’re doing bro, we just like to hang out with you.
Well said. I'd hang out with Steve anytime.
"Let's bushcraft a lean-to!" Whips out chainsaw lol.
Never change Steve. Never change.
Exactly. It's still bushcraft. Just not how "bushcraft" typically looks. Who cares? Do you, be you.
It’s a family thing...My daughter working in long term care just texted us: “you better not be watching Steve without me!” 🤣
I'm showing my age, but I have to admit I love the Tim Allen approach you take to camping, blow torch for fires and chain saws for a lean to.
LOL love it.
Tim Allen "tool time Tim".
Steve Wallis "camping with Steve"
It all makes sense now. 😂
That's spot on!

Just watched thanks and here I thought it was only good for making bananas into hammers👍
@@wesgregg6451 Wow! That was insane! But cool...lol
Aye!! I'm learning from Steve.
Because of him I bought a tent before lockdown with the plan to camp in London...... I live in rural Scotland, camping is no problem....... It's Steve's attitude.... I know it, I love it and he just keeps me on track with my attitude. May all the blessings of heaven shower down on him and his lovely wife .
"It's not a hop contest." THANK YOU!!!
Finally someone said it!!! I am so sick of hoppy bears ugh!!
Um that’s beers! 😂😂
"Who needs fireworks when you are in the pure abundance nature?" How true. The best 4th of July I ever spent was 5 years ago in a deserted campground waaaaaay up river. Our fireworks were the eye reflections of wildlife in our flashlights in the evening and the next morning, several hawks gave us a silent, majestic aerial show over the river and over our camp site. I'll never forget it.
That sounds so beautiful
I remember sitting on top of a canyon looking across the valley and down on the fireworks at Jackson Hole Wyoming. Drinking wine and laughing with other campers. A great memory in a spectacular setting. No crowds, no traffic.
Zip ties and chainsaws is the most bushcraft thing ever. The humor level is step 2 grade snark. I almost expected you to have Busch beer too.
Steve I love ya buddy. But ya gotta stop saying you’re not a real camping channel. Because you are the best camping channel in me and my wife’s opinion!
Really. I watch many different hiking channels, but the only camping videos I watch, are Camping With Steve. Something about him, he's relaxing and funny!
Oh he's just poking fun at himself. That's actually a great personality trait, it's the opposite of narcissism. It must be the Canadian in him because that's a little more rare in the US.
I agree. I think this is a great channel. Camping for real people lol :)
Fr. Joe robinet used to be my favorite northern brother to watch camping, but he does all this stuff like canoeing and hiking for hours. Nah. Miss me with that. I'm all about setting up camp and getting to step 2 as quickly as possible.

Five minute bushcraft that made me hungry. Fires up stove😂😂😂😂. This is my absolute favorite channel ever. Chainsaw, zip ties, boom ! Cot , frying pan and pita. Clean and head for house. Thanks again Steve. Can’t wait for Thursdays. Love it
You're like a modern day Bob Ross, but with camping. Thanks Steve!
Steve your so humble and peaceful to watch.
Chainsaw & zip ties. Now you're bush crafting with Steve.
Yeah , videos are not good anymore, as they used to be! Kinda disappointed

I mean you can not combine the title of the video and the starting screen better, while writing this comment where I am it is 4 am and literally laughed out loud after seeing that chainsaw. As always 10/10 for that Stevish sense of humor.
You make me want to build something to camp in...o wait it's 90 degrees out with 75 percent humidity...think I'll stay inside and watch Steve build something 😁👍
The way he said "Oh hey" at the beginning made me chuckle

I didn't have a mattress in my trailer, so i went camping, and only slept on blankets over plywood. my back went out, causing inflammation in my hip, causing sciatica, ending up in the hospital from dehydration, and on and on. when we get older, we have to have a good bed.

Next Thursday: Stealth camping on a hospital helicopter landing pad.
That's a no-go.
Cops are everywhere.
I almost pulled into one of those while bringing my son to the ER one evening. A couple paramedics gave me that look like, don't even. Wasn't wanting to park in it, just started turning too soon, as the actual parking lot, was right after that.

Went to the Jasper Brewing Company restaurant in Jasper when I went on vacation to Jasper and Banff National Parks a few years back. Best food I have ever had. I had the elk meatloaf and the poutine. Highly recommended. Also, bush crafting with a chain saw, zip ties, and a tarp is exactly the kind of thing I expect from Steve. Keep up the good content - makes my Thursdays more exciting.
I laughed out loud when he said "Let's Bushcraft a lean-to and started the chainsaw. Thanks for the video!
Steve I'm a retired therapist. For your back, fill up gallon baggies and pour a little rubbing alcohol or dishwashing liquid in to keep them from freezing. Always have one on your back when you're laying down or sitting and another in the freezer to switch it out with. Do that for a few days past when it stops hurting.
💡 God bless you, Steve & BW!
ima a mechanic. i disagree
Also, sleep with a pillow under the back of your knees when your face up, to keep the pressure off your lower back, and between your knees when you're on your side for the same reason.
Or just buy a proper gel pak for the freezer. Ice is THE BEST therapy.
@@earthangel8730, using them for decades, they tend to leak after a few uses and are much more expensive than making your own. 💡
42 ft 3rd wheel with king size foam mattress
I love the fact that Steve used a chainsaw and zip ties to build a Lean To. no fancy knots or chopping down trees with stone age tools. just good old fashioned camping. like he rest of us.
Bushcraft is what ever you want to make of it. Steve did some easy bushcraft, chainsaw, zip ties and a tarp. The rest of the video was regular camp stuff most of us do. Steve? I like your brand of common sense and step 2’s. Great videos.
Who needs fireworks when your in the pure abundance of nature? So peaceful.
Fireworks suck 😒
They do scare wildlife. Small mammals sometimes abandon their nests.
Driving out in the forest on a ATV,firing up the chain saw and cuts some twigs that you secure with zip ties. Then takes the ATV home to the king size bed! Now your camping with Steve! LOL :D
"Just gonna throw this tarp on it to give it its IP67 rating." AHAHAHA.
Lol seriously the realist camping on RUclips. No bull crap just to the point camping. Steve’s the man!
Even bushcrafting with Steve is still just Stevecrafting that’s what makes it fun

Hi Steve. I am quite new to commenting. But wanted to just say your videos have brought me much peace and joy recently. I strive to live more as one with nature every time I watch them.
It's amazing to see how far you have come from the boondocking days to now. Watching you grow has been awesome. An accountant, look at you brother keep on going. An inspiration to us all. And tell beautiful wife and crazy neighbor hello.
“It’s not a hops contest here.”
I know just what he's talking about - I feel like craft beers sometimes just means "how much hops can you cram into a can!"
@@geraldmartsy2165 Seriously... I like some craft beers but most don't even try to be unique, just loading in on the hops.
Exactly. I don't get the whole hops craze.
The best beer I ever had was my dad's home brew and he did not put any hops in his. I haven't found one since then that I like.
The love of Steve Camping is strong in our house.
The thing I love most about watching your videos is that there’s no right or wrong way to do something. You just do it the way you want. Gives people like myself the confidence to say screw it and do whatever works. Cheers to another step 2!
Thanks Steve for another great YT!

Steve!! I had no idea of your history man. I've watched a few of your videos that have popped up in my recommended now and then, and earlier today came across a video, 'Boondocking - Full Documentary'. I clicked without realising it was your channel. Right at the start, where you're in your motorhome about to get some fuel and I'm sat here thinking, I recognise that voice, and he kinda looks familiar as well. Didn't think much more of it and continued watching and hearing you talk about your position in life at that moment. Watched pretty much all of it before I realise it's you!!! I've subbed and gonna spend a few days bingeing your videos. Up most respect for you man. I'm a nomad at heart, and through watching your Boondocking video, you've rekindled the desire in me. I *will* pursue the free life of the open road. I need to get my shit together first, but aim to do a year or two on the road and just see where it takes me. I have no responsibilities like a partner, kids etc so I could essentially just bugger off tomorrow, but I don't have a van/motorhome yet so I need to re-direct my focus towards achieving this goal. Might take me a year or two to get myself in the position where I can do it, but I'll get there. Stay safe mate and hunker down.
Thanks! You will love it, those were the most adventurous years of my life. Some people spend a few years in their 20s backpacking around Europe and working odd jobs, I kind of did the same thing in a camper in the Pacific Northwest. Absolute freedom!
You can start whenever you want from your car.
Do be aware that it forces you more out into the public with covid-19.
Your home is a place to sleep which you can do in a car.
You could do the $10/mo. Planet Fitness membership for your showers and bathroom needs or there are boondocking ways to take care of it inside a vehicle with a 3 gallon bucket, bags, container, etc..
The main challenge is getting rid of possessions or minimizing them to a small storage unit ($15+/mo.). Yes, it's an expense but a very small one compared to rent.
There are lots of. YTs on this, but don't think you have to buy an expensive van and then remodel it. You just basically need something you can drive away in that has a comfortable place to sleep, which could be the driver seat reclined.
Learn the laws in your area to avoid any knocks in the night.
Steve has some comments on doing this in his documentary.
@@nrob450 I've done a few occasions where I'm in my car I had and yeah, I made it work. The Planet Fitness idea is a good one, and one heard of people doing. The van won't be anything special. My idea is more just a transit van style and then kit it out with the basics, and build it up from there. You just make it work for you I guess. Thanks for the comment man. Other peoples input inspires and develops ideas I wouldn't have had otherwise, so I appreciate it mate. Thanks.
@@alloneword7427 I'm looking at the Nissan NV200 for the same reason. Runs about $20k in Texas, gets 25 miles per gallon, has a CVT engine but seems to be okay if you keep up with the maintenance schedule.
