But I love the fact there's no romance. The romance would make it all about that rather than focusing on everything else! Hence why nobody gives this series a go. But is SO worth it. My favourite fantasy series.
I’ve never read it it’s on my tbr this year but I agree with you.. And if it wasn’t advertised like a romance by a lot of people then it wouldn’t be disappointing to others

@@katgreer6113 no, no FULL romance I meant. Because the book isn’t about the romance! Which is what non proper fantasy readers focus on.
@@sebastiannamooreyes I think it’s perfect bc it includes both fantasy and romance, but the fantasy is primary so we are able to be indulgent in such a good plot while still having romance that makes us long for more
i think readers did holly black such a disservice by going on about the enemies to lovers in these books. i read it years ago for the vibes (with the romance as very much a minor subplot) & i loved it.
Yes exactly!! I went into it bc of the romance hype but I was actually so pleasantly surprised by the politics & familial relationships! Jude & Madoc's relationship is so interesting to read about
Honestly I’m so happy you did. I read the first book and didn’t like it but after Hailey Pham raved about it so much she convinced me to read the rest of the series and I was so happy I did. I just got the fourth book too so I’m excited 😊

There’s a spin off set in the same world called Stolen Heir that’s just come out, I think that’s what they mean

i hated cardan until near the end of the wicked king, but now he’s one of my favorite characters!
I have a love hate relationship with this series, it was hard to get through, but i cannot stop thinking about jude and carden now, even after months, especially in the last book, and i think it grew on me more after i finished the series

I think that most people go into these books expecting a lot of romance or a great enemies to lover but in honesty it’s more of a side plot.
Tonally agreed, i genuinely enjoy the drama despite coming there kinda hope for the romance.
I ended up getting addicted and invest in Jude’s relationship with Madoc.. Taryn and Cardan.
I also kinda hope that Locke was still kept and not killed off book.

Queen of Nothing was my favorite as well! It gave a bit of everything while staying face paced. I think if I read this after ACOTAR, I would have also given it less stars because ACOTAR was hands down the best! The characters and world in ACOTAR was so much bigger than I imagined in Folk Air series. But since they lead me to the Night Court, Jude and Cardan will always have a special place in my 💜
Also..I looked at all the fan art when reading and did diagrams sometimes 😂 that really helped me visualize what tf I was actually reading.

@@hals.x5325 aighty so in the last book the Wicked King , Cardan writes letters to jude I won't spoil what they say but they're effing cute!!! Anyways those letters are only found on a specific book of barnes and noble but they're also found online if you just type "cardans letter to Jude"
@@fyourmomma Queen of Nothing but the only edition that has the letters is a special edition in Barnes and Noble and i don't think it's available anymore , but just find the letters online "Cardans letters to Jude"

I also feel like books like 'the cruel prince' are so widely seen as romances because the fanbases only make videos abt the romance so it makes u feel like the book is only abt it

I am the same - I lose interest sometimes with Fantasy because I don't pay attention to the characters and who they are related to, etc. I don't think we are alone in this, especiallly women that I know struggle with Fantasy

What I really disliked about this series was the pacing. I don't remember who dies in the 3rd book but what I do remember is that Holly Black just glossed over the death so quickly. A lot of other stuff happened super quickly after the death, so there wasn't enough time to sit with that and really process the emotional impact. That kept me from connecting to the story more. I think I gave the first book 3⭐️ and the other 2 only 2⭐️. Just a little too fast paced for how short each book is for my liking.

Well, I read the Fae- serie, (Valiant, Ironside, and Tithe) and that one is more worse, (I did not read The cuel prince) from what I understand of your video. No worldbuilding in that serie too, and the characters are really annoying and flat. Made me want to skip Holly Black in general. Seems I'm booked to review another book by this author, (The stolen heir in Dutch, will come around april/ june in The Netherlands) and to be honest, don't looking forward to it. So no Holly Black, if I had to choose, omgh.

I have yet to read the acotar series, but I feel it is really hyped up everywhere at the moment so I’m waiting for that to die down so I don’t seem like I’m jumping the trend. Because I’ve been reading for years, and to me, reading is about forming your own opinion. So that’s fair enough, you think that. However, I was just saying that in my opinion, you’re missing out if you don’t give it another try. It is really good. And just because of the lack of romance, everyone hates on it (which really furiates me because it’s a fantasy book. Not a romance)

fair. i thought it was a good series. but i literally hated Cardin and every character. my rating is like a one star ⭐️ for the whole trilogy.
